Knicks · If we dont get pick 1-2-3 (page 1)

BRIGGS @ 2/21/2017 10:40 AM
and just using reasonable logic--that if we dont get those 3 we pick 7 or higher, Im positive we should take Ky Bowman. And if that means using our pick in a smart way to trade down to pick up0 more assets--we should do that. He is ABSOLUTELY perfect for this team--no real flaw in his game unlike almost every other guard not in those top 3 spots. Tony Parker like speed Steph Curry like 3 point shooting great rebounder for his size good passer excellent ballhandler--its a GREAT savvy pick. No one is talking about him but hes better than Dearon Fox and Malik Monk etc.. He gets keyed on and he just keeps getting better. His assist total would be double if he had good teammates--especially in the frontcourt. If we can get two picks for our #1(again sub 3) with Bowman as the main pick and for example Caleb Swanigan as the other--we reinforce almost everything we do not have. We could tolerate a NON shooting PG like Rubio at times if we HAD a 3 point shooting PG like Bowman. This is a NOW pick this guy is a 3 point dagger shooter a top notch athlete and good size at 6-1 190. We NEED this draft to be a hit and we need a great guard WHO CAN SHOOT. In fact any PLAYER I acquire would have 3 point shoot capabilities sans a shot blocker. I see what Golden State and San Antonio do. We should follow their lead.

Best player available is the best way to go. Its impossible to say who we should pick quite yet

Hes the BPA after 3.

What happens if you trade back and he gets picked before us? Screwed

If he was on Kentucky he'd be a top 5 pick now. Who cares what a draft site says-- wait and watch

Maybe in a weak draft, like 2016, you can make the argument that a player completely off the radar is worth it, but not in this draft, where the top 10 is absolutely loaded.

Vmart @ 2/21/2017 1:35 PM
I'd take him in the second round. Seems like a decent player.

Because why draft him with a top 5 pick if he's going to be available in the second round or be undrafted?

I'm hoping we can trade down some and get all of Bowman Swanigan and Brooks

Those people saying overseas 2nd rounder are going to sound foolish.

Swishfm3 @ 2/21/2017 4:02 PM
Seen this kid play a bunch of times live...very athletic and can score in a variety of ways but inconsistent.

I doubt he is thinking about the draft this year but definitely a player to keep an eye on next year.

BigRedDog @ 2/21/2017 4:14 PM
I thought a week ago Monk was the greatest thing since Jordan?
crzymdups @ 2/21/2017 9:14 PM
I just hope Frank Kaminsky is still on the board when we pick.

You say he's ABSOLUTELY perfect for this team, the problem with that is NOBODY knows what our team will even look like around draft time and even after to say he's ABSOLUTELY perfect for this team.

callmened @ 2/21/2017 9:35 PM
i mean in the past few years BRIGGS has fallen in love with kaminsky, cauley-stein and d. valentine. its clear BRIGGS knows basketball but i cant tell if hes trying to find a sleeper pick or he actually believes these players to be good. the draft is always difficult to predict - thats why i dont predict anything. all i hope is that we get the best prospect - i base that on what i see with what the experts have seen.

i hope for dennis smith if we have a pick that high - if not id settle for deaaron fox

BRIGGS @ 2/21/2017 11:26 PM
Heres Bowmans ACC stats

2016-17 Boston College ACC 15 35.5 6.3 12.7 .500 3.5 6.7 .515 2.9 5.9 .483 2.4 3.5 .692 6.3 3.7 1.1 0.1 3.4 2.5 17.9

Hes averaging 18 points 6.3 rebounds 3.7 assists while AVERAGING oVER 48% from 3 on 6 a game and 52% from 2 with an efg over .63(which is by far the highest in the ACC for any guard) Hes a 40 inch vertical 4.4 40 yard dash athlete. I think he might be the best combination of athletic ability + 3 point accuracy on volume to potentially come into the nBA in a long time. He has Tony Parker speed with the ball but plays at the rim and can hit multi 3's every game. Hes also a good passer and great rebounder while being a solid defender. This guy has everything to be really special --these numbers are outrageous.

I'd agree, I think briggs focuses a bit too much on trying to find a hidden gem or a sleeper that it skewers his scouting a little bit. Also seems to have completely disregarded defense as being important. I do still like his scouting though and it's better than anything I could do
