Knicks · Can Kevin Love's knee situation get him traded to Knicks?? (page 1)

TLover @ 2/13/2017 7:22 PM
If Love is going to need a procedure, which means he won't be 100% till next season, maybe the Cavs do trade him for Melo (assuming Melo waives to play with Lebron & friends)
meloshouldgo @ 2/13/2017 7:38 PM
Yeah, can't wait to have the first episode between Love-Lovers and Love-Haters on this forum!! There may even be a few suckers for Love! JUST BRING IT!!

I don't think you can trade injured players, I maybe wrong though.
Vmart @ 2/13/2017 7:44 PM
Been down that road no live for injured players. If they put on a Knicks unit it means the end of a career.

I think the Knicks would have to waive his physical.

The knicks are dumber enough to DO that...They probably waived NOAHs physical to

worse - I think our medical staff cleared him!

Nice! I was hoping for another dead body. I was missing Amare. Guy has the knee/back issue combo. I think I could survive without obtaining that and an extra yr at the max.

Knicks Medical Staff has improved. That's been statistically proven. We have stop relying on old cliches. Phil added to the staff and they've made a difference.

The Love thing seems a bit too much for the Trade to go thru. Best look elsewhere for a young player and picks.

Why would you guys want an injured player?

If anything I am holding out a little hope the Celtics make a trade for Melo because the Cavs look weak and adding Melo now would give them the best chance to come out the East.

The idea would be that if it was a minor meniscus tear (or something non-chronic), you'd sit and rehab him the rest of the year, and then move him at the draft- allows you to buy low, sell high, and tank at the same time. With Melo we're restricted to moving him to two teams, Love has no such restrictions so you can get a higher return. However I am suspicious that he is starting to break down.

Waiving the medical doesn't mean you don't do a medical, it just means that you're saying you're okay with whatever came up, and know they're not healthy.

Our medical team have actually been good for years- they've have been absolutely right about a lot of things

Polite smokescreen.

LBJ is the real decision maker for the Cavs, which is why they've made such horrible moves in the first place. Trading Wiggins for Love was idiotic. There is no other way around it. Wiggins was a plus defender, a solid top shelf wing defender at the NBA level when he was drafted. This would have alleviated LBJ from needing to be the primary wing defender and avoided needing to trade for Shump and JR ( which would have avoided the need to resign JR in the first place) Wiggins would have been cost controlled as well, opening up up free agent dollars. LBJ is essentially a point power forward at this point. So paying a good young rookie asset into a max contract for a redundant position with low positional value ( i.e. also resigning Tristan Thompson, who has the same agent, to a massive deal, for an energy guy who can't defend the rim, can't shoot long range and can't play center) is just idiotic.

Trading a 28 year old All Star, who has actually shown to have adapted his game to LBJ's brand of iso crab dribble ball, for an aging no defense gunner and having that come out in public is also an idiotic move. So was signing Anderson Varejao to a nice fat extension only to have him turn into dead money and giving cash to guys like Mike Miller and burning two top picks for Mozgov.

LBJ as a defacto GM is an idiot. Just a plain idiot. He took a time with assets and created yet another poor fit, like Miami, that is resource drained and capped out.

So to cover for said idiot, instead of creating more press about Love getting traded, yet again, killing the guys overall morale, the team and Nike's marketing department, decides the best way to avoid the Love being traded discussion and LBJ trying to drive a young All Star off the team for an aging gunner who can be had for pennies on the dollar for bad contracts and cap space is to hash up any injury issues possible near the deadline to not have to shade LBJ's ego. See Love is damaged goods, LBJ was "right" to want to trade him, but now you can't trade him. Which would be an idiotic personnel move.

Why the league doesn't just let a Nike official walk onto the court and decide when LBJ should get to shoot free throws at this point is beyond me.

Love is not coming to the Knicks. If the Knicks COULD trade Melo for a Love package, they should do so in a heart beat. Love can actually adapt and play efficiently, and he's younger, and his floor is an elite stretch 4. He doesn't need to be super mobile to drop corner threes at an elite rate and he can drop corner threes at an elite rate.

As much as I hate Boston and the Patriots, and even if he's a cheater, Tom Brady actually has the charisma and media saavy to handle himself without dragging his team down and into the mud even further. He's not a complete and total idiot in the press. He's not going to have a 30 minute special dragging his team into the ground then need Nike to make commercials to make it all better. LBJ is a once in a generation player, but almost completely and totally tone deaf, while being arrogant and horrible at personnel. It's like having a petulant man child throw tantrum after tantrum and having Nike clean up mess after mess.

Kevin Love is not getting traded. This is just basic PR/marketing to make LBJ look less like a blithering idiot. Everyone in Nike's marketing department should get a massive raise. In fact, if I was in Nike's marketing department, I would love LBJ, the guy is walking job security like no other. The guy should literally never speak again. He's a complete and total idiot. That the NBA marketing structure is set up to kiss his butt relentlessly anyway is hilarious.

Only LBJ would pay 4 dollars for a 75 cent asset.

I'd send him to another team if that's the case,

Anyway with Willy and KP, why do we want Love. As good a basketball player as Love is, I think KP will be a better player than him soon. Then you look at what works chemistry wise, KP and Willy or KP and Noah or KP and O'Quinn all are better combinations at 5/4 with an athletic 3/2/1 perimeter unit than Love.

Scoring is not our problem. Playmaking at the perimeter (passers who like to drive n kick or guards/wings that like to pass) and defenders are what we need. We don't need Love as bad as we need more athletic, defending and passing/playmaking perimeter players who have the gas in the tank to play Horny's high pace offense AND get back on defense with commitment.

Who do you think would be easier for us to trade? Love or Melo? I'd rather have the more tradeable asset and I think that's Love. I'd rather just get expiring contracts for Melo but I don't think we can.
Nalod @ 2/14/2017 10:29 AM
First off, what is his exact condition? Slight tear of the knee? Trade melo, then shelve Love and not rush him back for playoffs is best for him, terrible for Lebron who is racing against the clock.
For the money, is Love and KP compatable? I think so.
What about Rose?
Hate to say it, but Noah is a bench player, KOQ or Willy is trade fodder as one won't see much time next year.
This is a good problem.
Lebron has a pretty good path to the finals this year, more so with Melo than a banged up Love.
If Love is hurt, this puts the east in play because the next level of teams such as the Wiz, ATL, Boston and Toronto can make a deal to jump.
If Clev has any thought to moving Love now, A market might exist for Melo which drives up his value, but of course only if he agrees.
To Salary has to be moved to make a fit, but also key players Cannot be otherwise the cupboard is empty. Thus, we need Yoot not needed for a core run, or Draft picks..
This is not a bad thing, more likely not an opportunity if Melo is content to wallow in mediocrity in the comfort of his home, and all Gotham City has to offer!!!

The one who doesn't have a NTC would be easier. Thus, Love.

With Love's knee I would tell the Cavs Melo for Love, 2 1st rounders and a 2nd rounder. Fuck em.
TLover @ 2/14/2017 1:09 PM
With Love out 6 weeks..do the Cavs wait for him? I know they just need him in the playoffs but still continuity can definitely be compromised. If Love's condition is not chronic, you make the deal.

We can only hope.

5 players avg. 20/10 --- Love, Boogie, Towns, Westbrook and AD.

Most teams would wait.
Lebron is chasing ghosts. Trade kicker is a beast. I'd throw in Jennings
