I'm hoping the team (Phil, Horny) see the problems on D and are not so concerned with offense. Run the Triangle. Run the secondary breaks, pick and rolls and early offense. It doesn't matter. What you need with this team is skilled players who defend, and you need a leader. No leader on this team, and not enough defensive minded starting level players. KP has to make a transformation as well. His defense is there, he has all the tools. He just doesn't play it well enough. He has to focus on defense and playing smarter, using his feet and hands in a way where he can challenge shots but not get into foul trouble.

At this point we've learned all we need to know about guys like Melo or Rose. They aren't the kind of players we need. Whether Melo stays or goes he simply won't be the reason this team has success or not. He's a Passenger and not a Pilot. I have nothing against Melo as a person. He seems nice enough but we need a player that not only has great talent but great leadership too.
Baker has 1/10th of the talent but 100 times more Drive and Determination. Same goes for Holiday. KP says he wants to take on more of a leadership role next season and I'd love to see that. Hopefully we can draft a kid that has natural leadership qualities.

We can debate many things here but first you have to make some sense...Firstly nothing you have said addressed what I said...What does Melo's NTC have to do with how he handles the situation??..I never asked you to feel sorry for him....If you want to get something off your chest then have at it...
Melo and Phil had plenty of sit down to discuss team construction and his role as a player. Melo was given money and a NTC. For that what was his role? Hang stats?
As for the abuse Melo has had to take? Phil called Lebron, who has controlled the franchises he has played for, his group "Posse" which was deemed disrespectful by Lebron. How hard must this weighed on Melo? Really? Phil ball holding comments early in the season which was mostly complementary, was it really that awful? Trade Rumors? Was it discussed with Melo? Lets say that melo on the court has not exactly done what might have been asked of him. Melo has stated in the past that for him to adhere to the team concept would "Sacrifice" to his game! At this stage of his career, is that really a sacrifice when your goal is to win? HE talking about a quest to accumulate points for his personal goals?
Is this a hostile environment when trade rumors are abound but you got a NTC and control it all? Is it Melo whose actions speak louder than words not at all culpable to some extent? And when you have a NTC you can tell your team "I don't have to change my game and worry about being traded"?
Phil "Leopard spots" comment was a bit extreme. Melo has shown inflexibility to change his game. the player who Phil talked about, michael graham does not seem bothered by it as much as the media would have liked to have a great story .“Phil is the master of the mind games. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. But I appreciate the love. He woke up the dead.” Graham did not change on the court but he did turn his life around. He says the tweet was weird and Phil can be weird as well.
Im using Isola because he has it big time for Phil. If you have a anti Phil agenda you'll read it as such. My take was the article was pretty balanced and Isola seems to really want to bash Phil, but Graham does not. He is a man at peace with his life and recognized phil tried to help him. He does find it odd his name came up. Those with an agenda I'm sure are horrified that phil would do such a thing.
