Then why the hell not wait until the offseason before you blow it up?!?!?! So they could end up having essentially trade Cousins AND a top 3 2017 pick for Hield, a mid first rounder (Pelicans pick if they make the playoffs) and trash. Idiots.

cause if the pick was above 10 it would go to the Bulls, so they had to finesse it. And if they KEPT Cousins, they would be almost forced to give him the $200M contact and wouldn't be able to trade him for another full year. Their window was til Feb 23rd.

If they'd stuck with Cousins, they'd probably still have missed the playoffs and kept their pick. I have looked it up a bit further and the Sixers have the right to swap picks (rather than gain the pick out right), so they likely end up with the same pick number as they would have if they kept Cousins. I don't think they would have been forced to give Cousins the extention- would the return honestly have been worse if they'd left it until the the offseason.

you completely ignored what I said about the pick going to the Bulls.

Most critically, the Kings are virtually guaranteed to keep their own first-rounder. Under a trade made years ago, by a prior administration, the Kings were set to send their pick to the Chicago Bulls if it fell outside the top 10. As of Sunday, Sacramento was 11th in the draft order.

I'm curious about the pick and I haven't seen anyone mention this. Philly also has the right to swap picks with Sacramento this Summer. If Philly falls out of the top 10 and swaps picks with Sacramento does that pick then end up going to Chicago?

Makes the trade seem worse if possible.

I always think he gets a bum rap- what has he done that's so terrible in all his time in the league?

He's been a dick to teammates and reportedly bullied guys like Nick Stauskas.
