I think the holdup is them fighting over the inclusion of Redick, who can definitely get the Knicks back a 1st round pick from a contender, but leaves the Clippers extremely bare at SG. If we land Rivers, Brice Johnson, 2021 draft pick, and another 1st round pick via 3rd team, we have to take it at this point and just move on.
Holiday isnt as good as Redick, but could smooth that roster out for them if they trade for Melo. We could include him for perhaps a protected future #1 or some #2s etc.

If he makes the deal better and we get a little extra something back that is fine. I like Holiday a lot but he's also a FA. He's been good for us and overall has been a pleasant surprise in my opinion, but we can move on without him if needed.

I agree... this has Melo to LA written all over it.

so you can see the clippers beating the GSW or even the SPURS without a solid SG, and a aging melo..they will left with felton as the loan back up guard...

melo is not going anywhere or it would have been done already.

Im betting phil goes before melo, then melo will waive is NTC

The highlighted isn't true. Things were always more likely to happen the closer we get to the deadline. Teams get more motivated to get a deal done.

Absolutely but there also have been reports that Melo never actually gave a list. Now Wojo is reporting that Melo wants to stay at least in part because of how Phil is handling this. If you ask me to place a bet I would say Melo is here after the deadline.

Melo can stay but he needs to know that Phil is in charge and he can break this team down around him!!! It's STUPID for Melo to insist on staying and standing in the way of the team rebuild. If Melo was playing harder and being the leader he should be then he would snatch up Rose and tell him to get his head out of his ass! Melo would take ownership of the team and get back to playing TEAM BALL!

Melo is the one that has refused to buy in to TRAM BALL and be a leader this year. Last year Melo was much more team oriented. At least for a while. This year he's just not putting in the effort to play TEAM BALL and demand everyone else does too.

Lets stop being knick fans for a second, we were predicted to win 30+ games base on the roster. Who put this Roster together... I always laugh at the predictions only because we were predicted to win 40+ games and won 54.

When i was rooting for AMARE to stay a knick, most killed me as if Amare was the reason we were a bad team, and we got even worse after he left.
He ends up retiring a KNICK

WE MaDE THE PLAYOFFS 3 YEARS STRAIGHT prior to phil (even if it was a round or 2), with ONE bad contract (amare), the minute he set foot here, we miss the playoffs by ONE game..Go figure..a 17 win season (rebuild mode)TOP pick solid role players( that produce 32 wins) If this Roster does not make the playoffs this year phil is gone.

I wasn't wrong about amare, woodson, and fisher. Trust me, he is going to quit, or get fired(especially if melo is still here, which i think he will be) if we dont make the playoffs..3rd time is a charm. NO WAY Dolan is Going for another RESET in a billion dollar areana,He has Investors to answer to

This team should've been able to win more games than this if Melo and Rose had bought into playing TEAM BALL. There's nothing wrong with them that would prevent them from passing the damn ball and playing harder on D. Really this is about players not playing up to their capabilities.

It doesn't take any extra energy to look for your teammates when they're open and you've drawn a double team. I can go and show TONS of instances where a SIMPLE dump off from Rose or pass out to open shooters by Melo would've made all the difference. They simply don't put it all on the line every night and there's no reason they can't do it. If Melo and Rose had stepped up then everyone else would've followed. They of course still can but I have no faith that they will.

This isn't about Phil but the Media and some fans want to make it about him. The young players play harder and play together as a team.

Rivers looks good so far. He gets to the basket, passes, and can shoot. I would take him as the main piece for melo. He fits this team if we are trying to build a team around porzingis. A good SG and secondary playmaker and shot maker.

If the Knicks trade with the Clippers, likely they will get Rivers, have to eat Crawfords contract and get nothing better than 2nd rounders if draft picks are involved.

The trade kicker and salary matching is a massive problem. There is simply no way that the Knicks can avoid Crawford in a deal and if they don't want him, no one else wants him either. If Noah and Crawford are basically dead contracts, then it's in the Knicks interest to let Rose expire and to trade Lee as soon as possible and start tanking.

Knicks fans spent YEARS waiting for Bargs and STAT to come off the books with those horrid contracts. Now they will likely be stuck waiting YEARS MORE for Noah and Crawford to come off the books as well. It's just hard to build a functional basketball team with multiple cap killing contracts.

The Knicks are trying to avoid taking Crawford but don't have the assets to package him away off their roster in a three or four team deal.

Crawford only has 1 more guaranteed year on his contract. Not really sure why this is an issue. It's not YEARS, it's 1 single year.
