It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand the game has dramatically changed. If you don't have a serious 3 point arsenal in your attack you aren't paying attention

You don't care for Spurs offense either, right?

They are bottom 10 in 3pt shots per 100 possessions in league

They really are the innovators of the 3. I like their balance. You don't have to take 30 3s but they know how to spread floor.
Rose plays selfishly
Melo shoots poorly
We score 110 points
Yet the triangle is the problem
Ok I know op has to make a thread after every game but still lol!!!'
Forget that Lance Thomas CLee Holiday and KOQ look great in the Tri ... and KP when he was playing well this month all in the Tri. Willy struggled against Brook tonight but also before this one was loooking great in the Tri
Only problem on offence we have is DRose is a selfish SG and Melo is not capable to carry the number 1 role anymore on a game to game basis
The main problem is defense
We score 110 at home give up 121 to the worst team in the league
Most average defensive teams score 110 at how they win.
We are just awful on D
That is on coaching but also players. We need fresh young active legs.

Rose what? This team got ripped by a better team they went through us around us and over us. Better balance for the nets
The Knicks were 15th in the league in offensive effiency heading into the all-star break. Since then when they renewed focus on the triangle they've fallen to 18th.
I think what people ignore is the way offense and defense are connected. My theory is that the Knicks triangle offense struggles lead to greater defensive struggles.
Also, check out KP's field goal percentage since the all-star break and Triangle re-focus - it's plummeting.

Agree completely.
Nets had like 7 guys who could either shoot it break u off the dribble. We had no chance defending once their energy picked up

That's a different argument. You're saying shooting 3s is a must. The Spurs prove you are wrong.
The Spurs play good team ball and good system ball
The Knicks scored 110 points tonight. can we please stop blaming the triangle. The Knicks gave up 121 points to the worst team in basketball. The problem is defense and better defense would lead to easier offense as well. When we had Woodson we were pretty good defensively which coincides with the only good season the Knicks have had in 15 years. Blame Phil Jackson on hiring his buddy Rambis as the defensive coordinator, but stop pretending the triangle is the root of our problems.

Thank you my good man
You're welcome. Glad to be back from my hiatus.
I have returned to this forum as the voice of reason.

The Spurs were 7th in the league in made threes in 2013, when they made the Finals and lost in 7 games. They were 12th in league the next year when they beat the Heat in a rematch. In 2012 they were 2nd in the league.
They have fallen in terms of makes in recent years, and surprise have disappointed in the playoffs. Even this year, with lower makes, they lead the league in percentage. Pop has always placed a high value on the three.

They're 25th in the league in 3 point attempts, and yet still the best team in the west. This goes back to the original point. You don't have to shoot the 3 as much as the OP is suggesting.
Thus just shows you the many ways they're capable of winning.

Yes, but it is valid to note that you are talking about a team that has typically ranked at the top of the league in three point shooting in terms of volume and percentage over the years, in recent years, under the same coach, with a very similar roster. Perhaps this year is a fluke and they're still good.

I appreciate that Phil want's a system, and less iso ball, less brute force.
I think the challenge is similar to what MDA faced here with Melo- you've got veterans that are either incapable or unwilling to adapt and buy in. That, and their natural lack of defensive skills, and you've got swiss cheese with little defensive effort.
If Phil wants to run the triangle, he should coach, and not force feed a system. And he should go get players that fit - meaning don't trade for Derrick Rose, don't max out Melo and give him an NTC.
The dinosaur is less the system, more the man who doesn't seem to want to adapt, change, grow.
