oak put himself in the position.
Oak was a paid employee of the knicks. He played here, was loved, played hard, then got traded.
He crossed a line. Many players can be critical. Oak might have told the truth, but he crossed a line.

He crossed a line tonight?

Why hasn't he been invited to any of the Knicks 70th anniversary events? Or any Knicks night ever that honors their great players?

Dolan created this situation by being a miserable sack of sh!t

I agree w Nalod. What were they supposed to do, let oak just tee off

Having said that they have not treated him well and seemed hyper sensitive to his criticism

Oakley claimed he was not saying anything until security came over and asked him to leave. Video interview here -

James Dolan, the worst owner in sports. End of story.

Point blank period.

I can't get over this embarrassment.

I am ashamed and angry that we have this man as our owner.

Why does it have to be us? What did we do to deserve this cancer as our owner? Why, for the love of God, can't he go away?

JamesKPolk @ 2/9/2017 3:14 AM
crzymdups wrote:Why was he barred from entering the Garden in the first place? They charged him with criminal trespassing.

Dolan has banned him from MSG for criticizing him and the team, particularly during the Isiah era. And we all know how sensitive Dolan gets over Isiah. He even kicked out Marv Albert for the same thing.

I just hate this man with everything in my body. I have never hated any individual in sports the way I do this man. Everything he stands for and everything he is is a disgrace. He is a total failure outside of being a silver spooned alcoholic who stumbled onto a television empire. He is unfit to run any company, particularly a sports franchise. 2017 is 20 years of ownership under James Dolan. What does he have to show for it other than turmoil and embarrassment?

ESOMKnicks @ 2/9/2017 5:11 AM
Screw Dolan, screw Phil, Oak's the man and always will be.
NYKBocker @ 2/9/2017 5:43 AM
2 sides to every story. Oak has never given me any reason that he is a liar. Dolan on the other hand is just pathetic. Oak said he never said anything. They knew Oak would get physical if confronted and they started touching him. I am so mad and embarrassed.
franco12 @ 2/9/2017 6:54 AM
it's stuff like this that is slowly killing my love of this franchise.

It's probably healthier to be an ex fan.

meloshouldgo @ 2/9/2017 7:22 AM
Dolan maybe within his rights to do this. But only on a narrow interpretation of "right". Dolan doesn't have a sufficient moral compass to understand that shoving your rights down someone's throat and publicly humiliating a fan favorite and one of the most iconic knicks of our era is clearly the dumbest thing he can do for the brand.

Dolan is and idiot man child just like Trump. And the dysfunction surrounding the Knicks is a good firsthand example of what is about to happen to this country. People will be and already are being escorted out of Govt workplaces for disagreeing with him.

Really surprised so many people are backing Oakley in this instance. I don't see how Oakley behaved can be viewed as acceptable. I don't see how the Knicks are responsible for him physically abusing security and police. The press release the Knicks released was in poor taste, it could have been said differently, but it wasn't false. Dolan doesn't owe Oakley anything. If he doesn't want to "make up" with Oakley for forgive him for whatever issues they have had in the past, that's his right. I'm just not sure how so many can side with Oakley on this, when he has been known for his erratic behavior for years, and this is just another example.

He was banned previously? correct?
Its a private enterprise.
Hey, Im not arguing that Dolan is getting it right. Im no fan of his. What the Phuch you think "Nalod" means? its "Dolan" backwards! Cuz, he gets it wrong.

Don't matter what you think of the man, you can't go to a private place you been told you can't be at , and yell at the owner. If you told to stop, not an unreadable request, you don't then start a beef with security.

Yeah this is exactly right. Not sure how anything of this falls on Dolan with what we saw from Oakley.

Yup...even by Oak's own words he paints a picture where he was wrong.

Asked to leave. Does not. Asked to leave. Does not. Attempted to be escorted out nicely...starts pushing and hitting security guards and police. Arrested....by the police....not the Knicks.

