Baker missed a couple of 3's in the 4th and Horny took him out. I would have kept him in down the stretch. He defends and moves well and always makes the right plays. He was the main reason we took the lead in the 4th.

I thought we might win one of Toronto, Atlanta, Boston and Washington but this was by far the best opportunity of the 4. Think we go winless now which would put us at 18-26. Just pathetic.

The tank should now be well and truly on. We suck.

It's time for Melo to lift his no trade clause at the deadline and move on. We need to go in full rebuild mode. Enough is enough.

I think the conversation is coming and soon. Just reading between the lines. Our mentality is that of a team of losers. Yes, we aren't getting many breaks or call from the officials but thats just an excuse really. We should have had several of these close games in the bag but we don't because our team leaders are losers. They are mental midgets. They are not capable of concentrating for 48 mins and we give up the key plays. Plus we never make the clutch big shot, I mean our franchise superstar can't even finish an open shot from 4-5 ft to win it. Just losers.

Again and it does feel like groundhog day saying this; absolutely nothing will change until we make significant and ball club changing decisions and that is Anthony traded however it is achieved. We are going nowhere. The only good news for me is that if Jackson makes little change we are actually going to lose more games than people even imagine so can secure a high draft pick regardless.

Very strange that he does not get the calls you expect him to get. We see certain stars get calls if you breathe on them on their drive.

I'm not the biggest Rose fan, but the guy goes to the basket aggressively and it is amazing how many times he doesn't get those contact calls.

Rose and Melo have to be top of the league in NO CALLS!!!

fitzfarm @ 1/16/2017 3:35 PM
We are such better team then atl the fact it was close was a embarrassment in itself . Why is this team underachieving so badly?

Also top of the league in their failure to make clutch plays.

Once Melo came back in the game at the 6 minute mark, the team defense was breaking down on every possession. It's mostly due to him and his slow rotations. We cannot be any good defensively so long as he's on the court. I don't know if it's just lack of effort at this point, or that he can't move anymore, but he's super slow with his lateral quickness.

I said in another thread that we can't cover for both Melo and Rose defensively. One of them you can hide but not both. Rose seemed content to just trade baskets with Schoder!!!

fitzfarm @ 1/16/2017 3:38 PM
The foul on roses drive was obvious and unacceptable that the refs didn't blow the whistle... there should be a protest filed by the knicks ...

IMO our best players are so flawed that we can't overcome their mistakes. Rose makes big mistakes on both ends and Melo turns into a statue on D. We can't win if those 2 aren't functioning at a higher level in making smarter decisions with the ball and more effort on D!!!

fitzfarm @ 1/16/2017 3:40 PM
We should have won this game at the ft line ... just unacceptable game calling by the refs .
TPercy @ 1/16/2017 3:41 PM
I thought Melo played a very good game if you ask me. He had some really good defensive moments on Milsap and kept us in the game.
fitzfarm @ 1/16/2017 3:42 PM
The fact that baker was not out there for the last possession defensively is unacceptable... he was the sole reason we came back

Watch the final 6 minutes over again when Melo comes back in and see how many defensive breakdowns there were as a result of Melo's defense. He has the whole team scrambling on rotations because he can't get around screens or rotate on switches. He also never gets out on his man. It's really bad.

It's not really about Melo's individual defense tho! It's his effort in the team concept that kills us. He's not moving to close out on shooters or shutdown the lane. Melo waves and reaches at guys which does NOTHING.
fitzfarm @ 1/16/2017 3:44 PM
Bakers first start was fantastic he should stay And clee should go to the bench

I agree. Even Clyde made the point at the beginning of the game how Rose wasn't being aggressive on defense and not pressuring at all just allowing Dennis to get 15 feet from the basket. He just doesn't expend any energy on defense. You're right--with both of them in there together, we're doomed to be a bad defensive team.

Rose ran out to cover the Schroder 3 but I'm not sure he ever put his hands up. Cannot remember the exact sequence of the play.

Might have subbed Baker for Rose on the play if possible, though, and then brought Rose in for offense if necessary...

And how about the joke of the charge call against him when Hardaway was clearly moving to his left? That was the turning point of the game.

And Rose was sliding right to avoid him, too.

Very strange.

SocraticBallin22 @ 1/16/2017 3:49 PM
Baker and Kuz were solid in their first starts. It's time to amp up both their minutes and make them part of the regular rotation. Also liked what I saw from Holiday. It's time to start giving the likes of Baker,Kuz, Willy along with KP and start looking toward the future.

STFU. Watch a fuckin game. Melo carried the team. What did he shoot? You probably dont know. We get it. You hate the guy. Now add something new or move on.

At this point, if we can get a 1st round draft pick with an expiring contract for Melo, I would pull the trigger. I would also trade Rose for a 1st and try to couple him with Noah's bad contract. Time to stockpile as many as #1's as possible to streamline the rebuilding process.

Did you ever play ball? Take your own advice. The breakdown was at guard position over and over againg. Called pick and roll defense which Melo had nothing to do with. Keep hating bro.
