http://bleacherreport.com/articles/27051...Kp would have to be a center and Willy will have to come of the bench...
Could work I guess.
I did realize the article doesn't say anything about a trade but its still the criteria for a typical Knicks trade... 🤖
he's avg 50 games in the last 3 season

Which team? Knicks or the Clippers? Clippers still have Jordan... Knicks have KP.

Knicks might have to lose Thomas... maybe Melo and Thomas for Griffin and Rivers.
Not saying I'd do it but maybe lol

I want no part of Blake in NY.
Ideally Blake goes somewhere like Boston, Melo and say A. Bradley/pick go to to Clips.
Maybe Knicks get A-Rivers and Celtics Rookie Brown. Some type deal like that.
Or maybe Melo to Clips, Blake to OKC and other pieces back to Clips/Knicks.
Hold on is Blake a FA this year - Unrestricted?
Isn't Blake a free agent?

Yes he is. So I don't see this happening
yellowboy90 wrote:Who is going to rebound?
I don't get the question. Blake a better rebounder than Melo if it's a straight swap.

He has a opt out i believe... it's interesting. Could the Knicks trade for him at the draft and then let him opt out?
Still... Griffin and KP could work with Willy off the bench. Knicks gotta get lucky in the draft and possibly free agency... Griffin, Kuz, KP, Jrue Holiday, Lee... add the draft picks...🤔

I want to say that I read one more thing regarding Melo's trade kicker:
We all know it's something like 15% of total value of his remaining contract. If you try to trade him at the draft, it's 15% of 3 years; as of July 1, it would be 15% of 2 remaining years.
So there is that to contend with.
Typical Knicks going after an injury prone player.. BUT Blake Griffin is an ideal big man in the triangle that can do everything. Blake's stats would go up tremendously on the Knicks like James Harden bc of the system.
KP as a stretch center would be a nice combo. Willy H would be able to sub-in for either

Deal! Rivers is a useful player and while Griffin isn't a superstar, he'd be fun to watch for a year and who knows, maybe he'd stick around.
Look how quick people are ready to turn away from the true rebuild with draft picks and young guys when they hear the Blake for Melo rumor. I'm staying with trading Melo for young guys and draft picks.

Trading for a big man with a horrible injury history and huge contract is typical of past Knick regimes. I agree about getting younger and trying to start over.

He's 28 not 33....
He brings a skill set that fits the team. We need younger players but we still need vets as well...
Were not deviating from the youth movement. Were still drafting high this year. We have a shot at Jrue Holiday.
Blake, Kuz, KP, Jrue and Lee... that's enough to make you go 🤔.
The alternative to that is hoping we get draft picks from other teams. Boston has the #1 pick. They aren't trading that. Clippers don't have a pick. We need a pick in this draft and a future pluck if e aren't getting a star for Melo. It's gonna be tough... Chicago is another team. If they had Melo right now they would be one of the favorites to win the whole thing. They have young players sand picks.
I thought for awhile that I wanted Blake and respect the talent but I question his fit. Injuries annually. The age isn't the concern. Let's see who we draft and if we secure a decent Pick and rotation player for Melo. I too am tempted for the quick fix but remember we've a 21 and 22 year old in the fold. Post draft probably another 19 year old. We've only $19-22 m for a agent under the cap. Not enough I'm afraid. Perhaps if we manage to get Fox, we can secure a PG vet via Melo trade or Free Agenxy to bring him along as Baker and Randle too are young.
Can't take a gamble on a guy that misses significant time year after year.
We just aren't in a position to gamble after the Noah signing.

I don't think we have a shot at Jrue but if we could get him then that would change my mind about a Melo for Blake trade but if we couldn't get a legit PG like Jrue and one that's still young like Jrue then i wouldn't do a Melo for Blake trade and just do what we should do and trade Melo for draft picks and young up and coming players.
