Nikola Jokic
This guy is going to be a star. He's better than KP and I think there is much more probability he stays healthy. They moved him to starting C and he was just awesome tonight. Hopefully moving KP has the same effect for KP but watching this guy--he is highly impressive. KP needs to watch tape on this guy from the passing and rebounding angles of the game--also perhaps what a good shot is. Hes a smarter player.
The WS advanced stat community had Jokic rated higher than KP at the end of last season. Jokic is very good. I think KP can be more of a bigtime scorer in the league, his offensive attack is far more diverse. Jokic is the better rebounder, but KP might be the better shot blocker and rim defender.
IMHO it's easy to underrate KP while he's sitting out injured. KP is seven months younger than Jokic and injured at the moment.
I look forward to seeing KP get more time at center.

no doubt about it. i dont think hes BETTER than KP (less athletic, cant defend or jump, cant shoot or dribble drive) but hes a GREAT GREAT passer. to me his ceiling is as a borderline all star...KP is an allstar at his peak.
last yr he started at C but that was only because nurkic was out. this yr malone benched jokic for nurkic and quickly found out that the "joker" is way better.
KP and Jokic are different players. KP has the higher upside but i agree jokic is highly underrated
PS the stat geeks rated jokic higher than KP cuz: jokic didnt start at first last yr. when he DID get playing time was towards the end of the yr when teams were tanking or shutting it down. so his numbers were inflated. also at that same time, KP hit the wall and was hurt at the end of last yr. thats why im not a big fan of stats - they never include the perspective

You can include any perspective you want in the stats. Im skeptical but if there were a few games where the opponent was tanking, you could remove then and recalculate. It's no different than the eyeball test in that sense. You've decided to remove some of the games that you saw.

thank you for your perspective on my perspective. lol
both kids have great futures...how about that!
This is discussed a little in the Sophomore ranking thread below. Jokic is very good. He's not better than KP and certainly doesn't have quite the upside, but we see what putting a guy in the right position can do. He is probably going to be as good as Marc Gasol or better. When he was coming off the bench and also starting next to Nurkic, he was struggling. Not sure what took them so long. But he is a franchise level center, no question. Same as KP, and when we move him to that position full time, i think he will take his game to the next level. This is probably the most talented center group in the league since the 90s.
