that some teams who are out of it buy out a PG and we can pick up a third "insurance PG" because I think we will need it.
Nalod @ 12/7/2016 7:58 AM
Panic move with Rose back spasm? Not even 12 hours after. Good coverage by GM Briggs!!!
Is Chasson Randle ready for prime time?
I wonder if knicks have thought of what happens if one of their pg's get hurt?
I wonder if our president or GM has contemplated such a scenario?
What players might be such a candidate?
They'd have to clear waivers otherwise the tax consequence could be high.
What player could step in and get it done after perhaps 2/3rd the season?
nyknickzingis @ 12/7/2016 8:15 AM
We need to let Jennings play biggger minutes in those situations. Rose the same if Jennings is injured. Let's see what Baker can provide. Also Sasha would slide into the point guard and we would have no choice but to rely on more of the screen roll play ball handling to be done by Melo, Lee and Holiday.

I don't think this would be a panic move. It's necessary to have a 3rd PG. If Jennings or Rose are out, the other will be relied on for too many minutes. Baker and Vujacic aren't PGs, they are SGs. It's something maybe we can address in the 2017 draft, but for the meantime, i would like to add a vet PG since it seems we are serious about winning this season. Maybe Kendall Marshall or Steve Blake, that type of player for 1 year. As much as i know everyone loves C. Randle, i am not relying on an undrafted rookie to fill a gap, that's just me.

You don't think knicks have thought this through?
But I'll take anyone in our system unless Phil is not happy with their progress and has to go out side.
We don't run a traditional system where roles are defined by position. Sasha and Baker can fill in. Melo brings the ball up a lot.
Maybe its time we give Randle a chance and see how he does.

This year is the first where I can happily report that he does not. I think it's something coach and team made an adjustment on during offseason.

Sasha at least is getting plenty of rest this season.

Im looking for "MBBU" stat on a web site.
"Melo Bring Ball Up"

I suppose your watching more than I am. IM not saying he keeping the ball, but if he gets a rebound in transition he bringing it.

Are you talking about for this year or next year? Seems like you're talking about both but we need not to worry about next year a quarter of a way into this season cause both our PG's are free agents so we have no idea if either will be with us so we'll worry about that when the time is right. For this season i absolutely think both Baker and Sasha can do a good job as the #3 PG on this team. Yes both are better as SG's but both can run the offense if need be and if either did need to it wouldn't be for many minutes so just enough to rest Jennings or Rose. I think Baker has some talent and could turn into a pretty good piece the more playing time he gets. He can shoot it and his defense isn't all that bad.

If we're talking short term/out for a few games type scenarios, I think Sasha is fine.
Nalod @ 12/7/2016 3:52 PM
My take is one of Jennings or Rose will be back. Not sure both.
Too many variables. Money being one. Health being the other. Be great if both made it 70+ games.
Rose is saying all the right things. This is the same dude that made the fool after saying before last season he was playing for contract. Bad timing.
This year he was great during his trail and all the right "Team like" things to say. Saying he wants to retire a knick. Also max money here is the most he can make.
Its a chess game. Most fans suck at it. We hate uncertainty. Phil jobbed us and the media during his coach search. Thai food in Montana and dudes were off the chain yelling he was eating while Thibs got away! Thank goodness fans got on the internet and voiced displeausure over Rambis otherwise he might have stuck with him!!!!!!
That said, Rose has to make it to the finish line at seasons end to prove his worth. Same for Jennings.

As for picking up the dump, whats our cap capacity to pick up a dump?

reub @ 12/7/2016 4:32 PM
Isn't Chalmers out there? I know he's still recovering from an Achilles tendon injury.
Caseloads @ 12/7/2016 7:53 PM
