2 sides to every story. Oak has never given me any reason that he is a liar. Dolan on the other hand is just pathetic. Oak said he never said anything. They knew Oak would get physical if confronted and they started touching him. I am so mad and embarrassed.

Dolan maybe within his rights to do this. But only on a narrow interpretation of "right". Dolan doesn't have a sufficient moral compass to understand that shoving your rights down someone's throat and publicly humiliating a fan favorite and one of the most iconic knicks of our era is clearly the dumbest thing he can do for the brand.
Dolan is and idiot man child just like Trump. And the dysfunction surrounding the Knicks is a good firsthand example of what is about to happen to this country. People will be and already are being escorted out of Govt workplaces for disagreeing with him.

Really surprised so many people are backing Oakley in this instance. I don't see how Oakley behaved can be viewed as acceptable. I don't see how the Knicks are responsible for him physically abusing security and police. The press release the Knicks released was in poor taste, it could have been said differently, but it wasn't false. Dolan doesn't owe Oakley anything. If he doesn't want to "make up" with Oakley for forgive him for whatever issues they have had in the past, that's his right. I'm just not sure how so many can side with Oakley on this, when he has been known for his erratic behavior for years, and this is just another example.

Oak picks this game to be there, sits there by Dolan, and knows that he'll be asked to leave. Look at video of game 7 aftermath of finals last spring. Oak was there, got into it with security and begged them to touch him. He wants fans sympathy and chose this moment on national TV to happen.

Lets be clear, its not a matter of right or wrong, hero or villain, its Oak.
Oak was enraged when he was traded for Camby. In the business of basketball, it was a brilliant trade. Oak was one of JVG soldiers and JVG rebelled about making the knicks modern. Ewing rebelled against Nelson and was loyal to JVG. In the end Grunfeld wanted the team to run and he was right.
Dolan was just taking over the team and was weak. He was afraid of Ewing leaving and caved. While I would have been upset then by our star bolting, in hindsight this was the very telling. He should have left Grunfeld alone to make basketball decisions even if fans were upset, because in the long run thats what good teams do, they put the franchise first. Winning.
We all miss Oak and the toughness. We have enabled the fable of Oak, and maybe Oak has held on to this persona as a way of staying relevant. Its been a long time. We should all move on. Oak needs to evolve and understand he got traded is not a personal thing. Team wanted to move forward. It was handled bad then, as we are doing the same with Melo. Kudo's to Melo for handling this maturely. Phil needs to clean it up. Its his job.

People are backing Oakley, because they like Oakley and identify an era of Knicks greatness with him. We didn't win a championship but were perennial contenders and a respectable team. People don't see how anything Dolan had been credited with doing has ever helped the franchise. From hiring Isiah to forcing us to gut the team to get Melo, to defending a prick in a sexual harassment case.
For someone who had laid out everything he had for the team, every time he took the floor, maybe just maybe he could treat him with more respect.
I already agreed that Dolan was within his rights to do what he did. But he had the opportunity to be the bigger person and treat Oakley with respect instead of excommunication him from all Knicks events. And he chose not to.

I don't think Oak ever forgave the knicks for trading him, and then not bringing him and ewing back in some capacity.

That has to send ripples throuhg the league, from players, coaches.
