Knicks · BRIGGS was right about... (page 1)

SETH CURRY!

i remember that he was one of the few here saying the knicks should sign this kid. i was skeptical because he was scoring for a bad team (the kings) during a weak time period (spring of last yr - when teams tank and rest players).

i'm always a fan of shooters and this kid (he's a lil old at 26 though) has some wiggle in his game. reminds me ALOT of CJ McCollom

BRIGGS was 100% right on this one. instead phil signed noah for 18 mill and jennings. i think the key for being a winning franchise and turning the knicks around are finding these diamonds in the rough. that way you dont overspend and you get a lot more productivity

Knixkik @ 2/28/2017 10:22 AM
A lot of us wanted Curry. He is a lights out shooter, and can play. He fits the modern NBA game perfectly.
newyorker4ever @ 2/28/2017 11:45 AM
A lot of us wanted Curry, we just didn't make a bunch of threads about him. I know i wanted him and remember plenty of others also wanting him.
crzymdups @ 2/28/2017 11:52 AM
Haha, I literally came to start the same thread. Good call, Briggs. It'd be great if we could find an undervalued guard like him.

fishmike @ 2/28/2017 12:00 PM
He's OK. Another Ramon Sessions. He's about half as good as Lee at 1/4 of the price.

What? Ramon Sessions is a good passer / poor shooter. Seth is a different type of player, a much better shooter for today's NBA at a good price (6 million- two year deal). I wonder how some around here say that Phil had little options in free agency, he had options, he just didn’t do a good job finding real cheap NBA talent like Seth. He rather over pay for scrubs.

Yea.. different type, same impact. Low. You think Seth Curry is a better player than Courtney Lee? You think Seth Curry is getting Melo back to the playoffs? You think Seth Curry is the straw that mixes this drink into a sweeter flavor?

Seth Curry is a warm body. Please. Same posted gave us 3 Allan Crabbe threads a day for a month. Volume posting.

Don't forget that he is younger and could be getting better while the opposite could be true for Lee.

Sure... many thought the same about Sessions who had similar #s at Curry's age, and like Curry was putting up good #s on a bad team. Many here wanted him. Then we learned he's just not a very good NBA player. Hey, maybe Curry is a late bloomer and becomes a good player on a winning team. We will hear about it for a decade if that happens.

Phil HAS signed guys like this. Kuz and KOQ come to mind.

No I don’t, however, I rather take a 26 years old good shooter making 3 million per year over a 31 years old average defender making 12 million per year. NBA is all about CAP MANAGEMENT, when teams waste their cap in average players they are DOOM.

HofstraBBall @ 2/28/2017 5:04 PM
I will testify. One if his good calls. We definately needed another good 3pt. shooter.

Kuz and KOQ are not even in the same class. KoQ has played like a good rotation player his entire career and he was got at a younger age. He also never should have played behind Seraphin.

I would put Kuz in Curry's late bloomers category though.

To me it boils down to Lee, Curry, Sessions all being average to below average players. You should not give big money to average players because you can usually find cheaper players that give you similar production if you look around.

BRIGGS @ 2/28/2017 5:51 PM
I just tried to apply common sense
What did we need? Floor spreading playmaking athletic defense
Go back and look at my picks
Draft Malcolm Brogdon Derrick Jones Jr Bryn Forbes
Free agent Allan Crabbe Seth Curry Christian Wood

We never even had a chance on Crabbe but the others were all reasonably attainable
And if we executed this plan we'd have 60 mm in cap space tugs year and probably a much better team that was also much younger

This shit with Noah Jennings Kuz Rose Lee was an expensive disaster that made absolutely no sense. Even the young guys didn't make the most sense but it is what it is. I think phil should discontinue blaming people and work through more common sense principles At the end of the day it was a disaster and only losing helps is right now. If I was gm Rose would be released and melo would be resting his shoulder-- common sense approach

Did Seth Curry ever want to be a Knick?

He's not a spring chicken. He's been bouncing around the nba and developmental league for years. He's had plenty of chances to become a knick the Knicks needed a point guard and had space and opportunities for him. He always opted to sign with other teams that had no room for him. Even in Dallas. If guys weren't hurt, he would probably be back in the d league.

Bottom line, I don't think he ever wanted to be a knick. So it's not on the Knicks for not signing him. Is on Seth for wanting to play other places.

Was he ever offered a contract by the Knicks? I know guys that followed the d league brought him up a lot as a potential signing. The Knicks never went there. Are you suggesting that the Knicks offered him a deal and he chose to stay in the dl? This is new information to me. I know there were a few guys, myself, finest and others suggesting Curry was minimally worth a 10-day deal when the Knicks were really weak at the point. I don't ever remember a contract being turned down.

Maybe because Seth was already signing with other clubs. There are 30 nba teams but yeah let's just keep badgering the Knicks for every little thing. Like I said maybe Seth didn't want to be here. That's why you didn't here of any contact offers.

He wasn't signing with other clubs. He was top 1 or 2 in the d league prospect ranks for two years and the Knicks sucked. He barely sniffed the nba. He was never offered a deal from the knicks. He was part of the d league splash brothers when the knicks were winning 17. No spin here. I wanted him on the Knicks. They never went there. To imply that a d league guy wouldn't accept a contract because it was from the Knicks is way off base.

Just because you want the guy doesn't mean you are going to get him. He could want no parts of ny. Did you know that nba players are not slaves? They can go where they want. Do league or not. It's a two way street. How come he never played for Philly? Or the Lakers? But no let's just talk about how he didn't want to come to the Knicks because the Knicks are just stupid. Maybe Seth knew you wanted to molest him so he chose to stay away from you and your sex offending ways.

Your words. I never said he didn't want to sign with the Knicks. He was never offered a deal. He signed a bunch of ten day deals before sticking. I would love a list of the deals that he didn't sign to stay in the d league and make 25 grand because he was holding out and hoping to go someplace else.
