Kupchek out. Little Jimmy Buss, Out.
IN, Magic as president.
Agent Rob Pelinka (Kobes agent) in as GM.
Kobe invited anytime.
1. Forget Phil going back.
2. Isiah might want to laugh.
3. Magic knows basketball. Knows Starbucks. Knows Movie theaters.
Can he be an exec? Team halfway thru a rebuild. He'll sell it.
I wonder what Phil thinks?
I think Phil is too busy to be concerned with what the Lakers are doing
After Phil and Jeannie broke up in December, him going back to the Lakers was not going to happen. Unless Dolan fires him - he's not going anywhere. Not sure he is going to be able to trade Melo at the deadline for a multitude of reasons, but if he can still declare a huge victory if he can find a taker for Rose/Noah by the deadline.
Pretty sure it pissed Phil off. Magic has a similar lack of experience for the job but he is very passionate. I heard that he is planning on attending every Laker practice. Plaschke was on SAS's show today and seemed to be pretty leery of the hire.

Lakers are in a good situation for Magic to take over and Phil is also in a good situation here in NY. Dolan won't interfere and Phil has picks. Phil is close to getting rid of Melo IMO. Phil can deal Rose and I actually believe Melo's people have convinced him to leave NY. It's the only logical thing to do at this point.

We know Phil's in a good situation, question is, are the Knicks in a good situation??
Magic is there to sell the Lakers as a destination the way father Buss did...

Good question. I am not usually home in the afternoon. Some show on espn had a clipper fan saying he didn't think the Clips could afford to give up Austin Rivers etc. so he would say no to a Melo trade.

Its funny how you think trading melo will solve all of our problems, and his. You disregard melos family as if there just luggage, you make it seem like there are dozens of options for melo, and you have put all your faith in Phil, not just Phil, but anyone who is at the helm, as if they have had proven success..I don't care if its my mother, if she's failing at here position she's gone, or reassigned.
You have been the most optimistic fan on the face of the earth. You will give coaches and GM countless chances..I'm still trying to figure out how out that in November. You said playoffs or bust for Phil, and now you switched up..we both were like 50 wins is not unrealistic, 45 at best..
How many times will you bring your car to a mechanic and he keeps saying the problem is fix. Only to see he rides good for a wk before it brakes down again
I'm actually in the same mode as Jeanie Buss..I think we have to bring back NYers drafted here and who has a vested interest in the City..Bring in guys like Mark Jackson and layer them in the organization..We need people that can sell the organization...Dolan and his ilk are becoming out of touch..We haven't had a good start of the year public relations wise and unfortunately that legacy will be lasting..Time for us to change course...Enough is enough...

Lakers fans must be terrified right now.
It's weird, magic is a very smart business man, and a smart ball player, yet his ideas when it comes to GM-ing are idiotic

Phil Jackson fits your requirements.

I never said trading Melo Solves all our problems. It does make the most sense at this point. There's really no reason for Melo to stay at this point. If he does stay he will be with a team on a different timeline than his.
As for Phil I like his younger players and I feel good about he and his team's ability to select additional young talent. Of everything he's tried to do the young players are his best work.
As for this season I think there was a chance for this team to do more but it didn't happen. Whatever you want to point to this roster fell off and never improved from a decent start. So IMO it's time to move on. This was a test to begin with. Rose n BJ where given a chance to show if we should keep them and it didn't work as hoped.
IMO the answer isn't to yet again change the GM and Coach. They need to build on what they have with KP and Willy!!! Trading the older vets can help the process.

You want build through the draft like the lakers, 4 straight lotteries..
Randle, Ingram, Russell Clarkson, all great picks that got the GM fired, then they tried and throw a couple of vets on the roster, lou, hibbert, mosgov..yeah right.
When are we going to stop trying to get players to fit the system, and build a system that caters to players.
It's like acquiring John Stockton, and telling him to play like rose in this system, then forbid him from running pick N roll, only aspects of the triangle buddy..All of a sudden, stocktons numbers drops,he sucks and everyone wants him gone..Thats what it's been like around here

NO! The Lakers have literally nothing to do with the Knicks. A bunch of draft picks doesn't guarantee a GM will build a team from those picks that can win.
Your other beef with Phil wanting to run Triangle is overstated IMO. The Knicks have blended Spread PnR with some Triangle and the younger players actually don't seem to have a problem running this. They share the ball more and generally look more confident than Rose looks trying to run it.
Rose n Melo simply haven't worked here. They need to move on to a better situation that fits their games. The Knicks need to bring in players that fit the Team Ball they want to play. They will have that chance this summer and I don't see why you would be down on that.
The Lakers reportedly are sending Lou Williams to the Rockets for Corey Brewer and a first round pick. Magic is off to a nice start.
