Knicks · Dolan with cowardly, pathetic treatment of Oakley at the Knicks game. This is why we're cursed. (page 4)

Point blank period.

I can't get over this embarrassment.

I am ashamed and angry that we have this man as our owner.

Why does it have to be us? What did we do to deserve this cancer as our owner? Why, for the love of God, can't he go away?

And how do you feel about a grown man getting violent and putting his hands on people in front of a arena full of children when it never needed to go that far?? How do you feel about that??

Chandler @ 2/9/2017 10:02 AM
What we all can agree on is that it should never have come to this

Of course oak felt disrespected multiple times over. From trade to no roll (/sheesh Larry Johnson has a role) to being blacklisted. All of that was poor form

But you have to agree his being where he was (near Dolan not some random place) was not a coincidence. Does anyone truly believe a security detail went there unprovoked? And whether oak likes to be touched or not when you're asked to leave you don't start pushing people around. Also let's not pretend he's a nice man. He relishes the role of Being tougher than the next guy.

Oak flubbed here. Dolan flubbed everywhere else

Well you're obviously a young guy or you just don't live in reality cause it's so obvious to people that live in the real world that Oak is so in the wrong here and Dolan did nothing but sit in his seat and watch his team play. We all don't care much for J.Dolan but what happened last night had nothing to do with him.

oak put himself in the position.
Oak was a paid employee of the knicks. He played here, was loved, played hard, then got traded.
He crossed a line. Many players can be critical. Oak might have told the truth, but he crossed a line.

He crossed a line tonight?

Why hasn't he been invited to any of the Knicks 70th anniversary events? Or any Knicks night ever that honors their great players?

Dolan created this situation by being a miserable sack of sh!t

I agree w Nalod. What were they supposed to do, let oak just tee off

Having said that they have not treated him well and seemed hyper sensitive to his criticism

Oakley claimed he was not saying anything until security came over and asked him to leave. Video interview here -

I guess I'm not in reality. It sounds like to me he said something about Dolan and he ran to get the security guards and had him thrown out. That's my stance on it. I didn't see anything Oakley did in any of the tapes that justifies arresting an organizational gem. BTW, now that you got me pegged, I got you pegged: weak and feeble

What are you talking about? We all love what Oak did for the Knicks in his playing days but he's more than wrong in this whole thing. Dolan was watching his team that he owns in his arena and he has to deal with this big monster sit behind him yelling cuss words and other expletives at him? Oak is wrong and created a mess at the Garden last night.

I'm not saying Oak was a saint here, but I handle such situations regularly, not as law enforcement/security, but you usually you shouldn't touch someone who's escalating like that unless you absolutely have to, especially if other people can get hurt nearby. The dude he points the finger in the face to did touch him moments before that, which did not seem necessary as it could have led to making Oak angrier, which I am gathering it did.

Who you are doesn't matter when you put your hands on people especially when those people did nothing wrong but do their jobs but i guess in your world you can put your hands on people that did nothing wrong to you...lol

If oakley was yelling at Dolan and warned prior to the altercation we all saw, then he was in the wrong and everyone should move on. Not sure how anyone can defend Oakley's actions.
HofstraBBall @ 2/9/2017 10:54 AM
Oakley should have kept his hands off security. They were just doing their job.

With that said, this just goes to show the inept management, ownership, CEO that is MSG. All which directly comes from the top. Mr. James Pudge Dolan. His inability to manage a simple crisis, an organazation and himself goes to show the lack of maturity. This guy is a spoiled little kid and he acts like it in every part of life. A two rate bouncer at a dive bar would have done a better job defusing the altercation. Pitiful.

That might be the case for a pissed off fan yelling rants to shut it up, but a player that gave his all, his sweat blood and tears. The venom is a bit different to say the least

Nalod @ 2/9/2017 10:56 AM
There are differing accounts of what led to security approaching Oakley’s group. Some fans and sources backed up Oakley’s side that he was simply watching the games. Others say he “smelled of alcohol” and was hurling taunts at Knicks owner James Dolan, who was sitting rows in front of him.

Why should a celebrity/former Knick be held to a different standard? If anything, the standard should be higher, not lower.

Taking this situation out of context, maybe. When you consider that Oakley is beloved former player who has been treated this way by Dolan for 15+ years now... it is just a shame.

I'm not defending Oakley's actions last night. I don't know enough about what happened.

But I'm really sad it came to this point. And the reason it came to this point is 100% because Dolan is a petty little b!!!tch.

smelled of alcohol..I.E..Beer that most every other fan in the building probably smelled of...fluck Dolan!

Vmart @ 2/9/2017 11:54 AM
I don't think anyone goes to a game to have insults hurled at them. If someone is doing that than it is abusive and considered a threat. Oakley was in the wrong end of story.
franco12 @ 2/9/2017 11:58 AM
from what I saw of the video, Oak only responded when surrounded & touched repeatedly by security.

Look - if Security was asked to escort him out, me - I would have gone up alone, sat down next to him. Told him what a fan I was, but then explained he had to leave. If he resisted, I would come back with colleagues and NYPD and he would be forcibly removed.

I would apologize, but then explain I had to do my job.

No one will argue it's sad and Dolan is a bad owner. I just don't think this particular incident should be a reflection on Dolan or the Knicks. Only Oakley, and his anger management issues.

I disagree... the owner started the situation by rounding up a posse (correct usage) and confronted Oakley. I think Dolan and the MSG staff insitigated, probably because Oak was heckling. Which by the way, I also would have a problem if Johnny Smith got kicked out for screaming what we all know to be true about Jimmy D

Hahaha, nice proper usage of posse.

Nalod @ 2/9/2017 12:20 PM
Im going to guess that security would remove any unruly fan yelling at another fan. I think a posse could quickly defuse a situation better than one or two. You don't want any altercation spilling onto any other ticket holder.

Lets not forget Charles was Traded from Bulls for Cartwright. Phil was on the bulls staff. Not sure what he and Phil's relationship is. Phil did come down and try to calm Charles down according to reports.
