Knicks · What do you think of this NYK-POR-LAC trade (page 2)

Any scenario that firms Melo into multiple first round picks is a good one. Add ET and I am definitely sold. Didn't realize he was getting that type of money, but he plays defense, low ego and low maintenance player. What would happen to Lee then.
GustavBahler @ 5/2/2017 9:49 PM
Feels like we're getting the short end of the deal in this trade. Don't like the Knicks taking on a player for three years as the main piece in a deal, who wont be a real impact player. Not to mention the price. Not unless we can get a higher pick(s). Those are close to second round picks.

We can talk ourselves into anything.

Crabbe was one of the biggest frauds from last off season. His contract is just as bad if not worse considering his production

Yeah, but at least he's younger and there's a slither of hope he might improve. Turner has been in the league long enough and he's had one good season. I want Melo to be happy, but not if it means this. I'd rather just sign off on River and Crawford or whoever

2 extra first round picks in a draft that is supposed to be DEEP.

Turner is not a good shooter but he is a ball mover and defender, and quite frankly, he is not Melo.

Is this draft that deep outside of the lottery? Even then, there's no guarantee the players we want will drop to those picks. As for Turner, I can't say if he'd even fit into what Phil wants. He might, but I don't want find out at $18 mil per for three years. The picks might pan out, but there's a chance they won't. But I can guarantee Turner's deal combined with Noah's will be a disaster.

So Knicks give up: Melo, KOQ; GET: Turner (17M, 18M, 18.5M in 2017 to 2019 seasons), #20, #26 in 2017 and LAC 2021 pick.

Don't know if the numbers all work out but it's interesting?

nah no way we need Turner as he's a mess and won't really need him...

The best team to trade with is with Wolves:

Knicks give Clippers : Melo
Wolves give Knicks : Rubio, Nemanja, 2nd pick
Clippers give Wolves: Rivers, Wesley, 2nd pick

with getting Rubio we clear out melos contract as rubios expiring and also he can be a great mentor for the PG we draft and if Rubio plays well then we can re-sign him until young PG is up to speed

Phil wanted Turner last year if I recall. For those not liking Turner, would you rather pay Drue Holiday or our Holiday a premium and keep Melo? If Holiday is gonna be traveling as a FA anyway, we could use Turner and I'll take that package for Melo.

the only way we would get Turner is if we give up Noah but theres no way that will happen and no way Phil wants Turner now with that kind of contract

We dont need to spend big on Jrue as we should invest in the PG we draft and slowly develop them just like other teams do

I'd do this deal

Overpay melo or overpay turner? The latter plays D and moves the ball

And 3 quality picks. Seems like a no-brainer

Just can't imagine Portland would want this.

NYKBocker @ 5/3/2017 1:31 PM
This is an acceptable trade scenario. 3 first round picks is great.
fishmike @ 5/3/2017 2:38 PM
Turner is this generation's Shandon Anderson. A useful guy who got WAAAAAAY overpaid for that usefullness and become fodder.

That being said he defends and moves the ball and the Knicks have some other shooters. I would do it for the picks.

WaltLongmire @ 5/3/2017 3:07 PM
Turner would have a lot of responsibility on the Knicks...and I think that's something he wants. His game is more midrange oriented, which is fine for a lead guard on the Knicks.

Is he overpaid?...yup, but I see him a a decent player who will do better with the added responsibility than he did on the Blazers.

He can also play at the 3, which makes him even more valuable.

I'd be down for this trade...seems like a no brainer, and as somebody said, we are getting the LA and Memphis picks for this year, so I'd have no problem giving up our #2s. That LAC 2012 pick is intriguing, since you have to believe that the Clippers would be in rebuilding mode, or at least be without the stars they now have on this team.

I will say one thing.. if there is a player that is the opposite of Melo its Turner.

Serious question: is Conley the only Ohio State player who met expectations. There seems to be a ton of high Ohio picks (Turner being one) who for one reason or another fizzled.

Oden is a victim of injuries. He showed he was at least an average NBA player when he was healthy. I'd say Michael Redd exceeded expectations. Koufas and Sullinger have been decent. Still too early to tell with D. Russell.

This is the right idea. I like the Portland speculation and details.

I've also thought about a potential three-way [slightly ugly] in which the Clips send Blake to Sacto and the Knicks get the two Sacto first-rounders with Rudy Gay a dead weight contract but maybe worth it just for the picks.

Blake has an opt out why would he want to go to Sac?
