Knicks · If it came down to it, would you trade KP? (page 1)

EnySpree @ 4/17/2017 11:26 PM
My answer is yes...

We're rebuilding... we do have Willy at center. After this draft and trading Melo, we could have a deep roster. Maybe Kristaps and a filler gets talent that we're missing.

Kristaps supposedly was on the next flight to Latvia and not coming back till training camp, but was riding bikes in central park yesterday with his family. Media ain't shit.... but let's say KP wanted out. The only way I trade him now is for Boston's #1 pick and their late 1st rounder... shiiiiit I want their second rounder too.

Chances are KP will likely get an offer sheet that we well match in a couple years.

mlby1215 @ 4/17/2017 11:29 PM
 NOOO, please don't trade KP
crzymdups @ 4/17/2017 11:45 PM
Hell no.
nixluva @ 4/17/2017 11:53 PM
NAH! I think KP is going to be great here once he gets over his issues dealing with the drama and coming changes. He's still got so much upside and I like the fact that we really can put together a nice roster if we make quality selections this Draft. I think if we put an LEGIT set of Perimeter players with KP this will be a dynamite team down the line.
PhilinLA @ 4/18/2017 12:08 AM
No.
NardDogNation @ 4/18/2017 12:27 AM
Everything comes down to the right price. If I got a deal too good to turn out, then yes
But realistically, only a team like the Sixers or Celtics could provide that type of deal.
CrushAlot @ 4/18/2017 12:30 AM
No. But I would try to correct the dysfunction that he is frustrated with.

Stop buying into the Media Hype! Until KP actually talks all that stuff is rumors and hearsay. KP needs to worry about KP getting better. He's not a superstar yet! He's got a long way to go and acting out isn't the answer.

Kemet @ 4/18/2017 12:50 AM
Depends .. on whats best for KP? or whats best for Knicks fans?
smackeddog @ 4/18/2017 7:18 AM
I'd consider it for Fultz only
matt @ 4/18/2017 8:03 AM
..........this thread has made me stupider.

Trade him for what exactly? What piece would a rebuilding team rather have than him?

franco12 @ 4/18/2017 8:42 AM
My small concern about KP is he sorta regressed this year - was more banged up.

I don't think I trade him unless I feel he won't be able to bulk up/stay healthy for full seasons.

I don't think this- yet - but if I did, I would certainly be open to trading him.

GoNyGoNyGo @ 4/18/2017 9:00 AM
No. He is the talent that is needed. Just needs a real mentor not a guy who doesn't back up his words with on the court action.

With the pick, NY will have 5-7 solid pieces, no Melo and no Rose and a HUGE attitude adjustment! Once the cloud is lifted off the team, they will excel.

Marv @ 4/18/2017 9:15 AM
holy crap.

i haven't posted here about the knicks in a while but this one i gotta respond to.

we're gonna trade kp?!?!?

this guy is a more athletic dirk. his achilles injury and physical immaturity wrecked his season, but all the signs are there.

watch this video again, especially at 0.40, 2.10 and 2.30. people say he doesn't have a go-to, i think it's right there.

let him grow and mature here. he's getting turned on for talking a little smack at phil? who deserves it more than phil?!?

Moonangie @ 4/18/2017 9:33 AM
This is some crazy shyte. Trade your cornerstone? Priceless.
Knixkik @ 4/18/2017 9:56 AM
NO way. You fix the issues at hand and move forward and build around him.
Nalod @ 4/18/2017 9:57 AM
Not sure he regressed skill wise and some stats were up. But he played just 66 games and is not holding up to prime time minutes.
He has to let his body grow naturally or big problems come up.
Not sure I'd trade him for a pick, but a scenario of getting two starters, one that is young and rising allstar. Is that fair? not sure for the other team but his would have to be a team that really wants KP.
Scenario, say Lakers are inline to sign Paul George as a free agent. Just hypothetical, just stay with it. Well that might put Brandon Ingram on the bench, so he is available. but at the same time they see Randle as expendable and they don't want to pay him. Thus, they trade Randle, mid level first rounder and ingram and in return they are adding KP and Paul george. Thats unique to their scenario.
For that matter, Say its D'angelo russell and Ingram for KP, cuz they have a nice guard to start and see that they are upgrading Two positions (KP and Paul George). For that matter, they draft Lonzo Ball.
THey might be upgrading THREE postitions. Do I take a mid first rounder, D'angelo and Ingram? THat could net me three starters and KP while I love the kid, has some risks to him physically.
Consolidating talent is an important ingredient to winning. Boston might have to do this at some point to get more cap friendly contracts when their yoots come off scale.

So to me, it depends on the team and what they want, not "Fair value". Im not shopping KP. Phil put it out there, but a team is going to have to pay. some can afford to.
Im not advocating at all we trade him.

My concept was like when we traded for Rose. It made sense (go back to july and think a healthy Noah) when you added in free agent noah to replace the trade asset. Anyteam that gets a gift of a free agent can afford to spend. So anyone wants KP, they have to blow knicks away. Doubt it does. But Phil should listen.

fishmike @ 4/18/2017 10:05 AM
crazy talk. Keep him. Keep developing him. If he was an RFA THIS year dude would be worth a max extension or damn close. He's still got 2 more years to keep getting better.

KP is the building block every team with a draft pick pines for. We just need to keep adding guys.

Vmart @ 4/18/2017 10:14 AM
What KP doesn't realize is he is being misled, only way this team improves is if he takes control of the team leadership. He needs to set standards that need to be followed he is the source of reference that other will emulate. He should let his basketball accomplishments market him not the other way around.
