Knicks · Staying patient in the east is key (page 1)

No need for wholesale moves -- other than clev boston and Toronto were right there. This team has zero none no chance to beat Clev or even Toronto but in the right spot we could make it to rd 2 . Still masks problems we have but it's better to have some playoffs than not.

Good post everything you say is accurate. Team can be much better with current squad but the ceiling is clear (swept in conference finals is absolute dream/win lottery type season. Most likely outcome is get bounced in first round. Still want to bank wins and be competetive. Lately Melo is losing me, this season his game is so lazy on defense (obv), but also on offense.

This team needs to taste playoff first before going further, i.e. Semi final.

Briggs what about a trade with the Heat for Dragic. We send Rose and a picks for Derrick Williams and Dragic

The Knicks can beat anyone besides Cleveland Toronto and Boston but they can just as easily miss the playoffs completely

definitely agree. the east will be a war of attrition (except for clev and tor). which ever team with the least injuries will succeed. knicks just have to stay around 500 and theyll make the playoffs. like i said before the absolute ceiling for this roster is 45 wins and 1st rd exit. no need to make major trades - this team isnt a contender

Sounds good except for the picks part. Top 5 or 10 protection wouldn't be enough for me. We're going to need cheap talent going forward with the way this team is constituted.

No first rd picks unless the player is a star and 25 and under. I think we could trade a big(Oquinn?) for a small who can really shoot it. I still love Curry and Dallas lost Bogut a few times this year already. Since they brought in Jackson--they may be interested in big for small both on small contracts. But in terms of big trades---Im not sure--its very difficult--we should wait for buyouts.(rudy gay etc..)

The Knicks need to be patient until LeBron retires.

The season was never about the Finals anyway so nothing has changed. This is just part of the process of putting together a winning team and developing the younger talent we have. They still are in the playoff hunt and still haven't peaked in any way as a team.

So yeah there's no need to panic. Just try to make some improvements to how this team plays. Later they can assess if roster moves should be made.

Intelligent patience would mean trading our vets for young players who can play with KP for many years.
rickv3 @ 1/2/2017 7:57 PM
I'm convinced we won't go deep or contend with Melo leading. If KP keeps improving and next year if Melo lets KP be the focus, then maybe we can go deep into the playoffs.

Or we could just tank and try to get in the top 10 range to get a young PG.

Then do it again next year.....

It's an option we haven't ever tried.... especially with a great player in their youth.

I think the Knicks management needs to seriously look at this. Do they not realize how the young guys are always the most popular players? Imagine if we had been able to draft a guy like Malcolm Brogdon in the off-season? Instead, our pick had long since been traded.

Milwaukee is going to come into the Garden and blow us out of the building. That's a team rebuilding the right way.

I'm so ready for that. (edit: ready to rebuild that way with draft picks and young guys, not ready for Milwaukee to beat our butts)
