KOQ then Rose
Didn't think KOQ would be this good, didn't think Rose would fit in like he seems to be doing
Knicks67 @ 12/12/2016 10:00 PM
Willy for me, he has shown that he can be a future crucial piece with Kristaps. Gasol comparison backed up by flashes of talent
martin @ 12/12/2016 10:25 PM
KOQ has been surprising good for me as Noah has been bad.

Mostly I'm just glad Rose is healthy and hitting his stride.

crzymdups @ 12/12/2016 11:16 PM
KOQ has probably surprised me the most in terms of being better than I thought he'd be.

But DRose has actually surprised me the most because he's been as good as I thought he would be. I guess I was expecting to have my hopes dashed.

nixluva @ 12/12/2016 11:23 PM
Have to agree that KOQ has surprised me. He came into camp in great shape but started off playing selfish and inconsistent. Then he got benched for Willy and it seemed to wake him up.

Yup, that benching did it, the next time he played, he had a increase energy about himself and played with a ton of confidence. He has his Big Boy shorts on now.

Cartman718 @ 12/13/2016 9:59 AM
Beeeely for me because I was expecting him to be a project for the first year.
Allanfan20 @ 12/13/2016 10:16 AM
KOQ has been wonderful but the progress by Derek Rooowwwwwse has been great so I picked him.
fishmike @ 12/13/2016 10:17 AM
tough choice between KOQ and Rose. I thought we made a mistake playing KOQ at the 4 last year when I see him as a 5. You hear plenty about guys and their wonderful offseasons.. then they stink. I 100% wanted Willy to win that backup role, but KOQ outplayed him and earned it. He's simply been amazing. I am not super surprised by the shotblocking.. he was a bigtime shotblocker in college and his 7'5 wingspan is upper echelon in the NBA. KOQ is a LONG player and with his new found quickness and more minutes at center he's blossoming. The passing and over all rugged play have been great.

Like crzymdups mentioned as Knick fans we are all conditioned to be dissapointed, but if you watched Rose at all last year you could see him breaking out of that rusty mud he was stuck in. He's young enough to bounce back from his injuries, and he's dialed it back a notch with great effectiveness. He's been much better on defense than advertised, and has already hit a handful of huge shots late in games for us. He's a true weapon and is making the Knicks better with his play. Or maybe we are just winning in spite of him considering his WS/48 are so dreadful

Allanfan20 @ 12/13/2016 10:17 AM
If Jennings were more consistent, I would pick him. I couldn't stand him when he wasn't on the Knicks but now I really like him.

Amen on Rose! I took a LOT of CRAP from some people for saying that it was possible we might be getting Rose at the right time. You could see he was starting to get his game back and having a full summer to work on his body and game without rehabbing from a surgery was key. He's still improving and hopefully they can get him rest at key points as we go along to keep him fresh.

I argued that WS/48 is a good stat but it's not everything. IMO efficiency means NOTHING without IMPACT on the game. Jose was a very efficient player for much of his career but he was not an IMPACT player. Teams need efficient players but they also need a few IMPACT players!
that's what we have in Rose, Melo and Jennings. They may not win any efficiency contests but at the end of a game they can turn it up and make plays that get you wins.

yea.. those dudes would tout those WS stats and arguing against them resulted in some ridiculous statements. Sadly mreinman doesnt seem to be around anymore and Bonn hasnt responded to my "how you like me now" Derick Rose trolling (who still has lousy WS/48).

You gotta watch the games. We have seen Rose take it the basket 3x in a row that result in 3 misses for him, but 3 easy putbacks for Noah or KOQ or KP. While Rose gets stinky EFF% numbers the guys around him look great on the stat sheet. If you actually watch you would know that Rose created those opportunities, despite missing. Thats what great penetration does.. disrupts a defense. So please.. go ahead and help on Rose, we will clean it up. Everyone that WATCHES would know that Rose created those shots. Yawn... Im just glad we are winning games and no wanking over Melo's contract

That and the stuff before Rose's trial really sucked. Some guys went way too far. Someone in the game thread posted that there was no hate for Rose. WTF?
dacash @ 12/13/2016 1:55 PM
I know he us not there but the coach is my biggest surprise.Horny has a very good coach , rotations, plays out of time ots, benching the "star" players when a reserve was playing better, the whole triangle thing he had to thru.He is a really good coach; seems to try and guys to buy in and whatever he is saying is working kudos ya old horny bastard
knicks1248 @ 12/13/2016 2:12 PM
Most Players play at a very high level in a contract yr..so as long as Jennings and Rose are healthy, were going to win..Base on their approach to the season, it's no surprise to me that those 2 mean business..And they seemed to me really enjoying and embracing NY NY like AMARE
knicks1248 @ 12/13/2016 2:14 PM
I forgot to Add HOLIDAY, who has really been a pleasent surprise
NYKBocker @ 12/13/2016 5:51 PM
I was hating on KOQ at the beginning of the season. This is due to his performance last season. He truly has been a pleasant surprise.
