Eventually but for now just win the games you're supposed to win and look to improve execution on both ends!
Yeah I agree. As long as we win that's all that matter. Beat the teams you are suppose to beat. The next challenge will be beating upper level teams but in the meantime we just need to take it one game at a time

This team has a lot of areas to improve on and it's not gonna just instantly snap into shape. They need time and work. Every game is another opportunity to improve.

Ive said the same thing from Day 1

True. My only caveat is that shouldn't stop them from winning games at the same time 😬
Something needs to be done about our defense. We can't defend fast breaks to save our lives.
An injection of athletic ability.

Agreed. I really think targeting a very athletic wing in the draft would go a long ways. We are not real athletic, probably our biggest weakness. It shows defensively.

It's not going to change if you have Melo as your SF for much of the game. We do have athletic players but not like some teams that are loaded with pure athletes. I'm not so concerned with that aspect as I am with making sure we have the right approach to the game. Despite teams have more athletic players the Knicks pretty much can play winning games as long as they get production from at least 2 of Melo, Rose and KP. Last night we only had KP and that makes it harder to win. Not impossible but definitely less margin for error.
If the Knicks want to get better it's going to have to start with defensive side of the ball. They have to become a lock down team. Defense helps off set any bad night by certain players. Now the Knicks don't have many great athletes so this area needs work a lot of it.

I'm looking at the roster and the only way this team can really improve is from within. This team doesn't need a trade at this point. Individually each player stands to improve their square. Nobody is playing their best yet. At the same time, as a team we have yet to peak or get into a smooth flow yet.
We have great depth at every position. How can we really get better? Who can we get that's better than what we have without messing up chemistry?
Well if D.Rose misses a significant amount of time because of this back thing then we take a big step back. B.Jennings isn't as good playing with the starting unit as he is with the 2nd unit and it's pretty obvious. Whoever on here that is a Mets fan like me knows how tricky back injuries can be cause we lost 3 starters a significant amount of time to back injuries last year (D.Wright, L.Duda, N.Walker) and another one missed some time because of a back injury (A.Cabrera) but he also had other minor injuries as well that made him miss games.
With or without D.Rose our biggest problem is still defense and if we don't start giving the effort needed on defense for a whole game then we're gonna have problems with a lot of teams especially 3 point shooting teams cause players get open looks all game against us, D.Booker had plenty of open 3 looks last night but he was just off last night.
I love pretty much every player on this team and would hate to lose any of them but if Rose misses significant time and him being out starts really showing in our games then we might have to start thinking trade. I love R.Baker and think he'll get better with more floor time and i think it might be time to think about sending someone to the d-league like M.N'Dour and bring up C.Randle especially if Rose is gonna miss any kind of real time.
To me health and sustainability of our most expensive players is the biggest question mark.
Can Rose stay healthy enough to be a net positive and grant contract extension?
Can Melo adjust his game to declining health and mobility due to his miles?
Can Noah play at least some marginally significant minutes and became at least some option on offence?
Take this 3 out or even have them as 0-sum players and we are a rebuilding team with a lot a dead weight to be cleaned up.
To me the biggest concern is Melo negative impact on game flow.
Holding the ball too much, ill-advised 3-pointers leading to fast breaks, lazy defense, inability to guard fast 3th and big or stretch 4th, turnovers when lackadaisically bringing ball up instead of giving it to guards, etc. He is losing the focus too much when he is not the man on most of the possessions. Also he suddenly will take some portion of the game off or the whole game altogether but tehn play great other game. looks like his head is somewhere else.

Jennings has been good but we dont really need him going forward, he eats into rose's effective minutes as when they share the floor jennings holds onto the ball all possession only passing to the big man in the PnR. Rose could play 35 min and theres plenty of nice back ups we could get on the cheap fo fill in that 15 min.
It would scare the hellz out of me if we had Rose averaging 35 minutes in a full season and i'd rather have his minutes lower or his knees could be shot by the time the playoffs start.

His back issues are most likely coming form knees or overcompensation when his body instinctively moving the load to the back.
I would not play him more that 25 min.And some GM have to be crazy to pay him long term.
He may get short term 18-20 mils per or Noah type contract but no more that that.
