He's great. His shot is the drawback, but that can be added in time. His playmaking, speed, and defense are elite. There are about 12 players in this draft who would be top 5-6 in most drafts. And even though i don't see any franchise players in this group, i think there will be a lot of all-stars or close to it, and once you get past the top 2 or 3 players, there's little to no difference between the remaining in that group. It's all preference. Basically what i am saying is, we need to get into that top 12. Looks like we are already there. But top 8 would probably solidify getting one of the 5 PGs, and Fox is a great option. I think at worst he's a better version of Rubio, at best he's a poor-man's Wall.

Yeah, that is what I saw with him - I did have the poor man's Wall thought, too. I really liked his game. I feel like he'd be a great fit for KP and what Hornacek wants to do... though not necessarily what Phil wants to do.

It'll be very interesting to see where the pick lines up - there are already a few guys I really like a lot from what little college bball I've seen this year.

We'd be 11th pick right now... but we're only 3 games out of the 4/5/6 pick range - lots of teams have 18, 19 wins.

He might not be Phil's ideal PG, but Phil likes big PGs who can defend, and Fox and the french PG, who will likely be the 2 in our range, both fit the bill.

I don't know the French PG, but I like both Kentucky guards - Malik Monk and Fox

We'll then re-sign Rose if he's willing to do a fourth year team option, something like $100M over 4 years (fourth year being a team option). With extra capspace we probably look to sign a wing to replace Melo's spot in the starting 5. Could see us

Next year (future age)
STARTERS:
Hernangomez 23
Porzingis 22
Tatum 19 (Lotto #10 or so)
Rivers 25
Rose 29

BENCH:
O'Quinn 26
Thomas 28
Kuz 28
Holiday 28
Lee 31
+A few other bench free agents
Plumlee and Baker back for camp to show they can make the roster.
Noah's trade bait but no one touches him so we keep him as our 3rd big, mainly as injury resere, great practice intensity player, mentoring etc.

I mean I can't see us do much else at this point. We're not getting an ELITE point guard TALENT where we will draft (10 or so). The top elite PG's all are drafted by 5 or 6. We won't be signing Chris Paul or Steph Curry in free agency, I'm sure we'll try.

I'm not saying this is my plan, but I see us doing that as it's realistic. I do think we'll play better in Horny's system next year having many of the players back knowing what they are supposed to be ready for. Additionally we'll play better in this style of play if the team is younger and fresher. Phil is an Austin Rivers fan. Rose is 29 next year. The average age of Rivers, Rose, Willy, KP and a lottery pick will be 23-23.5. It's the right direction longterm, even if we're getting screwed in a Melo return trade wise and unlikely to make the playoffs next year unless KP makes another jump.

We're currently slated for the 11th pick based on record and you think we'd only jump one spot AFTER trading Melo? There is only 5 or so losses seperating us from the team with the 2nd worst record and many of the teams between us and them are still trying to win ball games (see the Mavericks and the 8-win streak Heat). If we truly tank while developing young players in the process, we should be easily able to move into position to draft a top-tier PG. If we have the foresight to do that remains to be seen but we definitely should.

Melo's being shopped. Dolan needs a star to represent the team and isn't going to allow Phil Jackson in year 4 of his deal to sell him on a 20 win team. There has to be some star power on the Knicks, just the way it is, and that's Rose and KP. Or Melo and KP. I'm not a fan of Rose at all, but I think the Knicks will struggle to sign anyone this coming summer in free agency. Rose is their only star option who would possibly pick them, mainly because we'll likely pay him the most (foolishly). I've just come to terms with that. Knicks won't full out rebuild, but they can rebuild through the draft and youth movement while still having some stars make the team marketable for Dolan. I mean Dolan wnats butts in the seats. People won't come see a team of nobodies and KP. KP and Rose makes it a bit better more marketable. Same with KP and Melo. I see one of Melo/Rose definitely here next year.

KP is already a big-ticket draw and household name. We don't need hacks like Rose to keep the fan base interested. And if we position ourselves to actually win the lottery and walk away with a Markelle Fultz, you don't think that'd be even MORE marketable?

Yeah, this is why I hope we can get our position up to at least 5th or 6th. Teams in 5th or 6th jump up in the top spot all the time.

Exactly, I forget the stat but it is a rarity for the team with the absolute worst record to actually win the lottery. So long as we are in the top 4-6, we should viable contenders for the top overall pick.

Frank Nitilikina is slated to go 11th by Chad Ford and he could turn out to be elite.

I'd say at worst, he's Eldridge Payton. That wouldn't be bad as long as he hasad more dynamic wings to run with. I like Fox too, BTW. I would take a chance.
