To the sixers!

That's the problem with the d league now. The players are basically free agents..it's not a true minor league farm system (yet)

Promoted* (please excuse my fat finger typing on my phone)

Good for him

Seemed like a good young player. Knicks at least have Baker who is a better Defender, which we clearly need. I was hoping we could fit Randle in here but in the end there are always young guards out there like that. Can't get too crazy about it. Now if we can find another athletic/defensive SF/SG type that can bring something we don't have that would be nice.

I agree. The Knicks were able to protect Randle from the d league draft but he still was a free agent. I am glad he is getting an opportunity. I wish it was with the Knicks but the team has 5 rooks already.

Teams should be able to protect a certain number of players on their d-league teams.

Bummer. Would've liked to sign him here.

I believe this is in the new CBA - a roster spot or two that you can desiginate for the NBDL team.

I was talking about this since we cut him in Training Camp because of a freak injury--that if he played in Westchester--that another team would sign him to a contract before we did. I knew this would happen. He didn't even make it to the 10 day contracts--they signed him through the rest of the year. What a shame. He earned a roster spot on our team over a lot of guys. He was our best player in preseason. Melo spoke highly of him. We should have cut someone and given him a roster spot once he was recovered and playing well in Westchester. I'm sorry but he's more talented than Baker. We found this guy as a hidden gem, developed him and let him go for nothing. And we are thin at the guard position.

Have been a Baker promoter from the beginning, so I'm glad he is sticking in place of Randle, but the real issue is not Baker, but Sasha.

I think a Sasha is good for this team off the playing court, but right now he is just taking up space.

Have said it before, but we would have been better off making Sasha a coach and giving Randle a look. I'm hoping that Knicks BB people saw enough of him in the DL, and didn't think he was the right fit here, but if he does well in the NBA, I'll be pretty disappointed.

I agree. I thought one of Sasha's roles was to mentor the young euros. Kuz talked about how he and Willy were asking KP tons of questions and driving him crazy when they first got to NY. Sasha as a coach, especially with Baker taking his spot on the court and being the ambassador for the young euros, just makes sense.

Sigh. Preparing to be bummed tonight when Randle makes his NBA debut with the Sixers... against us.

CrushAlot @ 1/20/2017 5:54 PM
Sixers signed him to a second 10 day contract today. I was hoping they wouldn't.
