Get yourself a real opportunity to Grab a top potential franchise pg, draft low and sell high, it would be a brilliant move.
Everyone Knows this is a point guard league, and the triangle isn't going to be around for much longer, JH's System (if phil ever decides to let him run it) does not involve playing two big men. He could always sign back when he's a FA if he really wants to come back.
No...... Not worth it
You got a Center who can avg a double/double and 5 assist who is best friends with KP
Trade our rookie who showed 1st rd talent when we already have a likely top ten pick in a deep draft? I'm not sure it's worth it. I can understand the concept but it seems unnecessary. You just never know how the draft will play out. We could end up with a star at any spot we pick. If they really wanted to insure a top 3 pick the Knicks could've done that in the regular season with a few more losses.

In the 2014 draft, the Utah Jazz had the 5th overall pick. They desired Dante Exum but believed he was a late mover up the draft board and would need the 3rd or 4th pick for him. The proposal IIRC moving around the table was the 3rd pick ( then considered a Tier 2 pick, as Andrew Wiggins and Jabari Parker formed their own Tier 1 for a long long time until Joel Embiid rose at the end to push into Tier 1 himself) for the 5th overall pick, Derrick Favors and a future 1st round pick.
The cost to move up to No#2 overall would be more. It would be Hernangomez, this years lottery pick ( would need to be a high Tier 2 pick), another player perhaps and a future 1st round pick, maybe something else.
You've proposed a non viable trade given the actual NBA marketplace environment.
Actually you've oddly proposed a deal that would get both front offices fired immediately. While I like Hernangomez, any team trading what could be a Tier 1 NBA draft prospect where he is the only compensation to move down in the lottery, would have teams around the block waiting for the next chance to trade rape that franchise. The Knicks need QUANTITY of NBA level talent on their roster. Trading volume is a value killing type move for any rebuilding franchise.
You'd have to go back to Jose Canseco for Ruben Sierra, Mike Witt and Jeff Russell to find a trade that ended up getting both front offices torched for it.
Well, you actually made Ruben Sierra relevant again for NYers everywhere. I guess there's that...

Wait a minute- you said you can't rebuild via the draft and were opposed to tanking to get a high pick, but you'd prefer to trade some of the few pieces of talent we have to move up? How does that make any sense?!
I love Willy
This would only make sense if they were convinced they were trading for a superstar. Any doubt keep Willy and pick as we need more good players
Not happening...
I think the PG Jackson would want anyway is Ntilikina, and I figure he should be available when we pick. The great thing about him is that he can also be a SG, if need be.
I just don't think the difference between the lottery quality PGs is great enough to give up the player who would benefit the most from a good PG. You also have guys like Jackson, Isaak and Fox, etc. to consider
willy was just named rookie of the month, i know its April but for a 35th pick that's nice
I'm down for Knicks gauging Willy trade value but wouldn't look to use him to move up 2-3 spots in basically a 2 for 1 trade.
If anything I would look for a straight trade for a pick maybe for someone like the Indiana SF Anunoby or a young vet wing -- someone like an Ubre from Wizards (that type player).

Had not heard this-good for him...and us.
We will get a good player at 6 or 7. One of Tatum, Fox, or that french kid who is supposed to be really good will be available, and all of them are solid prospects. No need to trade Willy.
