The forum is flooded with Phil/Melo garbage... what about moving forward?
Tomorrow we take a small step towards the lottery by knowing where we sit as far as ping pong balls... May 16th is the lottery... We're one month away from that. We're 2 months away from the actual draft on June 22nd.
The Knicks have to trade Melo at this point. It doesn't matter who or what we get back. We can't take back any bad contacts. A pick would be nice. Moveable players would be nice. A rotation player possible starter would be nice.
From there the focus should be on developing youth. This is where our focus should be, not where the media is forcing on us. This draft pick is so important. The 2018 pick is equally important. We need more KP and Willy talent mixed in with the vets we either still have from the current roster, the Melo trade and free agency going forward... it's exciting shit
2018 is a much tighter window for great draft talent based on early indicators. Miles Bridges was going 10-13 but is pick #6 based on early indicators, Grayson Allen was around pick 40 in the 2017 draft but is going at pick #26......
I actually think Mike's Bridges is talented but it's arguably a weaker draft through out. 2017's draft has guys who would go top 3 in 2016 going at around 10 this year.
2018's top 4 though is extremely talented Bamba, Ayton, Doncic, and Porter all look like legit franchise talents. I think Doncic would be the best one for our current squad, but any of those other three players could go ahead of him and I wouldn't be surprised.
Basically we should put our youth out there and if they happen to lose a lot of games while developing
I agree ☝️ that 2018-2019 are critical and while Phil has made some errors, listening to Stephen A tear into Phil is absurd. This underscores the need to purge Melo asap. I frankly would take a 2019 pick and anrotation player.
I hope against hope that we pick Tatum or Jackson. My preference is and has been Fox though I feel he will ow go top 5 and we will miss out. We need some luck here and probably trading Lee makes sense and not overpaying Holiday.
When i watched Boston and the Bulls play yesterday, until Butler took charge both teams struggled offensively. Melo playin 25 minutes for either team would make sense. Take back bobby Portis and a pick or
smart and a pick.
Clippers would work too.
