I honestly don't think he knows what he's doing with this team. Which is a large reason they are 25-38. Is that so hard to believe? This is his second head coaching gig. I'm not one to complain about the coach. I liked Woodson and I liked Fisher. I don't like what this team is running relative to its personnel. I don't think Hornacek has done a good job or made good adjustments this year. That's 100% honest from me. Why would I possibly lie about that.

Coaches in the NBA that know the game have a high regard for Hornacek. This is not an easy situation to try and coach in. You know Phil wanted him to run the Triangle and find a way to blend his concepts with the Triangle. Then you have the issues with trying to run the offense with Rose as the starter and BJ off the bench. It's not as simple as suggesting that Hornacek somehow doesn't know what he's doing and is "a large reason" for the losing record.
Most coaches will win if they have the talent. MOST of winning is about the talent and not the coach. If Melo and Rose defended at an embarrassingly poor level this year, that's going to be an issue for any coach. IF they also didn't really buy into the team concept that again is going to be a huge issue for any coach. Sure Jeff has struggled but I wouldn't put this on him.

Hornacek's had to deal with Rose's issues (trial and AWOL), having an absolutely awful output from a guy who was supposed to be a key player (Noah), integrating a couple of very raw talents in Willy and Kuz meanwhile Rambis and triangle issues are continually running in the background. He did have us at 14-10 at one point and we've had an unfathomable number of five point or less losses. IMO the close losses are a combination of coaching AND players not knowing how to finish.
All that said, I think JH's job performance has been ok, not great. He's also learning to deal with the circus that comes with playing in NY which is a completely different animal to someone who's not familiar with it. I believe he's done well enough for his job to not be in jeopardy in the near term.
Horny is a good coach on offense. He's even made the Triangle look good enough to watch. Under Fish I hated our Triangle sets most of the time.
Defense is the area I worry about. He doesn't get on players enough and some vets need that so do all young players.
The point crazymd is making that I agree with is Horny has been a bit too much of a pleaser.
Baker clearly should have been our backup from day 1 but we never saw him get consistent PT
Rose and Melo took nights off on D and never got yanked for it
Melo and Rose player isolation basketball and again he didn't call them out on it.
The biggest thing was Noah. Come on why did he keep staring Noah???
He's basically a very very smart set creator - he can set up great time our plays and even make the Triangle look good. But he doesn't mesh with Melo or veteran stars.

I wouldn't fire him. We need some continuity. Though I don't think we'll have make the playoffs with Hornacek as the coach (I mean ever, not just this season).
KP is an atrocious defender; I wonder if he picked up these bad habits from watching Melo and Rose.
