Knicks · Jonathan Isaac is actually pretty darn talented (page 1)

Alot of attention is going to Josh Jackson, Kultz, Ball and Fox... Jonathan Isaac has some serious #1 pick talent.

I don't think he goes top 3, but think he will be in heavy consideration by a lot of teams starting at 4. Along with De'Aaron Fox, he might be my top guy outside the big three of Fultz, Jackson, and Ball.

but we need a PG...which he clearly isn't. if phil has jrue holiday locked in his sights, then this pick makes sense.

We need defense, leadership and then playmaking in that order.
Baker is running the offense well.
Noah/O'Quinn/Willy are good at moving the ball from the 5 spot in the Triangle.
Where we really need something is leadership and defense.

Isaac is great talent. Long arms. Shooting skill. Can play multiple positions. He can play some 3 with Willy/KP or could play 4 with KP or Willy at 5.

I think for the Knicks after the top 4 of Fultz, Jackson, Ball, Fox. The rankings will be (not in order but I'm confident these 3 are next)

I don't think we're drafting a PG unless it's Ntlinkina. I don't see us taking Smith or Monk as guards. If Fox is gone by 4 or 5, I see us taking Isaac/Tatum or Ntlinkina at 6/7.

If the mock drafts hold true, then Johnathan Isaac could be sitting right there for us at 6... that's also assuming we have the 6th pick.

I know we want a point guard but this guy to me looks like he is a future 20pt a Game scorer. Physically he's overpowering with his size and strength. He can shoot it all over and he's still quick and elusive. He's got the full package.

Isaac gives me a serious Kawhi vibe, and I love it.

I'd be happy with any of Fultz, Ball, Fox, Jackson, or Isaac. I'll be pretty disappointed if we miss out on those 5. I could live with Monk or Frank.

Our BIGGEST issue was defense and I think this kid has so much he can bring to the defense. Along with Baker and KP that would close a lot of holes in the D and make it very tough on teams. Then when you add in his offensive ability it just makes it even better. If I had to guess I think Phil would be very intrigued with a SF/PF that was once a PG and has all kinds of versatility. I would be very happy if we end up with this kid.

So hard to eval these guys. I dont like most of Isaac's NBA comparisons. However none of that matters. What these guys show in workouts trumps so much. Bottom line is there are a handful of really talented guys, and we will get a shot to take a top 3 caliber pick in most drafts, even if we are 6-7.

Just do the due D and pick a winner. I dont really care where. Hopefully a wing. Isaac looks like a tall 3 to me.

Has extremely quick feet as a help defender and has those long arm.

He does a little bit of everything, and as some have pointed out, he had a late growth spurt, so there is a good bit of "guard" in his game.

He might be the most intriguing player in the draft in terms of what he brings to the game.

Fox, Frank, Isaac...still the guys on the top of my list unless Jackson falls for some reason and we have a chance for him.

Now we need to be in a position to get someone we want...really need to lose to Philly.

If we could trade Melo all probable scenarios have us taking back guards. I like what i see in Ron Baker. I Still like Chasson too...

Kristaps, Isaac, Willy... the mix there to me sounds like a bad day for the opposing defense.... If guys are running the offense and sharing the ball, buying in.... it's not a bad look.

Btw... what do you think about Keith Van Horn as a comparison?

he plays more like a 3 and KVH was a 4. He actually looks more like Tim Thomas. That isnt meant to sound insulting

He has good handles for his size. I like could be an impact player for sure.

I really like this kid and think some could be underestimating how good he could end up being in the NBA.

PG's can still be gotten in other ways then just our lottery pick and who really knows how Phil and Hornachek are looking at R.Burgandy for next year. They could be thinking this kid could run the point with the right talent at the other 4 spots or at least give him a look for next season and if it's not working maybe make a move around the trade deadline. We also still have the Melo thing to deal with and if he does decide to give us a list of team to accept a trade then who knows what we end up getting for him. We have other options for PG other than our lottery pick and PG isn't our only need anyway.

This kid I think is now 6-11 and might be our Point forward of the future.

Yeah, I can imagine Isaac running pick n rolls or pick n pops with with KP. Isaac is going to take time to develop physically, but I think he's worth the gamble. His movement without the ball already seems advanced.

I was thinking Isaac is more like a Lamar Odom type or a better handles version of Bosh.

He's more of a faceup guy than Bosh and quicker. That might change as he fills out. He was on a better team as a freshman as Bosh, so it's possible he has more in his arsenal than he displayed. He has a better J than Odom, but he's not as a good a passer. He seems more comfortable guarding the perimeter than Odom did at Rhode Island tho.

I think Isaac is probably a better defensive version of these 3 SF/FPs Rashard Lewis, Hedo Turkoglu, and Chandler Parsons(Healthy). All 3 of those guys were 6'10 forwards that had great fluidity so they could play on the wings and defend opposing 3s. Now those players were not super stars but they were quality players who were just below lead guys. I think the difference with Isaac is that he is a two way player with playmaking ability which could lead him into possibly becoming a star player. I think it mostly depends on how good of a ball handler he becomes and if he can convert his long stride into power when finishing.
