Knicks · Eating Alec Burk and Joe Johnson's contracts (page 1)

This could maybe be another possibility to acquire first round picks. Utah has a boat load of young talent already. They want to resign Hayward, Hill, and will have Hood coming up the year after. They will probably also look to move Derek Favors probably at the draft for a pick since they would prefer more spacing for Gobert and this would free up more cap space while adding a rookie scale contract targeting a PG or a stretch 4.

Utah dumping all 3 contracts would free up over 30mil to help them keep the players they are looking to keep long term. Utah as 2 late first round picks right now in the 26th -28th range. Its possible they are willing to unload both those late picks to unload those contracts while landing a first for Favors in another deal. With Rose and Jennings coming off the books we have the available cap space and are in the perfect situation to take on these players for those picks.

Like this idea ..if we are going nowhere fast next year...pick up extra picks...only thing I am worried about is Kool Joe contract. What are the numbers and years?

He comes off the books after next year. Burk has 2 years left after this one. Utah only would do it to free up immediate cash to resign their core players.

I think they really like Johnson. I heard a rumor that they might trade Favors to free up space. But if they were inclined to move those guys I think you explore it.

He has been good for them. But they can't keep him at the expense of resigning Hill. Though they could sign both if they are willing to be in the tax.

If we get a mid first out of tbis it will be worth it.

Yep, most of the rumors have been them moving favors. I'd consider it, but I don't really want to take on 5 rookies in one year (we have 2 second rounders, plus our first rounder, plus Utah's 2 firsts would be overkill)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm not seeing how Utah really needs much in the way of help

Current Salary for Utah:

http://hoopshype.com/salaries/utah_jazz/

They are projected to have $32.7M in open space next year:

Check the same link, we only have $23M, thank you Noah.

I see, I checked Spot rac and they had them at 91mil. Didn't see the TO on Diaw. They would have 32.7mil I believe with Hawyard and Hill coming off. Hayward is going to get around 25 mil by himself. Hill will get around 16-18mil.

What do we need more than $23mil for? If you desperately want it we can move Lee or KOQ, but I have no idea why you need so much cap space this offseason?
