Knicks · Begley saying multiple teams looking at Rose (page 3)

Have always been disappointed that Rubio did not work on his shot, but with us he would have a good pick and roll target with Willy, and 2 scorers, Melo and KP who would benefit from his passing.
I think KP would benefit the most from Rubio.
For the T-Wolves it would be a way to move Rubio's salary, but they are not too far from making the playoffs in the West.
Do Rose and Thibbs want a reunion, by the way? Is this a factor at all?

I wonder a lot about Rose/Thibs. If Thibs trades for Rose and doesn't resign him the relationship is done. I do think Rose benefits from an authoritarian like Thibs.

With the ZL injury, Wolves might benefit from another scorer...Might also give Dunn some more minutes at PG if they move Rose to SG at times. Obviously we have to take back some additional salary.
If they were to the ones calling us...I would also get a 2nd Rnd pick back.
Rose/Thibbs dynamic seems to be the important factor to me... We will see.

I agree- Rose seemed to have no respect for the new Bulls coach, and has zero respect for Hornacek

Rose is averaging 17 points a game this year... everyone knows he is electric going to the basket. I think a contender would love to have him coming off the bench. That contact is expiring so a teams trying to dump a contract or eliminate glut at a position should be calling the Knicks every day.
I would absolutely love to move Rose but the salary coming off the books is good too.

But if we keep him do you not think/worry that the FO will be compelled to keep him as an asset, much like we were compelled to give Melo his absurd contract? Other teams can play hardball with their FA, but we seem to cave right away, perhaps because we have limitless money to burn from Dolan.
If we don't trade Rose, and we don't release him, we're probably going to max him out over the summer.

He's more of a chucker than a good player. His true shooting percentage is lower than the worst team in the league and the Knicks are doing better with him off the court.

How do you make that assumption? Melo was already here. Phil and Melo cane ti an agreement. Melo wants ru be her to win a championship. Phil initially didn't want him but kept him if he agreed to change his game and get with the team concept. Melo tried but has since fallen back to his old ways.
In the case of Noah... Phil said he was in love with his approach to the game. He wanted him here. Other than that I don't think you can make the assumption that Rose is going to be maxed out. Phil took a shot at Rose because of his contract. The experiment didn't work. Phil did say we'd see how the year works out with him here at the press conference. It's not working. Phil wants to move Melo... so Rose can't be in the plans. Phil traded Shump and JR for nothing. I don't think he's afraid to let Rose walk.

I wouldn't mind a Rose for Rubio trade, it just means that we should aim for a PG in the draft.
NYKBocker@ 2/18/2017 10:23 AM
Rubio would be a perfect fit here. A pass first PG is what KP, Willy and Melo needs.

But if we have Rubio, why would we need to draft a point guard? At that point I'd just resign Jennings and draft a scorer like Monk if he's available

We could just go BPA if we had Rubio but i still wouldn't mind drafting a PG if we had Rubio and a good one was sitting there at our pick cause while i like what Rubio does with his passing and defense he still isn't a good shooter. If we drafted that PG from France Frank Nitkilina (spell check) he'd fit well cause a lot of people say he can play both guard positions especially with his size so we could play him and Rubio together and if Rubio isn't working out by the end of his contract which i think is like two more years then we can trade him or let him walk and have F.Nitkilina waiting to take over.

Having Rubio gives you options in the draft- if a great PG is available, take them and he can help mentor them then move to backup PG, if Josh Jackson or another top forward is available you can consider them.

Can't depend on him to be our starting point guard. Too injury prone for my liking and can't shoot.

if he starts with say Lee/Melo/KP/Willy he has 4 guys around him who can shoot from anywhere on the floor. That forces you to give Rubio the lane where he kills you with dribble penetration. If you collapse he's a drive and dish maestro. If you dont help he's not the best finisher but he will get a ton of layups and break down D. Rubio strikes me as a perfect fit. Might give us a playoff spot even. 10x better defender than Rose as well and most of his steals end in easy buckets. IMO great fit. Our shooters mask his lack of. KOQ and Holiday are also guys with range.

I'm with you. Also, Rose is addition by subtraction.
At the very least I could see Rubio limiting opposing PGs to not have career highs and bringing more of that infectious passing to the rest of guys on the floor. I was more in the let Rose walk for cap space vote boat, but I'd like to see an experienced pass first PG with KP.

Makes sense, and I just checked his injury history and he has played 80% of his games prior to this season. Not fantastic, but not too troubling either. In fact, getting him would be a bargain on our part considering the fact that, if the projections are right, then the likes of Jrue Holiday will be getting upwards of 18 million in FA. We'd be better off getting Rubio then acquiring either a scoring guard from the draft or resigning Jennings for continuity than getting another Noah-esque contract.
Consider me sold.

I want the Knicks to draft a fantastic dynamic energetic shooter, with 3 point range.

The Kings have been rumored Rose suitors forever. I saw a Knick friendly article that suggested WCS and Rudy Gay. I think the more likely trade would be Gay and McLemore.

I'd like WCS but only if we moved Noah somewhere (which we won't), they have nothing else I want player wise
smackeddog@ 2/19/2017 4:33 PM
I know it's a YouTube vid, but WCS does look great in it:
