Knicks · Despite last nights loss this team is turning the corner (page 1)

fitzfarm @ 1/20/2017 12:43 PM
The wiz are hot right now and if we just hit our ft's throught out the game we would have won the game... that last reach in call on melo was a terrible call. And porter hade the best game of his life. Also would Lee tie the game if the coach didn't cheat and be on the floor screaming in his ear.

We have a set rotation kuz and baker are great starters KP just got back. We are spacing the floor beautifully... defense is still a work in progress but getting better... as long as we stay close to the race we should be ready to make a big push after the all star break.

Things are getting a lot better !

franco12 @ 1/20/2017 12:46 PM
wins have to come from somewhere if we're turning the corner, at some point.

the team is good on paper, great for small stretches but mediocre when it matters, and where it matters- won/loss record.

Chandler @ 1/20/2017 1:05 PM
i am hoping we have bounced off bottom and are headed up
nixluva @ 1/20/2017 3:58 PM
It seems to me like the team is getting better. Doesn't mean they're going to win every game but I think they are getting better.

Jeff has to do a better job of using his roster too! He's still trying new things and figuring out what works. I don't think Jeff's done a great job closing games. These players seem to always do the wrong thing in closeout situations. Bad shots! Turnovers! Missed open teammates!

jrodmc @ 1/20/2017 10:44 PM
Despite the record, this is still better than losing by 30 each and every night and trying to be all happy face about Lunchpail Lou's work ethic and remembering Jose's career numbers from 3.

It's almost pleasant to be blaming losses on a few blown calls.

The fans are turning a corner.

Phil isn't blowing it up, he's growing it up.

He's hiding. He signed Noah, Jennings, Lee and traded for Rose to have a win now team. He put 2 point guards and 5 centers on the roster for a coach that likes to play a 2 point guard/3 point guard line up. He signed a triangle friendly center that can't shoot near the basket or make free throws to a 4 yr 71 million dollar deal. He named Rambis the associate head coach in charge of defense instead of letting the new coach choose his entire staff. He allowed the first player to ever go ghost awol and miss a game to play the very next game and never addressed the situation. His teams have lost at an incredible rate since he replaced the coach with the highest winning percentage in a decade. How many years will it take to get back to 37 wins?

I have this thought after every game.

Since moving Melo to the 4, we've played much better. Without question. Without Noah, the team looks much better on offense. KP came back, was rusty and off the bench, didn't have many plays for him, and still dropped 15.

3 losses within 10 days all one possession. Loss to 76ers. Loss Atlanta. Loss to Washington. We keep losing by 1 possession. I just don't recall so many games where a team lost by one possession in a short time.

Anyway, I agree the team has been playing better. Jeff's got some new younger players involved now. I dig that. Kuz is a rookie starter. Baker a rookie starter. Willy's a rookie. Plumlee a rookie. We're playing 4 rookies and 1 sophmore in the rotation, and people act as if we're a win now team? Many of the players on this team are players in their first or second year. I like that they are getting playing time. Rest of the season the goal should be to get the most minutes for players like Kuz, Baker, Willy, Plumlee and obviously KP. These guys will be back next year and can continue to get better. In the meantime if we can also be competitive and look like a team that can make a late season push for the playoffs, that's good for KP and those young players. You don't want to give them the habit of tanking and losing.

Hopefully our fortunes change and we begin to win these close games. I've counted 5 losses that were 1 possession games, where we had the lead in the last minute of the game in the last 15 days. That's really ridiculous. 5 games. Unreal. Even if 3 of them go our way, 2 the other way, we're at 22-23 right now, right in thick of things.

Yeah but the team was 6-1 earlier in the season in games decided by 4 points. It's basically just evening out now. Their point differential is around -100, which is not a characteristic of a .500 team. The record is a pretty accurate reflection of the team.

Gudris @ 1/21/2017 8:18 AM
If we turned corner, we need to win next 7 games, no excuses .

Boo hoo. For a guy that's hiding you can see him clearly every home game in the stands. He's right there. Looks like any other fan. Must hear the booing.

I doubt he made any decisions on the final roster.

I also can't think of any other team who made better signings that changed their fortunes. Chicago signed Wade - how's that working out? How did Riley do with that Dragic trade?

Are the president's of all the losing franchises out there making statements?

These nonsensical expectations just make Knick fans look like dopes. You want overnight turnarounds? Delusional thinking.

Good points.

Imagine too if we did not consistently spot the other team 10 point leads

I'd like to know our record when we hold the opponent to under 30 in the first

Nobody that isn't in the locker room or practices or on the bench or anywhere around the team at all can say if JH is using the roster correctly or not from the outside looking in. I know we all like to make our own suggestions of what should of been done after a loss but that's not how it works. We have a solid roster of players that can play the game and just because a play that JH puts in the game doesn't work doesn't mean it couldn't of worked out the other way. No matter what JH does and whatever play he calls or whatever, the players still have to be the ones to make those play calls work and just because they don't doesn't automatically mean it's on JH.

Blah blah blah blah blah..................this is not all on Phil. Phil has put a team full of talent together and they're not winning right now but should be which is not on Phil it's on the players not doing what they're supposed to be doing. Noah is a little overpaid but with the way the cap jumped you could say every single team has at least one player that is overpaid and most have multiple players and it's not on Phil that the cap jumped drastically and contracts jumped drastically. The rest of your complaints are just you reaching for things to put on Phil.

GustavBahler @ 1/21/2017 11:19 AM
We seem to turn the corner whenever Noah sits.

Who would you put my complaints on? It isn't all on Phil but every player and coach on this team was brought in by Phil.
