Knicks · Melo is at peace but still doesn't get it (page 10)

"I see the writing on the wall. I see what it is," Anthony said late Wednesday night. "I see what they're trying to do, and it's just me accepting that. That's what puts me at peace. Just knowing and understanding how things work. I'm at peace with that."Nooooo! The Knicks never wanted you to go out there and try to score 30 or 40 a night!
"I don't think me going out there, trying to score 30 and 40 every night and playing that way, is going to help them out at this point."
Ummmmmm i don't understand what he said that was wrong and really don't feel like reading through all these posts so if someone can just answer my post with what he said that was so bad that would be great??

I looked at this and one thing jumped out.
They're all good to great defensive players.
Your friend Carmelo isn't.
Barkley and Webber played defense???..Stop it man...
How many of those guys have a career .417 FG% in the playoffs? Or a 40 point drop from the regular season to the post?
Its on the Knicks FO. They thought Melo was an alpha. He never was and never has been. He had enough big dogs on the 54 win team. He's a HOF scorer. As a lead guy you get what the Knicks got. A couple good season and mostly mediocre play.

It's the usual suspects that will nitpick a player or 2 from a list of 10 and totally change the landscape of the conversation time and time again avoid the fact that Carmelo Anthony isn't a winning player who can pass, defend and lead a team.

Count Bernard King in with the usual suspects.
But if Melo does not get traded, I would also be happy. I do not think he was the reason for the Knicks' disfunction in recent years, and the team would have been even worse without him than with him. I would actually be pretty excited about the Knicks next season if they draft a fantastic stud and sign a pass-first PG (like Teague or Holiday). They would then be a team with potential to go deep in the playoffs and even a (very) remote chance at a chip. Something they definitely would not be without Melo.

Does the moron also think Melo hasn't had the cast around him to at least get his team into the playoffs in a weak ass Eastern Conference year after year? Or does he also think Melo doesn't have the cast around him to compete hard every night, defend well and stop holding the ball to only end up taking a low percentage shot?

Yes. The Knicks are rebuilding and thats ALLLLLLLLLLL PHIL'S FAULT (happy?). Do you want Melo here taking his 20 shots a game during that rebuild? Stopping the ball? Not playing D? Think this is all on him? Its just time to move on. The fact that Melo has played poorly this season makes it even clearer.
Focused on Blame? Thats all you are doing. Blaming Melo and excusing Phil for the shit show he has created. Do you hear NBA talk at all? Knicks are seen as a joke? Triangle is seen as a dinasour. Free agents see NY as an unfavorable place to continue their careers. Or have you dismissed all the negative criticism as just a bunch of bullshit? What does the rest of the world know anyway, right. Your sticking your head in the sand. Typical Knicks organazational shit. Melo has done nothing to make the Knicks a joke. The one year he was given the keys , we won 54. The following year, despite injuries and JR suspension we won more games than any of these sorry ass three years!! If anything, everyone else, besides the hater whinning sore losers on here, know that Melo gets a raw deal and needs to leave this clown show. Everyone.
But Agree Melo needs to go. He has been turned into the worst player of his career. Agre, The Knicks will continue to suck. The draft alone wont work. (See our last 20 years of draft picks) We will eventually get another All Star to come here, and we will force him out of town because we wont have anyone that knows how to build a team around him. Shit, we will get Curry and turn him into a passing guard within 3 years. Lets see how long it takes guys like you to turn on KP when he turns out to be short of LBJ.
But please, keep saying Phil's initial plan was to REBUILD? If you really believe that was his plan each year, your dumber than I thought. You really think his rebuild, or anyone elses for that matter, would have included giving your boy Noah 4 years at 19M? Bringing in a one year 24M rental. Giving an unaggressive/disappearing PG 4 years? Maxing out Melo for 5 years? Think Phil must have you hynotized. Youll wake up soon.

If you're talking about why this season was a failure, they didn't try to install the Triangle til after the all-star break, so not sure where the Triangle fits into this season. They were running Hornacek's system up til the all-star break. Good luck trying to define whatever mess Hornacek was supposedly running. I know, I know, it's all Melo's fault Hornacek was running a confusing half-system.
No I was just making the point that they didn't just mess around trying to find a system that fit the talent in Chicago and LA. Phil and Tex "forced" the Triangle on the Bulls and Lakers. The difference is that the players eventually bought in and no matter what you run the players have to buy in. Especially the best players.
You can stop with the BS about it "all being Melo's fault". It's missing the point everyone but a few are trying to make. I'm done with Melo. Stay or go, I want the team to focus on bringing in players that "GET IT". Melo never has. I thought maybe he was when he was really passing the ball last year but...
So players that "GET IT" like Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Shaquille O'Neal, and Kobe Bryant. Got it. That shouldn't be too hard.
Imagine Erik Spoelstra had a system in Miami he called, let's say "the Spo-kangle" and he took credit for using it to get Lebron James and Dwyane Wade to buy in and finally win it all. Would you think he was full of baloney, like most of the league thinks Phil is? Or would you think the "Spo-kangle" was the one true system and the right way to play for every team?
Go Jets!! Jets Jets Jets.
You are arguing against yourself. Spoelstra could have ran spo-kangle? With Wade, LBJ, Bosh and good role players, he could have ran tic tac toe and won it all. That is the point!! With Jordan, Pippen, anyone could have won it all. Dont give me this bullshit that it was because Phil's magic needed to be bought in to. It was simple, Pistons kicked MJ's ass and then the following years MJ went to a new level and Pistons were no longer as good. Stop with the "Until they bought in to the Triangle" bullshit

