I see nothing wrong with this but if Phil said it the whole world would be crying. Sounds like Ujiri needs some triangle in his life.... oh no that's out dated. According to some Ujiri is going to be the next Knicks coach. He is going to fit right in

martin - did you not see the videos i posted of his presser?
ujiri is one of the most respected execs in the nba. he was keeping it real and not insulting the fanbase and talked about his own expectations...and not giving some hustle talk based on his own previous comments on what kind of team he wanted to build in toronto. his comments carry alot of weight unlike other execs or coaches or players that don't have the respect of others or who is known to talk sh t with some subliminal nonsense. this guy is saving people in africa and giving them a way out of poverty. he's straight forward and to the point.
it was his talk that changed lowry's career trajectory. he stuck with casey for 6 full years - he could've easily dumped him after the wizards sweep but didn't. he uses casey's input alot - he involves him with all facets of the team.
he's telling all his players and coaches that he expects more. he has handsomely paid his coaches + players. he has supported them throughout this whole era. and what he said was convey his disappointments. the guy has built up some solid equity.
i actually find it refreshing especially after years of colangelo being a used car salesman in all his interviews.
ultimately, we need to see how everyone responds and what he does. but you have to see who is saying it and why he said it. ujiri is the last person to make folks look bad. all agents love dealing with him. you never heard one bad thing about him or his managing style.

Phil is the team president, not the GM. Most team presidents don't tweet about their players, their team, during the season, certainly not passive aggressively.
As far as Ujiri, the season is over, they got swept, and as far as I can tell no player was singled out by name. Ujiri also said that the offense was too predictable, turning over the roster wasn't the answer, but changing the offense, not digging in was. Doesn't seem like the same situation to me.
ujiri, use the word "team" instead of singling out his 2 best players, Lowry and D roze..which are 2 of the biggest ISO players in the NBA let alone on the team.

The toughest pill to swallow is when you know a window is closed. Ujiri just realized that and now its basically back to the drawing board. I don't think he wants to come back the same might take a step back to take two steps forward. How many time have we seen a player pass up a layup and kick it out for a three this is the new league. At least he realizes that there needs to be a change which is good.

lowry and dd were developed that way. casey catered the entire offense to both of them and everyone else supports. it's been very successful in the regular season and it's had post season success as well but it's been a struggle to keep that regular season offense going in the post season. so 50/50 casey is back but everyone is on notice.
derozan in his presser - the first thing he said is he needs to become a better passer. so everyone is on the same page - everyone knows what we are going to try to do next season.

Cavs, Spurs etc aint jackin' up shots 7 seconds or less...They are running a 5-out or 4-out-1-in spread offense with some high PNR's for drive and kicks. I get it...when you struggle making an accurate point, resort to name callin'....Reminds me of my 8th graders...

Isn't it kind of obvious how Ujiri responds? He kept talking about need for a "culture change". That only means one thing: Dwayne Casey is getting fired. He also stated that he feels this team capable of challenging for a championship, so I think it is probable he makes retaining Kyle Lowry his number one priority this offseason. And with that being the case, I think it is very likely he looks to dump DeMarre Carroll (with picks) and even Jonas-V might be jettisoned to accomodate Lowry's raises. I was impressed with what I saw from Poetl defensively and think he could do a decent enough a job in manning the 5 to make Jonas expendable.
That being said, I hope the Knicks target Carroll if the Raptors are willing to give up picks (starting with their 2017 first rounder).
Respect when a Prez comes out and states the things that need to be addressed. Without calling out any specific player, express a current players trade intent, post eccentric messages on social media or have a companion, who is a writer, scrawl his thoughts for him.
With that said, think a Prez should go to his players and express his complaints, expectations and dissapointments. Phil should be able to tell Melo he holds the ball too long, doesnt pass enough, needs to play better defense, force shots and that he would be better off somewhere else. However, Imo, that should have been said privately. That has always been an unwritten rule in professional sports. Keep things inside the locker room. GM's and Presidents that have followed this custom have all been awarded respect.

i actually think he gave casey directives and i think they will meet again at some point within the next month or so to go over the gameplan and then he'll made a decision there. he also needs to see who's available and who can come in and take this team to another level. at the end of the day, casey can be back but he will be on a short leash. and he said "culture reset" :)

Spread/Spacing the floor is what the Spurs do and they have been doing since they beat the Heat in '14. I'm not talking about the Robinson/Duncan years....The spurs are not running a full-7 seconds or less D'Antoni offense. Shooting a bunch of 3's does not equate 7-seconds or less. Don Nelson's Warriors (RunTMC) and Rick Pitnio's Knicks where setting NBA records with 3 point attempts and makes when MDA was still playing ball overseas. The 7 seconds or less also involves dribble-drags, pass and chase, etc....
Clearly those terms are over your head being that you are confused by simple 4-out 1 in offensive set which is based on the Read and React motion offensive set and the Dribble Drive motion offense by Walberg. The combination of the two, along with some elements of MDA, is what most of the NBA is playing today with some other old school elements sprinkled in. I coach junior high and high school ball and I study this stuff. I have MDA's entire offense on a flash drive and have actually used some aspects of it for my teams. i can break it down further if need be. I'm at the basketball camps in the summer and convo with a bunch of coaches.
