Just thinking
These 3 guys are in the exact same situations with their respective teams. All 3 are currently on franchises with very little direction, long drawn out plans that don't have them truly contending for who know's when. Even though they are young, they don't seem to be leaders in any remote fashion.
When I think of Ewing, Hakeem, shag, malone, Dave Robinson, duncun, these guys miss the playoffs maybe once in their entire careers, and they played for 12+ plus yrs. Those guys took their teams to the playoffs a yr or less after entering the league, had 1 or 2 ployoffless seasons overall.
I don't know, just seems like these guys put up numbers in losses, then head back to the draft, to get another young 19 yr old, to develop him and head back to the draft.
The playoffs brings boys to men real fast, that's how you develop players, you can't even argue this because (hopefully) most of you on this board have watched those guys from the prime to the end of their careers. They may not have all won rings, but that came in having a legit shot every yr.
Is it just because it's a small ball league? I don't know what it is, but i don't see these guys staying put for the long hual, especially in today's era. Teams are making money, hella cap space, and the players are buddy buddy. Can't be a franchise player if you are not taking your team to the playoffs in yr 1 or 2, how good are you if your team is back at the top of the draft, your just a small piece to the puzzle.
Think melo was in the playoffs up til phil, im not sure though..
