Knicks · Melo REFUSES to be traded (page 2)

Hey IMO there's a very good shot that Melo n KP at the 4/5 can work well. Let them do it for a while and see what it looks like. I actually like how baker and Kuz have looked with a greater role.We need to tank to see if we can recoup a top tier PG from this upcoming draft. I say, blow this the hell up around Melo and KP; then do what needs to be done. Melo doesn't want to leave? That's fine. That doesn't mean we have build around or with him either.
exactly. and i dont wanna hear "we have to win-now for melo". do whats right..even if that means tanking. thats what melo signed up 4

He also gave him a ntc. It is on Phil. Not the best executive in the league.Everyone else can be traded or released, but not Melo? He is immune from criticism.

Exactly. Maybe these things were covered with his meeting with Phil because I can't comprehend him truly seeing any clear path to contention with this franchise in its current predicament. I just hope that if we do get a top pick in the draft that he does not force us to parlay it into a veteran.

He didn't trade it in 2015. I don't see why he would this time.

Phil ain't trading our picks!!! He didn't protect them just to deal them away now. Not after KP was drafted!!!
I rather win 25 games than 35, but 35 is still where we are most likely to end up. Which will put us close but not completely out of the playoffs. Even now as bad as things are we are two good weeks of basketball away from being back in it. It's quite close. Of course we are two more bad weeks of ball away from being close to the bottom of the East. Anyway, point is, we should give KP at the 5, Melo at the 4 and Rose at the 2 a try. Until a trade is made or a decision is made on what's happening with Rose/Melo what else can Horny do? As a coach you have to try and win every game. We simply can not defend and play inconsistent down the stretch of games on offense. Perhaps better spacing and more speed will change how we play. No harm in trying. The way the top teams play, you have to believe that KP at 5 and Melo at 4 is where most of them would be playing on the better teams in the league. Spacing, speed and 3 point shooting have become critical elements to a succesful team. We have the capability to put forth speed, spacing and 3 point shooting if we put KP at 5, Melo at 4, Rose at 2 and some wings next to them that can shoot 3 pointers. Realize you also want to establish a good culture around KP. If KP is part of a team that loses 55 games, that's not good for his development, If he comes back and the team starts to play better and wins more, it is better for his development especially if Kuz and Baker are starting as well. That's 2 rookies and 1 sophmore. You want them to have good winning habits. Horny is in the right for trying to win. It's up to Melo/management what they want to do to change how much he has to work with.

Just on talent if Melo stays a Knick along with Rose and KP is back healthy we will be able to win 40% of our games. I know that we have lost many games but I could be wrong in the exact number but quite sure in games that KP, Melo and Rose all played we have a winning record (or .500). If KP comes back healthy after this achilles thing (which the Knicks should absolutely be sure about before they send him back in) then it's quite likely we begin to win many more games we have been.I rather win 25 games than 35, but 35 is still where we are most likely to end up. Yeah this pretty much is where i'm at. This team SHOULD be able to actually win more of these games with a healthy KP and some changes that you've highlighted. It's not like every game has been a blowout. They've lost a lot of close games.

There is no reason to win games if the plan is KP is the future. The plan should be to tank to get him a good/great running mate while he is on his rookie contract.
But, really, that’s just one more element of the faction of Phil-o-philes who want you to believe their spin on the job Jackson has done here and not your own lying eyes. It’s like the narrative that has slowly evolved as Melo’s tenure with the Knicks has devolved: That Jackson wanted to part ways with him two years ago when he was a free agent, but James Dolan wouldn’t let him.http://nypost.com/2017/01/17/carmelo-ent...And there are only two ways to respond to that theory, too.
1. It’s nonsense, and the enthusiasm with which Jackson re-signed Anthony in the summer of 2014 reflects his true feelings. Because if not …2. Then Jackson is an even bigger fraud than he appears, that his assurances of autonomy were bald-faced lies from the start and he is here only and exclusively for the money.
Paris907 wrote:Melo Has to go. He's been a slow steady cancer slowing down the offense, keeping us from a true rebuild, limited defense, virtually no athleticism. We don't need Melo shooting 40% and taking 20 shots. If we traded his ass 2 years ago, we would have a great complimentary player for KP and still seat low enough to secure a strong first rounder
As a PF he won't shoot 40%. More like 45% which would solve a lot of efficiency problems. Plus a pass first PG would make things easier.

I don't think so. The team won a crazy number of close games early in the season and has still won more than half of their close games. It actually hasn't evened out yet.
Now if they move Melo to PF, that's a separate issue but I could see that helping with the record a little.
As long as Phil keeps his mouth shut and tries to pretend that this is all being driven by Melo, he's staying. They said Melo doesnt want to be driven out. Im guessing its in part that he doesn't want it brought about through proxies if he does go. He wants Phil to own this, publicly.

I think both of them really want to succeed in NY and neither plans on going anywhere

That would be 4 yrs in a row..Aside from towns and KP who in that entire draft is a difference maker right now.
I would hope phil would package that pick for a player who's ready to contribute now, a strong vetran presence with some leadership skills..Not no project pick that may get shot in his knee outside a club.

That rationale has lead us into this awful predicamemr.
