Knicks · Lottery - open a Melo to Lakers trade? (page 1)

Since Lonzo will be drafted by the Lakers, perhaps this opens up a trade for Russell and Randle? Thoughts?

do it, we would have to take one of their awful contracts though.

sealy @ 5/16/2017 9:13 PM
Pretty sure they will just sign George or DeRozan (both from LA).
Nalod @ 5/16/2017 9:19 PM
I think they do a trade for Paul George. they need some size too.
PhilinLA @ 5/16/2017 11:28 PM
I actually think Melo to the Lakers is the most likely.
wargames @ 5/16/2017 11:53 PM
I would love that trade but after tonight Indount the Knicks are ever that lucky
EnySpree @ 5/16/2017 11:56 PM
Lakers could just stay as is... Lonzo, Russell, Randle and Ingram is a good young core. Well spread out too... stick Larry Nance Jr in there and let them run and gun

I suppose Melo playing the 4 with Lonzo at PG could be a potential attraction to P-George.

Russell/Deng/Clarkson/Nance JR for Melo/C-Lee works

TLover @ 5/17/2017 12:49 AM
I'm thinking Deng & D. Russell for Melo
Then Ingram, Randall & Clarkson for P. George & filler
ESOMKnicks @ 5/17/2017 1:06 AM
Getting Deng and Russel for Melo would be great. Too bad the Lakers are not dumb. They have many better options at SF, and Deng can fill the 4 spot better than Melo, since scoring wont be an issue for them anymore.
Gudris @ 5/17/2017 3:16 AM
Nobody wants Melo, he will stay with Knicks

this is what I keep coming back to.

Melo is a nice player, but. Big contract, wrong side of 30.

Moonangie @ 5/17/2017 8:34 AM
Age and the kicker are probably stumbling blocks for this. But I'm fairly confident Melo would accept Lakers as a final destination for his career, especially with Lonzo coming on board next season.
GustavBahler @ 5/17/2017 8:56 AM
I doubt that Melo at this stage of his career could get us a deal that would include Russell. Russell at SG, with his court vision, handle, and a pass first PG as well, would be a game changer. Havent heard about a serious Laker playoff push next season.

Lakers would probably want to trade for players who are in their early 20s to fit with the timeline of the other players recently drafted.

If the Lakers traded for Melo it won't be for any of their projected starters.... Jordan Crawford and Deng... that's probably it... but why would they do that?

A Melo deal only makes sense for a team that is close to contention. Even then it's probably a 3 team deal to ease the load on the primary teams and give the Knicks more of what they want.

+1

There's a rumor floating that J Colangelo is willing to trade down for Monk as he assumes he would be available. Doesn't this put # 8 in play? Would Melo and # 8 for # 3 and either Covington or their # 1 2018.
You could get 🦊 Fox or Josh Jackson and still try to secure Justin Jackson later in the round for Lee, OQuinn.
Prefer this to D'Angelo Russell & Bennett for Melo.

Scoring would be an issue. Lonzo isn't projected to be a scorer and while Russell has played at SG, he's more valuable as a PG. Raptors can let 31 year old Lowry go and secure Russell. Yet Russell, Deng and Randle make sense for Melo and Lee if the Lakers want to attract P GEORGE and a 4th quarter scorer in Melo. Lee/Melo/George/Zo/Nance/ are playoff bound team.

Russell/Monk/KP/willy/Deng (Randle,Baker, and try securing Justin Jackson)...

Too bad we can't get the old Melo back like in this video of when he was guarding Kobe. I don't know how to post just the video so if someone would like to do that for me then please do but this is the Melo i loved.
