I wish there was a way to do somethong like that. Zach and KP could be a great 1-2 tandem amd lots of fun to watch. Add in a draft pick and some free agents and we are ready to roll. Melo in Minn with towns, wiggins and dieng would really hide Melo's defficiencies well. Thiba also loves a vet and tried badly to get Melo to chicago. Then its just up to convincing Melo. I can dream!
Minny are even worse than us defensively and already have big usage scorera its not really a fit at all. Zack is cool but i really want to focus on getting two way players going forward.
It would have to be a 3 way trade I really dont see any team that is willing to take Melo, is a contender and Melo would be willing to live in that city
As someone said, has to be a 3 way trade. Which are hard to do. The most likely destination for Melo is Cleveland, Chicago or the Clippers. Chicago has his buddy Wade, Cleveland his buddy James and LA his buddy Paul. All situations he would not have to be the best player. Of those teams, I doubt we get what we would want. Cleveland is no longer interested in dealing Love, He fits in now and won a ring. Chicago may be open to trading Butler, but not for Melo. We'd get some combination of Mirotcic and Snell and players like that possibly. Clippers may part with Blake, but I doubt that.
The only hope to move Melo would be shipping him to the Clippers for Blake Griffin. Blake is a free agent after the season and injured so his trade value is relatively low. Chris Paul and Doc Rivers could convince Melo to waive the no trade clause. Being in L.A. would be attractive to his wife. The salaries would probably match for a trade. The Clippers may bite since Blake isn't helping them right now and if they either think he's going leave at the end of the season (i.e. going back to his hometown OKC and playing with Westbrook) or if they're tired of him always being unavailable.
I have to imagine the OKC thing is a real possibility. Griffin is probably the ONLY big time free agent who would have any incentive to play in OKC and you gotta believe they're going to throw everything at Blake to convince him to come home. Plus they gotta bring somebody in to help Westbrook and convince him to stay too. If this is true then we're just basically unloading Melo's contract unless we can get the Clippers to throw in a pick.
I'm not a big Blake fan but if we want to move Melo I think this may be one of the few options. The thought of moving Melo for very young talent or picks is a pipe dream. Paul may be a strong advocate to make it happen and the Clippers window for a ring is lined up with Chris Paul's prime and he and Melo are about the same age. They haven't been able to get it done with Blake so far, they may be willing to shake things up.

Yeah i don't see much for a trade right now. LA clippers have nothing of value outside of their big 3. Not even draft picks. They are depleted of young talent and assets. Cleveland could give us Thompson, he would be a good long-term fit next to Porzingis, but not sure how that makes any sense for them. Maybe he will be interested in going to Boston or Toronto, but i doubt it. I can't see Chicago as an option anymore.

I agree this is the kind of deal we'd be looking at. You can't just trade Melo for some kid making peanuts and a losing team. Melo should be open to such a move. At this point it's looking like it's just TIME to seriously look to part ways. I mean what's with Melo basically begging off games by getting himself ejected? I've never seen that happen from a team's Star Player before. He's just plain QUIT on his team.

how about Love for Melo
Posts like this will never make sense to me. For starters, this trade doesn't work under the current CBA. The league should scrap this rule in an effort to allow flexibility to the 28 teams sitting in purgatory but they won't. Also, there's not a realistic dump Melo for picks option under the NBA salary match rules so if people could stop posting about that as well, that would be great.

some of his adopted sons are rejecting it
shit - I'd take JJ Reddick and picks that will be 20+ for Melo at this point... leave it to YOUR. NEW. YORK. KNICKS! to buy high, sell low
Funny, I thought of JJ Redick plus first round picks as well. Great shooter from the 3. With him, KP and Lee we would have a poor man's Steph-Clay-KD perimeter. Too bad he is already 32.
My dream deal would be the Nets' #1 from Boston plus Amir Johnnson, Olynyk and other salary filler.
Only trades out there to make are with the clippers from Melo's perspective. He would want to play with Paul and with a cast already set. That would mean the Clippers need to send us Austin Rivers, picks and Crawford or Reddick would have to go.... it's doable only if they keep their core intact.
I can see a trade to Toronto working out but Melo isn't going to Canada.
I could see Boston too... Melo for Jaylen Brown, Rozier, Jerebko and Amir Johnson works beautifully. Amir is a big expiring.
If Melo agreed to any of that, the Knicks would have to ship Rose and Lance out as well. Maybe to Phoenix for Brandon Knight, Tucker and Dudley...
Noah is untradeable probably.
Why would the Knicks need to trade Rose? Can't they just let his contract run out at the end of the season? Or will it hinder their FA plans from having him on a cap hold?
