What is our bigger need ? replacing Rose or Lee ?
Man, I'd love for us to get this kid from NC State, Dennis Smith Jr. That's my guy for us.

Surprised you'd ask that. To me it seems clear, Rose gotta go. Lee contributes on both ends.
I see Lee as 6th man.
the reason I am asking is we could have the choice between Fox a PG and Mink a SG
we do have bird rights to Rose in case we draft Monk
of course I would rather we move up in the lottery and get lucky and Lonzo
Knicks obviously need PG, SG and SF. The BPA when we select in this draft most likely will be either a PG or SF. The PG and SF are the majority of the players in the top of this draft. Hopefully we can grab one that is a legit impact player. I think we can grab a decent SG later in the draft.
I think Lee and Holiday is a nice combination at the shooting guard.
We need a leader that can direct traffic and tell guys where they need to be and get the bigs open shots and make the game easier for Melo.
SG who can score and has a PG handle and game. Ball, Fultz, Jackson and ntilikina are my choice. I would love to go forward with Randle as PG.
PG who doesn't turn his nose up to defense.
This team needs a pass first PG who can shoot when needed and can defend their opposite.

most do!

Many teams already have one that is the big problem the Knicks have. Rose for all his talent, does not appear to want to get easy baskets for this teammates but instead like to go to the rim so he can get his shot.
On Defense Rose is uninterested and often lets his guy go right by him.
Simply put, the Rose experiment has not worked. He may if the 2-5 were better defenders to make up for his deficiencies but with Melo you have another guy you have to cover.
IMO, the 2nd unit guys defend their guy much better. The lack of scoring hurts them.
we need the best player available
Talent! We need to improve overall talent. We're not a PG away (unless it's Paul, Westbrook, Curry etc.). If Tatum is the player, than we take him. If it's fox, than we take him. Imagine if San Antonio said "let's trade down. We already Robinson, we don't need Duncan." Imagine Portland said "yeah, we have Drexler, but this Jordan kid is really good. Let's draft him. At the very least, we can always flip one of them later." We need to take a multi-year approach at the draft and project prospects what may be better next year. I want to see more of the European point guard, but I'm leaning more toward Tatum at this point. But fox can easily shoot up when pro-teams get a closer look at his shooting mechanics. There's still plenty of time before this sorts but out. Plus, the luck factor. Maybe we get #1.
There is not a single PG or SG on the current roster that would not make me draft a player who plays that same position. Rose (who will be gone) Lee and Holiday do not have a stronghold on their positions. Nor are they talented enough.
If the best player available happens to be a back court player, you take him. You don't avoid drafting a back court player because of the current players we have. This is lunacy. This isn't a splash brothers back court that we have.
Absolutely no question.
I hope best player available is a point guard, but I'm also happy if BPA is a 2 guard or a SF. I just hope BPA isn't a big. If it is, I hope we look to trade down for a guard and get another asset as well - unless that big is something special.
I'm hoping and praying we can significantly upgrade at PG and SF with the 1st 2 picks.

Unfortunately i don't think J.Holiday will re-sign with us next year. He's gonna get as big raise next year and not sure it will be us giving it to him. I hope we do cause i think he's been one of our more solid two way players all year and have been saying all year that he's deserved more playing time but i just don't see it. It would be nice if we could get him and his brother and then we could draft J.Tatum in the draft.
PG is by far the biggest need...someone who already knows how to play the position and has been in the position of feeding several mouths before. are you really expecting chasson to lead an NBA team to glory? We need someone fluid and cerebral like him but with a little bit more oomph.

Phil is apparently a big Holiday fan. Apparently he was never just a throw in, they had scouted him and liked him a long time.
If that's true, I think they keep him.
PG, SF and SG in that order.
PG is obvious.
SF because we need a starting quality two way player to take minutes away from Melo
SG - this merely a nice to have, Lee is quite adequate. A second rounder like Grayson Allen or that other guy I named in the draft thread would do, to play behind Lee.
This is why I prefer all the other to talent over Monk, who really is a SG.