I'll never forget the first summer Phil had $30M in cap room and people around here were saying with a straight face - let's get LaMarcus Aldridge, let's get Draymond Green, no I want Danny Green with a side of DeAndre Jordan. And Phil thought he could get those guys, too. He desperately tried to set up an interview with LaMarcus. I was told I was a hater for saying we'd be lucky to get anyone and we were in for a disappointing summer.
Next summer, Phil can't even get a meeting with Kevin Durant even though some true believers around here thought that was a realistic option. There were some guys saying save cap room for 2017 with Steph Curry and Chris Paul as free agents. LOL.
Now after the third straight year of disaster, we're hearing "oh it was Melo's fault all along. we all need to rebuild now."
Yes, we do need to rebuild now, but the change in tone from some guys here is amazing. We have another $30M in cap room this summer. At least finally no one is talking about bringing in a free agent to fix things. No free agent with a sane bone in his body would come here. Not til we have a few years of lotto picks on the roster and we stop pushing the Triangle.
Sadly, knowing Dolan, the guy he brings in after Phil will probably not do a good job. Maybe he can dump enough money into Masai Ujiri's lap? That's really the only hope. Bring in a guy like that who will actually do the work to bring in players AND also get out of the way and let the coach he hires do their job.
Another thing none of the Phil phan club can answer is what would have happened in Chicago if Jerry Krause didn't let Phil implement the Triangle, but forced him to install Jerry's pet system, the Kraus-angle. Would that have worked? Is there another team in the NBA where the team President demands a certain system of basketball and forces it on their coach? Can't say Pop, because he's also the coach. Warriors trusted Kerr to put in his system. Spurs trusted Pop to do his thing. Forcing coaches to do something outside their comfort zone? Coach a system they've never played in or coached before? When on earth in the history of organized basketball has that worked?

That's what I'm saying - the Triangle is cute, but Jordan and Pippen were Jordan and Pippen. Like Lebron and Wade, the system didn't really matter. Isiah's Pistons were winding down, Bird's Celtics were winding down, Magic's Lakers were winding down. The Bulls were poised to be that team for a lot of reasons.

Was it KG's fault the Timberwolves sucked and he didn't win jack until he got traded to Boston and teamed up with two other actual stars in their primes?
Is it Chris Paul's fault the Clippers never made it out of the second round?
Is it Anthony Davis's fault the Pelicans suck?
Was it Barkley's fault the Sixers never won a championship?
Was it Chris Webber's fault the Kings didn't make it past the Lakers?
Just wondering where these other NBA greats who couldn't get over the hump on dysfunctional or even great teams stand in your minds.
It's the usual suspects that will nitpick a player or 2 from a list of 10 and totally change the landscape of the conversation to time and time again avoid the fact that Carmelo Anthony isn't a winning player who can pass, defend and lead a team.
Barkley was ripping down 12 boards a night for his career at 6'6". How many is Melo pulling down?
“I’m just disappointed that he hasn’t had the cast around him that really would take him to the next level and meet that desire of winning a championship,” King said.

Count Bernard King in with the usual suspects.Bernard King says Melo hasn't had the cast around him to compete for a title? Gee, thanks Bernard. Where would I be in life without you?
Does the moron also think Melo hasn't had the cast around him to at least get his team into the playoffs in a weak ass Eastern Conference year after year? Or does he also think Melo doesn't have the cast around him to compete hard every night, defend well and stop holding the ball to only end up taking a low percentage shot?

yeah, but he was doing that until phil came in his life, and it's been zero playoffs since
As the focal piece of the team, if the President of Basketball Operations is "preventing" you from getting into the playoffs with a team that should be in the playoffs, the problem isn't the president.
Think about that for a while.
We should ALL want players that give max effort and buy into a Team Ball Concept. At this point arguing is really not worth the time. Melo is not going to lead this franchise anywhere. We know this!!! It's time to move on and try to build a better core of young talent.

If you want to do the leg work..The compare the players who play with studs versus when they play with saps...Compare the career averages..Like when Bron left Miami and went back to Cleveland when Love got hurt..What was his 56.5% vs. FG% 41.7% when he was the only option...Phil hooked him up the following year tho...There's more to the game than just FG% though. Lebron was a beast on the boards, passing, defense, etc. If Melo's shot isn't falling, he's basically useless.
Breaking news - Melo is not Lebron James.
I have some more for you - neither is KP.
Well, Holfresh is the one who brought Lebron into this. Either way, the statement still stands that if his shot isn't falling he's usually useless. That has nothing to do with comparing him to Lebron.
