Knicks · Need athletic upgrades (page 1)

It's whats missing on the team.

Guys like KP Willy etc.. they're good players but to slow unless paired with players who can compete at a higher level in terms of speed and athletic ability for the DEFENSIVE side of the ball.

I think we need to focus on players with speed and athleticism to match these guys up and make everything more effective.

Briggs, you said we were one player away?

We need a lot. Where to begin?

Talent
BBIQ
3pt shooting
Defense
Mental toughness
Leadership
Speed
Athleticism
Length

What else??

Caseloads @ 2/1/2017 1:34 AM
Leadership, defense. COACHING.
Bonn1997 @ 2/1/2017 12:01 PM
Couldn't you say this every year for the past 15 years?

What's missing on the team is a young no name GM who has paid his dues on a winning franchise who is given the keys to run the franchise as he sees fit.

The team cannot rest on also factoring in Jackson's desire to protect his legacy or operate as his golden parachute retirement plan.

The team needs to build organically through the draft and progressively over time. No quick fixes because no quick fixes exist. The Rose and Noah signings were examples of quick fix mentality from an aging team president who only cares about the next year, not the next 10 years, because he won't be here five years from now.

Getting the players right only matters AFTER you get the decision makers right. You pick the right decision makers, the good players will come organically in their own time.

you say build through the draft but critize phil, the guy has drafted well he just has no picks. Willy is a real nice player for a 2nd rounder

If you read the bold, it's clear that FA signings and trades are what he's criticizing Phil for.
Phil's had a lot of cap space. If he's not capable of getting good top tier players, he could have made smaller deals or he could have taken back bad contracts and gotten picks for doing so. Instead of spending $120 mil on Noah and Lee, he could have likely gotten many draft picks in exchange for bailing team(s) out of $120 mil in salaries. I'd rather just do the small FA signing approach but getting picks would be better than just blowing $120 mil.

yep we need athletic wings and a combo forward off the bench to bring that energy. We havent had a real good 2 guard in years. i was so frickin pissed when we passed on Derozan for jordan hill awful frickin pick

NYKBocker @ 2/2/2017 10:06 AM
The only thing we are missing is a true pass first PG. We already have the wings in CLee, Holiday and Kuz. We desperately need that PG.

it appears to be a pretty deep draft for PGs this year so there finally appears to be a break going our way
