Knicks · James Johnson--why his defense is a game changer (page 1)

There were a number of reasons why Miami had the biggest turn around job in NBA history and this is a great film on why. JJ is a 3/4 but can cover 3-4-5 and maybe even some big 2s. Hes got GREAT handle for someone 6-9 250 hes developed a 3 point shot a willing and good ball mover but most importantly--looking at the +- on his defensive contribution it showed why when he was on the court Miami had their best +- ratings. Hes a poor man Lebron James. Id love to have the rich version but the poor version is available.

Players like him are great here and there but rarely put together consistent seasons. This is his 1st year playing over 2000s minutes so I would worry about grabbing him and expecting him to be a huge contributor. If he was 25 or young I'd be more willing to give him a chance.

If we didn't already have Courtney Lee, Noah & Lance Thomas, I might gamble. Looks like he put a great year together.

Depends on how much you have to outbid Miami/other teams.

And then we don't have a whole lot of open roster slots- so depending on what you do with our 3 draft picks, you may not have that much room.

But I agree, this is the kind of player we need to target- if he passes the triangle IQ test
