Knicks · Is Chasson Randle The Future? (page 1)

misterearl @ 12/18/2016 11:29 AM
9-11 from three?

Randle, darling of the Knicks’ preseason, obliterated the Texas Legends in a 132-124 W-Knicks victory, dropping 38 points on an absurd 9-11 from three.

Did he say 9-11?

nixluva @ 12/18/2016 11:53 AM
I hope Randle continues to play well. I would like to see the Knicks bring him up if he gets back to playing like he was in preseason.
newyorker4ever @ 12/18/2016 12:06 PM
Lets see what he can do on a NBA team against NBA competition before we start asking if he's our future. I hope he gets that chance soon though cause i've been very disappointed with Jennings since he's been starting for Rose.

Yeah I'm not expecting Randle to do what he did in the NBA but I would like to have a PG that is a threat from 3pt range. I'm curious to see him with the talent we have on the big team. He's more of a scorer than passer but that's no different than our other guards.

Nalod @ 12/18/2016 12:37 PM
His defense? Will he be a liability?
BigDaddyG @ 12/18/2016 12:38 PM
I'm happy that he had a good game, but his defensive and ball handling stats have been underwhelming all season long. He has nearly as many turnovers as assists. He still has a ways to go, especially when you compare him to other Westchester Knicks guards we called up like Jimmer and Langston. Anyone watch him play live? Is he still recovering from the face injury?

Hornacek talked about him as the game not being too fast for him in the preseason so hopefully he'll get called up soon and they can just send N'Dour down cause he's not really needed right now anyway and he's not getting any game time anyway.

I think his Quick release and overall scoring ability could be helpful and often turnovers are partly about not only bad passing but also a lack of chemistry or the talent around you. I would bet Randle looks a bit better with NBA talent around him. He'd have to do less.

Although his defense is suspect and he's small his long distance shooting has really come around since he took off that mask he was wearing. I'd take him over Sasha or NDour right now.

His defense is just as good as Jennings....both small. But randle will spread the floor and would be our best 3pt shooting PG. He's not a playmaker like rose or Jennings.

Is he better than Baker? I doubt it. Seems like Baker is doing ok at PG and we don't really need a 4th PG unless someone else gets injured. Not every undrafted rookie is going to turn out to be a decent NBA player. We have done very well in that category recently.

Randle and Baker played well together in SL and preseason. I don't think the question is who is better, but, will Randle fit on this team. That answer based on his limited run is yes.

Maybe we let go of someone else then. But it's tough to rely on so many undrafted free agents. Kuz, Baker, Ndour, Plumlee, and now Randle? When the roster increases from 15 to 17 next year, it will definitely be helpful to take a flyer on more of these guys for sure.

Well, I think Baked passed his audition...again, so it would need to be someone else preferably a guard to keep roster balance. They should just make Sasha an assistant and be done with it.

I suspect it would be Ndour. He's the most obvious guy to go. He's way down the list and doesn't have much of a clear role. I like the guy but we can't keep all of these guys.

I agree, he would probably be the one.

We should move a big because, including KP, we have 5 of them. Noah is the obvious choice if we can find a taker. I wouldn't mind getting Crabbes here lol.
fitzfarm @ 12/19/2016 12:49 PM
Man 9-11 from three is nice ... beats watching LT brick wide open looks over and over and over again...
WaltLongmire @ 12/19/2016 1:57 PM
Would not mind seeing Randle brought up for a look, but would like to keep Ndour around.

Baker pretty much duplicates what Sasha can do, and not only does he have an upside, but he satisfies Phil's desire for a Triangle ready guard, as I think he can play the Triangle lead guard position like Sahsha can.

Would not mind Sasha being kept on as some kind of assistant, if possible, but I think his time with the Knicks should be at an end as far as a roster spot.

SupremeCommander @ 12/19/2016 2:00 PM
Randle is not going to be The Guy with the Knicks so scoring stats are meaningless to me. I want to see him contribute in other ways. I do think he has a future in the NBA though
Kemet @ 12/19/2016 2:30 PM
Randle has way more game n tricky moves than Baker, I didnt buy the face injury report.
Plus Sasha shouldve been our 6th man off the bench playing alongside of Jennings ..
Randle n Holiday shouldve been receiving spot minutes off the bench throughout the first half of the season, and when midseason arrive Randle n Holiday should be given consistent minutes to rest injured players.
Lance Thomas inconsistency on both sides of the court need to be traded ASAP.