Not sure why the rift between Dolan and Oak exists...but really its not of importance to this matter.

Nalod @ 2/9/2017 9:07 AM
once a knick........

Some of y'all are all wanting to never heal the pain of Charles Smith.
We welcomed back LJ, Mase, Starks, and others.........Mase and Starks were our blue collar heroes and both traded.
Like Oak.

Oak picks this game to be there, sits there by Dolan, and knows that he'll be asked to leave. Look at video of game 7 aftermath of finals last spring. Oak was there, got into it with security and begged them to touch him. He wants fans sympathy and chose this moment on national TV to happen.

Dolan is a douce, and Oak is a strange one. Has Trump chimed in yet???

SupremeCommander @ 2/9/2017 9:19 AM
He's a Knicks legend. He's done more for this team than any of the asshats in this circus now. I'm sorry - you don't pop off like that "just because" and I'll take his word over anything that comes out of Dolan's chubby cheeks

So because he's a Knick legend, he can fight security and police? Whatever happened up to that point, is meaningless when you make yourself appear as unstable and a loose cannon.

Lets be clear, its not a matter of right or wrong, hero or villain, its Oak.
Oak was enraged when he was traded for Camby. In the business of basketball, it was a brilliant trade. Oak was one of JVG soldiers and JVG rebelled about making the knicks modern. Ewing rebelled against Nelson and was loyal to JVG. In the end Grunfeld wanted the team to run and he was right.

Dolan was just taking over the team and was weak. He was afraid of Ewing leaving and caved. While I would have been upset then by our star bolting, in hindsight this was the very telling. He should have left Grunfeld alone to make basketball decisions even if fans were upset, because in the long run thats what good teams do, they put the franchise first. Winning.

We all miss Oak and the toughness. We have enabled the fable of Oak, and maybe Oak has held on to this persona as a way of staying relevant. Its been a long time. We should all move on. Oak needs to evolve and understand he got traded is not a personal thing. Team wanted to move forward. It was handled bad then, as we are doing the same with Melo. Kudo's to Melo for handling this maturely. Phil needs to clean it up. Its his job.

People are backing Oakley, because they like Oakley and identify an era of Knicks greatness with him. We didn't win a championship but were perennial contenders and a respectable team. People don't see how anything Dolan had been credited with doing has ever helped the franchise. From hiring Isiah to forcing us to gut the team to get Melo, to defending a prick in a sexual harassment case.

For someone who had laid out everything he had for the team, every time he took the floor, maybe just maybe he could treat him with more respect.

I already agreed that Dolan was within his rights to do what he did. But he had the opportunity to be the bigger person and treat Oakley with respect instead of excommunication him from all Knicks events. And he chose not to.

I don't think Oak ever forgave the knicks for trading him, and then not bringing him and ewing back in some capacity.

What are you talking about? We all love what Oak did for the Knicks in his playing days but he's more than wrong in this whole thing. Dolan was watching his team that he owns in his arena and he has to deal with this big monster sit behind him yelling cuss words and other expletives at him? Oak is wrong and created a mess at the Garden last night.

knicks1248 @ 2/9/2017 9:46 AM
Most of these players in the NBA grew up watching Oak be the enforcer for the knicks in the 90's when we were a top team every year, to watch them treat a guy that gave his heart and sole to the franchise for 10 years, not to mention he had to buy a ticket, live on ESPN (watched arund the world).

That has to send ripples throuhg the league, from players, coaches.

I need to find another team to root for

Oh so Oak says he didn't say anything to Dolan?? You don't say, lol. Ian Begley spoke with people that were sitting there and they said that Oak was absolutely yelling things towards Dolan before security ever went up ti him. We all love Oak but you need to live in the real world for a minute on this and say what every logical person knows which was that Oak was in the wrong without a doubt on this.

So Dolan represent Trump and Oak represent Trump opposition.
Hmm... Makes perfect sense. Kind of symbolic event...
