We certainly plYed better without him tonight
He needs to simplify his game, but the IQ stuff is a bit pathetic...
Also want to note that he has the most assists of any starter tonight...He is a good passer when there are good passes to make.
Jokic is a true center physically-a bit like Sabonis(though he is a very limited center on D)...and you might want to look at the team he has around him...constantly cutting without the ball. Lee is the only starter on the Knicks who cuts without the ball. KP's lack of a post game is also an issue, since you really don't have to double team him.
I really would not worry about him. He needs to get stronger, work on his post moves, and be in a good system.
The Chicken Little attitude is a bit sad, but expected from some folks.
I was watching the game on the laptop tonight and not the TV and when watching I thought to myself "I bet anything Briggs will make a thread bashing KP after this one and someehere Hof and hol will be on full attack mode as well".
First of all, it was a bad, bad performance. He got fouled and got a few shots that were not called his way. A tip in and a continuation play both that were not counted and should have been. The other thing Myles did a great great job on him. KP had gotten by him but Myles just got back and altered/swatted his shots. Really good defense. Third, KP took open shots and missed most of them. He needed to see that he was off and move the ball more. However, I like he got angry, got a few blocks in the 3rd quarter and was engaged despite playing poorly on offense. A year ago KP's head would have dropped. He has a real steady head. Most stars in the league are like that. They can shoot, miss, shoot, miss. But they keep shooting.
I don't want to see KP play that poorly anytime soon. He needs to recognize when he is off and move the ball, even if he is open.
Still, congrats those who love to knock KP. You had your one game. Now lets move forward and see what you all say when he has a great game. Where was OP after the Golden State game, the Nets game, the other big games he's been having all March? Oh silent then, and as soon as the guy has a bad game ....
I saw this as a great opportunity for Willy. Without KP, and KP playing poorly, the team went to Willy instead and he delivered. The Knicks fanbase should thank heavens Phil was able to draft KP and Willy in 2015. They have something really good there. Patience is clearly not a virtue of many, but be patient. These guys will be very good for this team in the longrun.

He settles for too many long 3's instead of taking more jumpers in the spot Myles Turner does. That's a huge differnce. KP's midrange game is fantastic yet he sticks outside the 3 point line sooo much. I would like for him to stop the love fest with 3 pointers and long range shots, but it is the way the league is heading and it will pay off if he works on his long range game. He needs more arc though. His 3 ball is too flat. You can't be a great 3 point shooter with such a flat arc. That's why he hovers at 37%.
The other thing with KP is creating in 1 on 1 situations is still not his strong suit. Tonight he went 1 on 1 quite a bit. That's not his game yet. And if he's going to create 1 on 1, he needs to start the isolation closer to mid-range where he is strong from. What he does he go iso from the 3 point line and drive from there. He's too big for that.
I'm confident once he works on his post game, and he becomes more comfortable isolating from midrange his impact will be better.
And ironically I thought the Knicks played well when Willy comes off the bench and worse when Willy starts. He's like a go to scorer off the bench and an elite 6th man type. What Jennings was supposed to give us. Willy actually does with 6th man like scoring.
Let these young players just develop and carve out their roles. KP is defintely a staring level player with all-star potential. For now it looks like he's more effective at 5 than 4. Willy has starting level potential, but for now looks like he's extremely effective as a 6th man.
Also in this particular game, the 2nd unit of Willy/KP and Lee/Holiday/Baker looked solid. Better than last game against the Nets when Willy/KP looked bad together.

Completely agree. I love willy off the bench with that unit. And he can still play starters minutes. 28-30 mpg. He's a great 6th man with KP starting at the 5. Willy can be an absolute terror as the go-to player off the bench.
Bad game but rest of March great. I think it's as simple as that right?

Yeah he really needs to stop settling. His mid range game can be unstoppable. Plus his driving ability in that area. I would like to see them run him off more screens to free up in the 10-15 foot range. So many options on how to run an offense thru him. Pick and pop out to the 3pt line and iso in the post really isn't the best way to use him..

Yes it really is. But some here like to judge each game like it's the rule. "You are only as good as your last game" was invented on ultimateknicks.com I think.
JUST MORE BULLSHYTE!!! It makes it difficult to even come to this forum at this point.
KP like all of our young players are trying to figure things out and unfortunately there isn't much of a LEADER to show them how to play the right way. KP is talking about being excited to work with Dirk this summer. That lets you know he's looking for BETTER guidance than he can get with his NY teammates. I think we all applaud his desire to try and improve.
Complaining with vitriol that our young players aren't PERFECT and still need to improve seems very shortsighted. Don't act like you've never seen them play well and show a lot of promise, despite the negative impact of vets that play selfish most of the time. I don't even understand the mentality of where this comes from.
briggs is playing hog thread, posting a new thread like enyspree looks for public nyc toilets to shit in. both scenarios end up in the same place.
