Knicks · Phudge the Tank! It's Playoffs or bust- Knicks @ Philly (page 8)

They have stunk for so long that they have a LOT of talent. Crazy that they're still in the Lottery and have a ton of picks. They'll be thanking Hinkie at some point.I still can't believe the Knicks and how they manage to make a game that should be easy so difficult. It never fails.
Melo has the fifth worst field goal percentage in the LEAGUE in the fourth quarter of games.
Yes that's a fact. Sixers commentaors brought it up. They were talking about it early in the fourth. Then I saw the statistic.
Scary. We pay a guy 25 million a year to be the franchise player, he plays like he's Kobe Bryant or MJ and he has the talent, but when it comes to prime time he is one of the worst shooters in the league. What the hell is wrong with us.
We have to find a cure for this. I can not stomach another season of Melo ball like this. Phil needs to get someone in who has enough of an alpha personality to push Melo to the second option role, or find a way to get Melo to waive his NTC. There is no transforming Melo. He is who he is. Tonight was a perfect example. The team was playing well. Rose. KP. Thomas. All were on. Yet down the stretch Melo still takes the shots, and shoots over 2 defenders. It's just stupid basketball.
I hope this is the last hurrah for Melo as the man as a Knick. If he returns next year, I hope he is playing a secondary role to a new alpha/leader of the team.
On the flip, I'm quite impressed with Rose's adapting to the Triangle and picking his spots. Even his defensive effort has improved. It could all be a ploy to get a massive pay day, which I obviously pass on. But I like what Rose is bringing to the table the last 2-3 weeks. We won't easily be able to replace the drive and kick game he has, or the easy way he can score on the break.

Injuries, again. Embiid hurt once more, and Simmons can't even get on the court this year.

Keeping Simmons out if he is not fully healed is one thing, but losing their top pick in the draft for the entire season for a third time in recent memory is ridiculous. Add the Embiid injury, and now they may benefit by getting a top pick in the draft...probably getting their PG of the future.
Unreal.
Statistically in the 3 games he has played as a starting 5/C he has averaged 19 points a game. It hasn't affected his scoring much. Value wise it's hard to pin point his true best impact position.
I really liked Lance Thomas effort. Such a winning basketball player. Courtney Lee is also real solid. Holiday had a horrible game.
I wish we could see what this team could have done with a Melo trade. Just to see Rose's full value, and what the team would play like without feeling the need to cater to Melo's style of play.
I am not pro tanking, but we have not won 2 straight games in over 2 months. This is a good sign for those interesting in a high draft pick. We keep screwing up games in the late end situations, led by Melo's 5th worst FG shooting in the 4th and the team's inconsistent defense, we likely will be able to not top 30 wins.

I like this SL and I think it has looked good. Melo didn't come thru in this game and got caught up with an EGO thing. They should've ran some Pin Down Screens for Melo rather than keep forcing ISO.
Rose needs to protect the ball better on his drives. The Sixers ripped the ball from Rose ALL NIGHT. We can't have our PG getting stripped repeatedly cuz he's too careless with the ball. All season Rose has kind of had this TO problem.
I wanted them to win and at the same time I wasn't mad that they lost. I'm ALL MESSED UP. LOL. I can't remember ever being in that kind of mental state.

Think Melo realizes at this stage of his career that it's time for him to move on to another team.
Best for everyone involved.

That's why I mentioned that Horny should've called for some pressure relieving Pin Downs for Melo. They needed to get him some clean looks. I think the Knicks do get some good looks off of player movement and screens but a lot of the misses tonight were on Rose and Melo one on one plays. Rose in particular was doing well on some of his drives but then too often got stripped just being a bit careless and not protecting the ball. I used to like the old Football Drives Starks used to do where he covered the ball completely on his drives.

He isn't smart enough to get it. He has been asked by Phil at the deadline to see if he would agree to a trade, he is still talking about staying. In his mind he is a legend.

In the end it's always about your best players!!! Can't get past the 82 games when looking for blame. The best players help lead their teams to wins. They lead by example if not in word. It's not about systems when you fail to beat sub .400 win teams. This ain't about Phil.

Why bring up Okafor as if you know Phil would've drafted him? You only have conjecture. I know for a FACT that Phil doesn't trust his own ability to judge raw prospects. He's said as much. So yes he's gonna trust Gaines to make the big draft assessments. Gaines said KP was the pick and I believe Phil would've trusted him on that.
Anyway the best part of Phil's tenure is the Drafting and young talent. Let's all hope that they're successful this summer and set the team up for future success. All the other stuff is just noise. Whatever the reason Phil kept his picks and added to them.
The offense we run isn't heavily Triangle and really that isn't the reason Rose turned the ball over. Melo forcing shots isn't the systems fault either. In the end the players have to execute no matter what the offense.

Swing low, sweet tank- this was a good night for us- sixers win vs us (double win/loss), magic won, Bucks won (they are getting dangerously close behind us), Mavs won. Only fly on the ointment is that the pelicans lost to the spurs in over time.
We are now in a 5 way tie for the 7th spot. if the season finished like this, coin tosses could have us falling anywhere between 7th and 11th- yikes, we have more losing to do!

This is where Melo still being here really hinders KP- Melo seems to get to take all the late shots in close games and KP gets hardly any- would have been much better for his development this season if we'd given him the ball for the last shot in the zillions of close games.
We play well for most of the game
Melo or Rose play poor down the stretch
We find a way to lose a close game

Sadly this is so true! We get a lot of flack for putting the blame on Melo and Rose but THAT'S EXACTLY WHO IS RESPONSIBLE!!!
