So Baker gets starter minutes for the first time this year and majorly struggled with his shot, and everyone is ready to ship him out and say he doesn't belong in the league? Seriously? lol
His shot was off; it happens. It's his 1st time playing against starters and a good team that is trying to make the playoffs. He went up against a veteran point guard, and I thought defended him well. He was known to be a good shooter in college--it was just a bad night. Maybe he was anxious? Who knows. Let him get the experience and then assess. We're so quick to judge players based on a good or bad game. It's ridiculous. If he can't consistently stroke it when open, he obviously doesn't belong in the league. But to make that determination after 1 game?!? Common now!

Clue 31 Baker: Not very good.
Clue #2 Randle: Not very good. Ask every team he has been on why he doesn't get any run.

With zero picks last year what do you expect

every team he's been on? Ha, he was on he Sixers for a few weeks, and they gave him a multi year contract- had to cut him due to the Mavs trade and intended to re-sign him but we swooped in.

Baker should be developing in the D League, not in real NBA games, at least not yet. Where is Jerian Grant? Oh wait.

oh, so Randle did play 37 minutes the night before this game in Westchester. Don't know if that is why the choice of only 21 minutes.
I'd actually like to see Travis Trice get a call up from Westchester for a 10 day contract. He's been looking really good there and knows our system.

Ron Baker makes me upset, Baker makes me think bout the Rose trade of given away Lopez and a young driving thru the lane PG that fit good with a 7.3 KP taking big-men defenders out on the perimeter to open the lane for a driving PG-Grant .. a 2nd unit play Jerian Grant and D.Will worked well together with Quinn screening and D.Will defender leaving D.Will open for a jumper to defend a driving Grant who kicked it out to D.Will (Fisher's 2nd-unit play)... last season KP belong with Grant & Galloway on the 2nd unit, so experience players D.Will or Quinn could be the starter PF in the frontcourt with Lopez, because u cant count on Melo for rebounds or defending the paint.
We didnt need Rose, especially if we were gonna sign Jennings plus keep Grant & Galloway as a 2nd unit backcourt.
Great bounce back game.
Man if we had a PG play like we got from Baker tonight on a nightly basis - man that's something.

People are too critical of Baker IMO. For one thing he's trying to learn how to play PG. He's not a guy that had a ton of experience running a team much less for an NBA team. The more he's playing his confidence is growing and he should start to do more and play a bit faster and loose. His shot should start to fall more.
I like Baker's toughness and keep it simple approach. We need players with his fight and unselfishness!!! Baker and Randle is a nice start on next year IMO. We still need Frontline talent but role players are important too.
^^^As mentioned above...nice bounce back game for Baker. Finally hitting some jumpers...
One thing we all forget is that he was not really a PG in college, and now he's playing that role in the NBA, even if it is a Triangle style PG. He is a tough defender, who I think will get better with time.
He is not the answer for us as a starting PG, but I don't see why he can't be a contributor for the team.
Big thing is that he has to become consistent with his shot...definitely an offseason item to work on.
He is a much better passer than I had expected him to be and has an idea of how to set up a pass.
I think many thought he would be a better shooter than he is a PG...seems like the opposite of this so far.
Just don't think I would count him out like some around here have...I've been annoyed with his shooting, and commented on it at times, but I don't see why he can't be a Delavadova type player down the line.

Well Baker only played for the Knicks... Randle only played for the Knicks and Philly in the same year. So echo do i ask? Myself?

Baker played well in the first half and then gave nothing in the second half... like literally nothing. I thought Randle should have finished off the second half. He was playing good defense Tyler Johnson specifically
Baker is 9-10th man in this league....yes he is playing 30 plus to a team that raised the white flag...if we were in the thick of it where these games were meaningful or if Bakes were on the opposing scouting report he would look like a hack....he is heady I give you that but overmatched on opposing fist team players...2nd squad 50/50

His defensive effort and he was organizing the offense alot. It's not just about assists for a PG. It's about the PG being able to organize the offense, direct where players to go. He did all of that.
I don't think he can keep it up on a nightly basis, but on this night alone, he was a very good two way PG. We should be looking for a PG that can do what Ron did tonight next year. Ron can not be expected to do this on a nightly basis, but there are PG's out there with the same mindset only with better skill. That's who we need to go get.
