+1. That should become a regular pre-game ritual at MSG. Might actually have an impact.

a sell out crowd chanting "sell the team".....thats funny!!!!
Attendance does not suffer.

What would a new owner do? Old owner used to be ok with picks traded, now it don't happen.
New owner could fix arena? its not broken. New owner could change management? We did that 3 years ago.
New owner could be a dick too. A different dick, but still a dick.
George Steinbrenner was a good owner ,then a bad owner, then a good owner again. How? he changed his philosphy and let baseball people make baseball decisions.

You're right if someone make offensive remarks at you I'm 99% sure that most here would go right back at the person making the lewd remarks. It just so happens Dolan is Billionaire and famous. I don't see the story here.

I wonder what the reaction would be around this forum if this altercation had involved Melo or Rose??? Shouldn't the societal standard of "Hey you're a rich athlete who cares what some fan says to you" or "Look you spoiled brat you are paid to play ball for us and we can say anything we want to you cause I paid for my ticket" apply to this scenario? Or is that only reserved for the Slaves and not the Massas???

Dolan has some maturity issues.

He is the owner, but an owner of a business. And businesses should avoid alienating their customers, even difficult ones, because it's bad publicity and bad for ...well... business.

Unless someone is so unruly as to be a threat to public safety, Dolan should not be getting into altercations with or applying sanctions against fans and former players.

Dolan is an arse.
I think the ticket holder was being an arse.
Dolan should have just kept walking.
Im not sure the guy is as innocent as he says. Dolan response as he depicts sounds unreasonable.
Somtimes its how you say it.
but, Dolan should be using the service entrance. Why mess with drunk patrons even if they are drinking.
But, if your going to provoke a player or owner outside the lines, expect a response. Im ok with Dolan yelling back. I think a player also has the right to respond off the court.
If abused on the court, security should handle it.

Dolan is thin skinned, no two ways about it. He outsources thick skin to private security guards. The best owners try to find the best executives, the best people for the job. Can we really say that's ever been the case since Dolan took over? Its mostly about who is the best at massaging his ego. Phil is a big name, but was he considered one of the more talented execs in the league? No, never was an exec.

There might be some hope in that Clarence Gaines looks like he might have the makings of a good GM. Maybe we get lucky and he gets the job after Phil leaves, and Mills gets kicked up to President, where he can continue his world class enabling.

If Phil can leave Knicks mgmt and the team in a better place than he found it, then his legacy as an exec in NY will look a lot different than it does now. Its also up to Dolan to create less of an authoritarian atmosphere at MSG. Its NYC, c'mon Jim.

Funny how at the end of the day, he is just a short, fat, sad man with a huge inferiority complex. Or at least he acts like one.

The guy was only saying what everyone been saying, thinking, and petition before Dolan hired Phil Jackson "Dolan need to sell the Knicks Franchise".
When coach JVG quit 16 seasons ago .. the Knicks has been performing as if Dolan pays them to LOSE games!
From 2003 to 2008 the Knicks had a $100M salary cap that average a 23 win season in 5 years .. any long time Knick fan getting the opportunity to speak to owner Dolan what do u expect for the Knick fan to say?

I hate this trend where fans think they can offload on players etc then run crying to the media when they get abuse back, it's pathetic.

I agree with your premise that players and owners have the right to defend themselves. But saying "sell the team" is not abusive. Getting in someone's face and calling them an A-hole is. If what was reported is true the reaction was waay overkill based on the action.

We don't know what the fan said. We know what the fan claims he said.

Dolan obviously took offense to whatever was actually said and, IMO, my guess is that the fan *was* being abusive. And let's get real about this, NY fans are some of the best in the league but NY assholes define the worst of the worst.

But yes Melo not only should go but must go.
