I'd sit his dad next to Spike Lee and open mike them for every game!!
I think I'd actually still trade Melo (changing my mind). If we could get the Clips' 2021 and 2023 1st rounders, plus Austim Rivers and Crawford, that'd work. We would probably end up a lottery team next year, which is fine since we have our 2018 pick. Then we'd use our cap space to build around Ball, KP, Willy and our 2018 pick. By 2021, when we're solidly competitive in the East, we'd have an extra first rounder to add depth or package in a trade for an all-star.
I'll play along. So we draft this kid. Melo says "oh, snap!" And refuses to entertain any trade ideas. He still has what , 2 years? I doubt he would go to any team outside of GS( they just got KD, Spurs( will prolly want nothing to do with him, or Cavs ( who supposedly don't want to trade Love for him, their picks are lame , we might get JR and Shump back, maybe). So all things taken in consideration, in that scenario we might just be stuck with him anyway.
So the answer is we might have no choice but to do so anyway
I'd keep Melo even if we only got Monk, and signed a big passing and shooting PG.
Unless Melo himself were to ask for a trade.
I am really not as excited about the prospects of getting Austin Rivers for Melo as some other people are. The guy is mediocre even as a 6th man player.

It's not so much about Rivers, it's more about the 2021 first rounder, and perhaps 2023, too. A team in win-now mode makes stupid trades. Let's be on the receiving end of one for once.
Is anyone concerned how Ball suddenly makes this same team better defensively? How does a rookie PG who's middle of the pack defensively in his own conference suddenly going to do that? Just asking.
Here we go again. Shiny new thing syndrome. No wonder most of you fuckin people can't stay married.

Do you think Phil gets two picks? He has trashed Melo in the press, on twitter, and through his ghost writers. The media outlets are saying the Knicks are planning on trading Melo. The guy that is trying to do that gave him a ntc and a trade kicker that is around 9 mil and makes it very difficult to move him anywhere. Nice. What dumb bunny negotiated that deal when the other offer was 4 yrs 89 mil? Sounds like mill paxson.
I am fine trading two more years of Melo for first round picks, but then the player we'd get in return is then of little consequence, as long as he is not useless while strapping our salary cap flexibility.
And 2021 and 2023 are way too long off to tell if there is any value in them
Would still rather take a chance on Russell even if it comes with Deng's massive contract.
