Knicks · face it, PHIL is done and he has officially matched I. Thomas for most inept leader in franchise history (page 1)

knicks1248 @ 4/16/2017 2:09 AM
weather he finish his contract, trades melo, he is done..

Nothing good is happening,

franchise player is skipping exit meetings, and has publicly disassociated his self from any off season with the knicks
the labron comments
openly trading one of the most likable players in the NBA, despite his flaws
Players constantly complaining about the triangle
Going on tv saying no one is untouchable on the roster
undermining his coach

Phil is living in a cave, still thinking this is the 90's from every prospective..Dolan and Phil is not a good mix. You put a Gag order through out the season, yet tweet dumb sht that should be behind close doors, and then have a press conference that essentially throws everyone under the bus except himself, and talks about THE BUCK STOPS HERE

Now you got players rebellion flat out..and a few think it's all MELO and ROSE..while rose wants to be back....

In theory Phil is done, NO FA is signing here unless he is begging to get back in the league, he is not trading melo unless he gets a bona fide starter is in the package, and no one on his staff is telling him he is making an ass out of himself..

Even the most optimistic fan has to be concern. i told you guys a long time ago, that he will never find 12 players in todays basketball world, to be receptive to his system, or else it would be fully utilize in the nba, not pieces of it.

His Image is completely shot as president of the NY KNICKS, he still has his 11 rings, but all these kids in the league, grew up on MJ, SHAQ, and KOBE, and they know thats how he got his rings..walking in to ready made teams...not building them from bottom up..

Wow you have no idea what you are talking about.....lmao

This isn't even as bad as Grunwald trading for Bargnani...... so it's definitely not as bad as Isiah who was arguably as bad as Layden. This isn't even in range of what those 3 did.

knicks1248 said previously that you can't rebuild via the draft, opposed tanking then after the season proposed trading Willy to move up the draft, which says it all really.

NBA free agents, with the most choices pick situations where they can get the most years, the most money and the best chance at winning.

Some NBA free agents will take short term and cheap deals to go to a contender

Most of the rest will pick teams that offer the most years and the most overall money.

And that's it.

No player with actual choices is going to pick the NY Knicks. Phil Jackson could say something, he could say nothing, and those guy are not signing here as FAs.

Players with limited choices will still likely not pick the Knicks.

"I'm going to turn down an extra year offered, that no one else is offering, and turn down the most overall money, because Phil Jackson said something super mean to Melo a year ago...."

When you hear players say "How dare Phil say that, that's horrible and unprofessional, we love Melo, we are on Melo's side..." who care what they say.

IT DOESN'T MATTER MUCH WHAT PEOPLE SAY, WATCH WHAT THEY DO

You follow the sound bites and narrative the mass media sports press want you to follow. People are outraged because many are simply told by the media that they should be outraged.

I'd argue the Rose trade is equal Bargs but Phil is not Isaiah level bad because of the lack of lawsuit. Is he a terrible President? Yes

ESOMKnicks @ 4/16/2017 7:52 AM
I think Phil looks better than Layden or Isaiah because of a different frame of reference. Layden and Isaiah came shortly after the glorious Ewing era, and there was a sense that it would take just one trade for another superstar of Ewing's caliber to get the Knicks back into contention, the trade that never came down, despite multiple efforts.

Phil has taken over when the franchise and the fan base have been beaten down by decades spent between sucking and mediocrity, so expectations have been lower. Had Phil, for example, come over to the Knicks back in 1999, after the infamous Checketts meeting, and then proceeded to trade Ewing and get us a couple of 30 win seasons and put the team in a shape similar to what it is in now, he'd forever have the legacy of the worst head coach or general manager in the history of the franchise and the league.

In a way, at a certain point, a record of outstanding accomplishments works against the GM, as hubris would inevitably prevent him for re-checking his judgment, admit and correct his mistakes or listen to input from others. Moreover, excessive arrogance makes it more difficult to be an effective negotiator vis-a-vis other GMs or with players.

I hope the Knicks' next GM is going to be more of an unassuming, grey-suit transactional personality, focused on quietly getting results, rather than on building up his own persona and legacy.

Rebuilding through youth.... you can't win championships when you are trying to build up the youth
nixluva @ 4/16/2017 9:25 AM
Before too long we'll be talking Draft, Free Agency and all the SL games. Hopefully we'll be talking about a Melo Trade. In no way is Phil's Regime as bad as the Media is trying to make it. Yes the losses have been bad and the Win Now moves haven't worked but the process of building a new core is underway.

What was IT record as a Prez? Phils? Not too far fetched. And wait, what was wrong with the Bags signing? He didnt hurt the team? Melo should have won with him as his starting center anyway? Right?

However, IT was a higher level of bat crazy.

You can't win many games either, and with more off court drama than a episode of REAL WORLD, you can't even begin to develop any one.
KP has indicated on several occasions that the entire team played for self.

when you put a roster together like this guys start playing for

Rose- contract
KP- respect
willy-stats
Melo-still the man
Holiday-contract
Lance-prove he isn't a bum
KOQ-that he deserves more minutes
KUZ-that he can play in the nba
Baker-see kuz
randle-see cuz
Jennings-that we can win without the triangle

These players hardly ever played with each other, or for each other. This has been the case with every roster phil has assemble

The dude suffered from fatigue since a kid, and it's still a concern

http://abcnews.go.com/Sports/kristaps-po...

No one knew then that Porzingis was suffering from anemia, a blood disorder that leads to extreme fatigue and weakness. It went undiagnosed for about six months, and it was killing the young prospect.

"It's all I would think about," Porzingis said. "'What's wrong with me? Why am I like this?' It was an everyday fight. And I used to get emotional, because I would be giving everything I had [in practice] and I just couldn't do it. I thought, 'Why can't I do the things that everyone else is doing?' I was just thinking I'm soft, you know?"

Yes, the label that dogged Porzingis during his first few weeks in the NBA was a very real concern for him at 15. Eventually, Sevilla doctors diagnosed Porzingis' condition. He began treatment, which included taking iron pills daily, and started to feel like himself again.

"I started to open up," he said.

By now, the NBA world knows Porzingis' story.

don't expect him to be some kind of work horse ever

But even after more than a half-day's worth of sleep, the fatigue lingered.

"I would run three times up and down the court in practice, and I would be dead tired. Not sweating at all. But dead tired, breathing like crazy," he said. "And it was just the worst feeling ever. I was really struggling.

"I couldn't run, I couldn't do anything. And I didn't know what was wrong."

Just stop Phil has done as bad as Thomas, the guy had 1 draft pick and you expect the franchise to be rebuilt

fwk00 @ 4/16/2017 12:25 PM
I was okay with It tried to do with his trades. Where I parted ways with IT was his power struggle with Larry Brown.

It had nothing to work with. He was saddled with a largely worthless roster that over time he attempted to strengthen by making very high risk moves (eg High risk/High reward). The risks unfortunately did not pan out. But his thinking and speculation was spot on.

Because of the disappointing results and the moronic behavior of some of the players, IT was crucified. He didn't deserve it.

Phil, OTOH, has had disappointing won/loss records but has dozens of positive accomplishments that have been listed repeatedly.

And I think most fans underestimate his smarts. for example, by investing in Noah, Phil ensures that Noah's positive influence is virtually guaranteed to be here. Noah's salary restricts the ability of the organization to once again deviate from the rebuild mode (cheaper, hungrier talent) to Starphuck (expensive - think I'll float downstream talent).

It's a plan way too complex for the MSM to understand so they attack him viciously. And Phil is so cool during these pressers. He diplomatically gives the media the finger and they hunger for more like Pavlov's dogs.
