Knicks · I love Big KOQ!!! (page 1)

Just wanted to say that to see how many people would write (((PAUSE))) LOL

Seriously though, I nominate that we make O'Quinn's official UK nickname "Big KOQ"

NYKBocker @ 12/5/2016 1:00 PM
I was hating on KOQ in the beginning of the season but I am coming around. He has cut down on the lazy passes and upped his physicality. I love it.
BRIGGS @ 12/5/2016 1:07 PM
I believe this can be a better team with more consistency if we starts and play Oquinn 28-30 minutes. We have to put pay checks aside--exactly what is Noah better at right now than Oquinn--better passer(although oquinn is no slouch) other than that--nothing.

KOQ is the type to get worst when he's a full time starter. I don't have any stats on him to back that up, but I've seen this before with other players. It's similar to Jennings.....These guys get motivated as the hero. They feed off of coming into the game and saving the win. Or spot duty starter minutes, during injuries.

We need Noah to stay motivated and confident, for defensive assignments like Cousins. And I love KOQ.....Reminds me of the players from the 90's.....And we both from queens.....What not to love about him. I was also down on him, because I thought he let Willy's positive play and potentially pushing KOQ down in rotation, mess up his game. But I'm glad to see KOQ is playing very well, and looks like a smart contract sign by Phil.

nixluva @ 12/5/2016 3:08 PM
I was down on KOQ when he was out of shape and not playing hard or playing team ball. However, he's made a HUGE turnaround. This is more of the guy we all expected to see when Phil 1st got him. He's banging, rebounding, blocking shots, scoring and passing well. He does have the game to be a very productive role player and since we have him signed it's important to have him performing as he should. His play has made a HUGE difference in the recent wins.

I agree with the gist.. but the bottom line is we are doing it right. There is no reason to hand KOQ the starting job. It's Noah's. That being said this coach has shown no issue with giving the bench guy starters minutes if he's playing well. We have already seen that with Willy and KOQ several times. The bench guys are challenged and motivated. Noah doesnt need that... he plays full speed regardless. Noah is the team's leading rebounder and is actually 11th in the league in offensive boards per game. Contrary to some its NOT 4-5 when Noah is on the floor because he gets assists and offensive boards and sets more picks than anyone on the team.
Knixkik @ 12/5/2016 4:35 PM
I've always liked him and wondered why he just can't put it together consistently. It was all about shape i guess. He's exactly what this team needs next to Porzingis, its just a matter of him doing it consistently.

I dont know who you are watching--but Oquinn's defense is just as good as Noah's right non

Welpee @ 12/5/2016 4:50 PM
Consistency...that's the key for O'Quinn. Can he bring it like this consistently?

I would be more incline to have patience with Noah if it weren't for his sudden Andre Drummund free throw line imitation.

perfectly said- these players thrive on short stints in the games and may not have the saem affect in the game if they play 30minutes as theyre not used to that type of playing time.

Also im sure OQuinn will have plenty of opportunity to play this season playing under Noahs injuries

Briggs, I think Noah's defense has been much better than Noah's so far. He's quicker and more active. He's actually protecting the rim while Noah is playing matador D. And he has a fine offensive game too, which Noah doesn't possess.

Kyle O'Quinn is now Kyle O'WIN
WaltLongmire @ 12/5/2016 6:33 PM
The weight loss has really made a difference with his shot-blocking...with his wingspan it allows him to block shots he never would have reached last year.

Liked it when Phil signed him last year, because I thought he was a good Triangle fit...

Didn't like him by the end of the year...Was hoping we traded him with Willy's arrival...

Like him a lot, now, and he's actually been able to perform in a faster paced offense.

He showed some pride by transforming his body in the off season...hopefully he keeps playing like this.

Knixkik @ 12/6/2016 2:36 PM
How confident is everyone that he can turn the corner and do this on a consistent level? If so, he is the answer at the 4 next to Porzingis.
Knixkik @ 12/6/2016 9:53 PM
O'Quinn continues his incredible play tonight. What a spark he's been. He's doing it all.
