Knicks · Why not trade KP for 2 First Round Picks this season (page 2)
Second KP will never go to the bench he's the face of the franchise the world buys tickets at msg to see KP not melo ... again some of us just need to be patient... the only place KP is moving to is the center position, and that's when we get rid of the baggage like Noah and KOQ.
Obvious that horny had orders from Phil to put the starting line up back to its original order... its unfair because that starting line up doesn't work and horny knows it. Phil just won't accept he blew it signing Noah and Lee both bench players .
The real starting line up should be
KP,KOQ
Melo,Willy
Kuz,holiday
Rose,Lee
Jennings,baker
Noah is a 10 to 15 minutes type with the NBA all about offense players like Noah are just a liability in today's NBA

Why? Because I suggested a trade for KP. 2 things He is having foot trouble. We want him to gain weight to play the center spot . His body frame probably can't take the weight. I just put that question out there and you KP lovers are going crazy.
Remember Steph Curry and his early ankle problems.
Yes, KP lovers are going crazy.
Wait, you not?????KP hater? Such a thing?
"Banish with you!!!!"
Papabear SaysDamn I love KP. I just put that suggestion out there. I thought this is a forum for ideas and discussion. In my opinion everyone on the team should be open for trade if the right deal comes up. It ain't like we are winning a lot of games.
Courage PB.
Funny, alot of the same Hinkie plan lovers are the same ones that won't stick up for this possible banking of possibly thousands ping pong balls...interesting...
Those feet are already hurting.
Now where did I read about people of tremendous height being susceptible to career damaging foot issues....hmmmm.
Do we have any right now? No
Is Melo still one? No
Is KP one yet? No
Anyone else? Rose? Gimme a break.
So we have one Potential Superstar on the rise. And we have one Hall of Famer on the decline.
And we would trade that Potential Superstar to play what...Russian Roulette again? 2 first round picks...all of which we do not know whether they are going to be studs or not.
We dont know that about KP either, but most critics are 95% sure that he'll get there.
You trade that away for 2 picks that may or may not get there.
Good PGs will be available every single draft (which is our biggest need).
A 7'3 baller with potential of really becoming a Durant-Dirk combo....why would you trade that for 2 picks?
Ever wonder whether the reason why he had foot issues has little to do with his lack of strength, but more so coach's recognition of his strength and conditioning?? KP does not have an NBA body yet and he is already making plays like we haven't seen before from a 7 footer. And the coach, to solidify his status was playing KP big mins to get Ws. The kid took on the challenge...but he is still a kid!
Giannis handling....so different.
KP season 1 - 28.5 mins. Giannis - 24.5
Season 2 - 33.75 mins. Giannis - 31.3
Why is KP not being progressed slowly? Why is he being expected to save this franchise in his second year in the league? That's a management problem, not a player problem.
Giannis is essentially a guard in a larger body and can create more for himself with speed.
But he still cannot match KP's crossover. KP is slower up and down the floor.
But you replace Melo with Giannis on the current Knicks, and you've essentially got a team that would challenge the Cavs, PG problems and all!
Giannis is now an all-star in his 4th year in the league, Give KP 2 more years...he'll get there.
Answer this....would the Bucks trade Giannis for 2 first round picks? I mean their record is 21-23. Not much better than ours. Is Giannis single-handedly turning that team into a winner? No, I don't think so.
But the Bucks have already signed him to a long term deal and he took less. Their supporting cast is supposedly more team oriented than ours, but they have just 1 more win for the season. Ask anyone in Bucks mgmt or fan base, if they'd trade him for 2 first round picks.

Yeah it's just crazy. Knicks fans are the only ones on the planet actively suggesting trading a 21 year old with star talent. I guarantee even Indiana isn't suggesting trade Turner, Phoenix saying trade Booker, or Denver saying trade Jokic, and these are 3 examples of players who are a few notches below KP level talent.

And what is the goal? To draft a player with the number 1 pick that MAYBE has as much upside as KP? Based on shear odds, it is unlikely to happen. Odds of landing a great player with both picks, even less likely. I don't get the logic of trading a potential star for an opportunity to draft a potential star. Why not just develop the one you already have?

Its a no brainer and Philly would NOT do it.

Philly wouldn't do it simply because at some point they need to balance out their roster. They can't keep adding big men. Most NBA teams, if they are just talking about talent and not fit, would do that deal everyday and twice on sunday. Any smart team would deal multiple draft picks for KP. Proven young talent trumps lottery picks. It's like winning a 1 million dollar lottery and putting all of those winnings back in for the 30 million dollar powerball. But fortunately the Knicks would never make that deal. We see how few truly elite players come out of the lottery and how some teams miss year after year, just trying to land someone like KP as a foundation piece. I think it's crazy to even suggest, but this is an open forum, so i guess crazy talk is welcomed.

I am not sure if I ask this question on this board but last year I asked if anyone would trade KP for Giannis and of course all said no.
So I'll ask this question on this board.
Who would you be okay with the Knicks trading KP for or what kind if package would you want in return.
Durant, LBJ, Curry, Davis, Leonard, Harden, and Westbrook are off the table.

Only young players you can even consider are Towns and Giannis. Definitely not Embiid because he's older and has greater injury risks. KP is as close to untouchable as you can get. Absolutely not for lottery picks because that is a game of chance and not a great one. Who knows how good KP will be, but you have to like his chances given his age, talent, and work ethic. He seems to check all of the boxes, and only a couple others in his age group in the entire league check all the boxes as well. I'm sure Dallas never even thoughts about dealing a young Dirk, and of course the Knicks never will either.

Jokic would be on that list too. Also, if I could get Indiana to put together a pkg to go with Turner I'd think about it too.
Has there ever been a Hershal Walker type trade in the NBA? There probably has but lacked the results.

The Brooklyn Nets have acquired Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Jason Terry and D.J. White from the Boston Celtics in exchange for Gerald Wallace, Kris Humphries, MarShon Brooks, Kris Joseph, Keith Bogans and three first round draft picks (2014, 2016 and 2018), as well as the right to swap first round picks in 2017, Nets General Manager Billy King has announced.

KP is better than both of them, with much more upside. Never trade down in talent. Jokic was averaging 10 and 7 with poor defense until they changed the lineup to feature him. He has excelled, but still doesn't have the upside KP has, especially on the defensive end. He just isn't very tall or athletic for a center, which limits his upside, but he's a very good player. I just don't see how you can even consider those types of deals. For those who question KP's abilities here now, they would be very disappointed with some of these other guys. Knicks fans are never satisfied, case in point here, where we have the best young talent since Ewing, and the board is flooded with trade proposals and saying we should bench him, from a bad stretch of games, coming off injury. Jokic has nowhere near the potential of KP. Would be one of the worst deals in recent history for either player.

I do agree with that. No one on our team is untradeable. But IMO your trade is way too little to get for KP. I'd trade him for 2 first rounders but they'd have to be picks 1 and 2 or close to that.

Giannis has taken huge steps forward though and I think that's a trade most objective outsiders would make now. I don't think anyone in Mil would trade Giannis for KP.

I don't think either team would do it. I think KP and Giannis are as close to untradeable that the league has. Homegrown talent trumps all. But all of this is pointless since knicks will never consider dealing kp.
