Against the Celtics when they couldn't score and Wall and Beal had nobody to pass too, thet could have seriously used Melo to draw attention. Iso Melo would have feasted for them.
Problem is the Wizards have no appealing resources.... they would have to trade Ian Mahimi who is a flat out bum that makes almost as much as John Wall. They could throw in Morris but he openly disrespected Hoenacek while in Phoenix. They have no first rounders this year and only the 52nd pick in the second round. Sheesh...
The wizards really don't have any way to get better next year. They do have a need for Melo. Is there a way to throw a 3rd team in the mix? Maybe take the Mahimi and Morris trade but flip one of them to another team.
Funny thing is once the Cavs run the Celtics out the Gym we'll be saying the same thing about the Celtics...... Then when GSW run the Cavs out of the Gym I expect to hear the same thing about the Cavs. There are a lot of opportunities to move Melo to good teams next year. He just has to waive his NTC

Well the Celtics could flat out sign Gordon Hayward or Blake Griffin... and/or try to get Paul George via trade. Melo shouldn't be in their list. Cavs don't have anything we want. They would need a third team as well

I really don't know if those guys are available for them. Hayward and Blake would both be leaving 45 - 100 million dollars behind in guaranteed month to join the Celtics and rumors don't have either of them hating their current team or situation. Paul George seems like he wants to go to LA and I could see the Pacers trading for the Lakers actual youth than a bunch of picks (and inferior youth prospects) from the Celtics. Chicago is reported as wanting everything and the kitchen sink for Butler......
Like I keep saying we got to see how the lottery tomorrow works out and how these teams get knocked out in the upcoming series. We have a slim chance but certain stuff has to go our way.
Don't know how it would work but I would happily exchange melo for porter or oubre given their youth
I don't think the wiz problem is a lack of options though at least not at sf
Let's hope they actually believe this!
Though I don't want Mahimi unless they're giving up something more

They have nothing but I do believe he would be a nice fit for them. I would do it for future unprotected picks like 4 years down the line

I probably would but I don't like that Mahimi's contract goes 1 year more than Melo's. I don't think anyone other than us trades away unprotected picks though!

Melo is officially a power fwd... he's a small fwd but he really needs to buy into the next phase of his career. Buying in is not in Melo vocabulary
So every team but the Knicks needs Melo.

Nets dont need him. Neither do the Warriors.

But the Celtics are gonna get G.Heyward this off season and if not him then they'll get J.Butler, B.Griffin, P.George or another big name free agent to go along with the really good young team they already have and the lottery pick they're about to add which will most likely be the #1 pick.......that's if the Knicks don't surprise the world and get it....fingers crossed.

Paul George and Griffin are longshots and I'd say they have 30%-35% chance at Hayward. Utah is a young team to, he's comfortable there and they can pay him the most money. They're probably going to have to give up this year's #lottery pick if they want Butler.

More importantly, phils isn't taking back trash, and 28.5 mill in cap that has to come back to us. I don't see a contender getting better with melo in, and solid role players out.
If i'm phil, I wait til next off season and just Buy him out, he's already sunk any value he had, so instead of making some knee jerk trade that brings back less talent, smaller but longer contracts, like the tyson trade, live with your mistake and learn from it.
Lower the bar and a good deal can be made. I agree with Knicks1248 (Cough-cough) about a deal that will be underwhelming on the surface.
For Celtics, they could draft a stud, but still bring Melo on board for two years and contend all the while. Problem is next year when they need to pay Isiah Thomas. Fact is, they could trade the little guy and get some cap friendly assets and still contend.
Butler is a good player but Melo off the bench can do many of the same things and give the Celtics yoots room to grow. A rested Melo in a limited role is a killer asset to have. He can blow a game wide open in quick order.
He would come at a price far less than Butler. They can keep their Brooklyn pick.
Naturally they would prefer Haywood over anyone.
That NTC kills his value more than any of Phils words.
the Wiz makes sense if Melo wants to win... their new big three would stack up against anyone and their top four would be up there. Also, DC to NY is not a big commute, specifically if you have the cash to burn on commuter flights
from our perspective, I think what they have to offer us is better than Boston or LAC

man i'd love to get otto porter in here.. he'd be perfect for the triangle and what we're trying to do here.
porter/manhinmi(unfortunately have to take him to make salaries work/wash 1st rounder for melo. sign me up.

Ok, but you do know that you're just speculating right?? None of us know what any player or team are thinking and talking about behind the scenes. Of course we can go by the obvious with the free agents that they can get a hell of a lot more money staying with their teams and more than likely will but some will shock and move on and some teams will think if these guys really don't wanna be there they can do a sign and trade with that player. All i can say that seems most obvious is that the Celtics are one stud player away from being a team that can beat the Cavs so you have to think Danny will finally trade some assets to get that player or go hard after the best free agent out there. He's gonna have a long list before he gets to where he has Melo on his list if Melo even makes his list.

True. I didn't say they had no chance at those guys, but their small. I would expect Ainge to go hard at those guys, but it's far from a sure thing. I'm sure a Melo trade is in the back of his mind.

Playoff teams that are looking for extra offense.... its not like guys are throwing random teams out there. Wizards have a need for an extra weapon. They have a need at the 4 spot. They needed what Melo does against Boston. If they advanced, it would be esential to have Melo to face the Cavs.
The knicks are trying to rebuild... we could keep Melo but how does that help Melo win. The Knicks aren't trying to win right now.

Melo needs bridge to happy retirement.
Team where he can enjoy winning without braking himself down and exposing his age.
Why this hypothetical "teams" would need him is another story.
I feel that he will stick around and slowly fade into irrelevance.
From Phil mouth KNicks stated that they do net feel obligated to accommodate anything because of Melo.
Melo will need heavy help from his supper friends to orchestrate any kind of trade.
