Yeah, if the Knicks are planning to give him the huge contract ($100 mil?!) I see people mentioning, that would be the worst gamble in our franchise's history. If he plays every game the rest of the season like last night, I'll change my stance, but this seems to be just an occasional, explosive scoring game for Rose (basically a tease).
fishmike wrote:BRIGGS wrote:Playing smaller opened up the court and Rose was the main beneficiary. Powerful quick and unstoppableCan you have an MVP on a bottom 5 team?
All depends on the Knicks. If they force feed us Noah---than were not very good. If we get Derek Rose consistently with anything near that level of play--than its a better team. Noah is TERRIBLE in our offense and doesnt make up for it on defense. The Knicks cant go down by 30 at home to New Orleans and Orlando--they cant give up 112+ and whatever they had from the 2nd Q on last night--we need more of that. Meaning Carmelo is not the best player on the team and that the ball moves and multiple guys make plays.

I think that is why he was in the game at the end. He was setting nasty screens and also his rebounding was excellent. I see good things for him. Has good hands, works hard and has a clue.Role players = enable your stars to shine.
I liked that Plumlee set some great picks- he actually knows how to do it. You don't need to overspend @ $72M over 4 years for a player that can help you win doing the small intangibles.
I think people who really understand basketball saw the value of HOW Plumlee played last night. I dont think hell ever be better than what Noah was/si whatever... but he played very very hard set great picks hustled and EXECUTED on defense ran the floor hard---I know darn well he could have bad games really quick--but if he can stay within what we saw last night--hard quick picks finish at rim quick aggressive defense--hes going to get PT. The guy to me who looked bad last night was Baker--he didnt look like an NBA player. That is going to happen he needs to step up and try harder.

Hornacek picked a good time to give Plumlee some PT, we needed his energy and enthusiasm. Baker has been at times the best PG on this team. Dont bail on him after one game.

No Im willing to give Baker atleast 10 games at a minimum. I fully understand he wont be able to do it every night--but wed like to see better than last night where he looked slow and out of place.

A good game doesnt mean rotation minutes. I dont want Plumlee taking minutes from Willy, KOQ, Noah, or KP at center. But getting guys in the mix is a good thing. A hungry guy willing to bust it everytime he gets in is a good thing. The coach letting the rest of the roster see that they can lose some minutes to an inferior talent who is willing to play that way is a good thing.
Who knows.. maybe Plumlee has a future in the league. I dont know and I take nothing away from his good game, it was just that. Just some perspective. It does show that the end of the bench can matter, and maybe this turns around the season. That kind of play is tough to sustain but the Knicks need it. Curious to see where the coach goes with this.

fish--it doesnt matter what you or I say--if Plumlee does what he did last night consistently I guarantee you he will be playing
Rose will be signed to an amount that most will find uncomfortable.
If he can finish the season without leg issues he will have shown two seasons being healthy. His games missed last season was from facial fracture.
Does he deserve max money? I don't think so, but he will be paid handsomely. I have to trust there is a thought pattern that Rose can also grow his game out a bit and function at a higher level in other ways.
Rose missed a lot of games. I'd have to think orthopedic specialists are better judges than us.

He's a foul machine. I have no problem with coaches giving hustle guys a shot for a lift. Plumlee played his role perfectly last night. I dont see this as a sign of things to come, but who knows. We will see.

Plumlee is a more effective team defender. KOQ simply does NOT move his feet to close out on shooters. He's great blocking shots when his man is near by but Plumlee will actually move his feet and get out to a shooter. That makes the defense MUCH more effective. We've needed more LIVE bodies like that. Noah also doesn't move to close out on shooters and so having guys like Baker, Kuz, Willy and Plumlee out there makes this a better defensive team. NO they aren't great defenders but they're BETTER than when we have slow footed guys out there that don't defend the whole floor.

I like Baker's game in that he seems to have a good feel for the game and makes the right passes..But a trading chip???..Tim Jr and Isiah Thomes showed you why he wasn't drafted...He will have difficulty with the speed of NBA players...And he should have never been put on Isiah Thomas..But this is a PG league...

Lillard is much better than Rose at creating for his teammates. Please do not compare them...Rose has only 1 double digits assists game this season... ONE. Even in what people are calling MVP'ish performance, he had only 5. Cringe.
