It must be someone else. And everything bad must be Phil and/or Rambis. I mean, it is silly. Rambis has four champs. As a player he won 2, and as assistant coach won 2. He sucked because the Twolf he coached was really bad? or because of 9-21 when he was Knicks coach? I don't really get that. If win/loss can really reflect how good a coach is, then Mike Brown must be genius. Look at GSW now.

No, Rambis is notorious for being a bad coach. Also A lot of players including KP seemed to really not like him. This was leaked by multiple sources as the last two seasons have happened.

With that said I don't know what this has to do with KP..... but its definitely more smoke pointing to internal problems. Usually when there is a player on your team you value highly you keep their assistant coach. You could argue that they had always intended to let his contract expire..... but the why sent him to Latvia of all places to train with KP? It doesn't add up......

Stop bashing Rambis. Its been established that Rambis is being used as the excuse for some players unwilling to learn the triangle or participate in rigorous workout schedules.

As a point of comparison, what has Thibodeau won in Minnesota with full control and far more talent. Rambis accepted a kamikazee coaching job and has paid the price.

Wait Thibs Wolves are not Rambis wolves and I don't think you can draw a direct line between the two. Also you're totally overlooking Rambis time here as a HC which was dismal at best. The man is not a good HC or assistant coach. Even him cursing out Melo during the Half Time of that Nyets game the Knicks loss is bad coaching.

Quite a bold move and maybe a signal that either Phil is saying to KP STFU, he's the one in charge, or maybe a sign that KP may indeed be getting traded. Looking at the draft, I only see Boston as a possible option for a KP trade (if the idea is getting a top pick), but I doubt they'd work out a deal until after the playoffs when they can take stock.. No way Lakers go for him (seem to only have eyes for Ball), and Sixers already have a glut of big men. I'm not interested in a any pick outside of the top 3.

i would not be surprised to see a KP for Russell trade. I almost expect it.

Wow not only has KP picked up bad basketball habits from Melo but looks like he has also picked up off the court crap from Melo as well. How far along his development would KP be if he had been drafted by the Spurs? Food for thought.

I don't think you can read so much into Longstaff not having his deal renewed. He was a holdover from Fisher/OKC- let's let Jeff pick some of his own coaches. Maybe that was the meeting with Phil & KP's brother?

I won't take this as any kind of ominous sign, one way or the other. Not a message- and in fact, if the Jackon/Janis meeting was to give them a heads up, explain their thinking (Jeff needs his guys/we're thinking Prig, etc.), it's the opposite of a message, precursor to trading KP.

All this drama from a 2nd year dude.... I'm not into that.

KP to sactown for #5 and 10....

And WCS too.

Rambis awful in Minny was due to a lot of reasons. Part of it the guy's personality.
Our toots success is not just due to Longstreet. Its part of a process. Do we think this guy has the recipe that others don't?
We just don't know, but jump to conclusions we do.
Hate phil, hate Rambis, love Longstreet?

Of course the knicks can afford a roster of coach's but too many voices are not good either. Like I said, Maybe Longstree is ambitious and was divisive.

Maybe..........Just maybe.

Andrew @ 5/22/2017 9:28 AM
Maybe Longstaff wanted a ridiculous raise. Maybe he wanted to be lead assistant. Maybe the Knicks thought his influence on KP was detrimental to the organization. Who knows.

Exactly.
Chandler @ 5/22/2017 10:39 AM
all kinds of explanations possible. He could be headed to Wiz to reunite with Brooks, or w Derek Fisher -- oh yeah, forgot no one wants him

He might be liked and even skilled as a coach, but i'm curious if this is the guy who had KP working on a cross-over before he developed a hook shot

It's drama because he's currently with your young SUPPOSE franchise player training across seas, basically on his own accord, and the player blew off an exit meeting and essentially doesn't plan on reporting back until he absolutely has to. So with no direct reason why, speculation is going to run wild.
IF KP and the knicks were on the same page, this story would have been nothing more than a mutual agreement

I do like WCS, but would never move KP for 5 and 10. Also I'm pretty sure Kings drafted a Euro PF who looked promising after the Cousins trade

Indeed, but the issue is that KP said he wanted to train with him in the offseason, and now that's not happening. So who are we sending over? Anyone? How will that go down with an already disgruntled KP?

Nalod @ 5/22/2017 1:42 PM
Lets see how fast he gets picked up.
His contract was expiring, maybe he was being courted by others, maybe in for a promotion with another team. Is Pablo inline for that job? Maybe he is viewed and respected as he has made the transition where Longstreet had not walked that walk.
Maybe its just phil being an irrational emotional little petty bytch and is making life miserable for KP. Why would he do that?
Phil is a bad person.

So your saying lets wait for more information to come out before passing judgement? Are you crazy! There is no fun in that. Its way better to beef up on our agendas. Then if more information comes out in which doesn't benefit the agenda. We can just ignore it and not acknowledge our rush to judgment and move on the next.

Vmart @ 5/22/2017 2:33 PM
Probably let go because KP didn't make enough improvement from last year to this year.
CrushAlot @ 5/22/2017 3:45 PM
I keep thinking back to a podcast Isola did with Wojo where they talked about Fisher and what went wrong with Fish and Phil. Isola was telling Wojo that Fisher came to the knicks and was running his practices based on the OKC model. It involved small groups of players working on individual skills with coaches. There wasn't a lot of whole group drills or instruction. If I recall correctly, this was not how Phil/Rambis wanted things done and was one of the reasons that Fish was eventually let go. The two guys that did not have their contracts renewed were both from OKC. Some of this maybe more getting rid of anybody that isn't all in with the triangle. It does stink that the guys credited with being a big part of developing the young players were let go. Also, Longstaff was described as the hardest working guy on the staff and a bright, young basketball mind.

Really? You wouldn't trade KP for Fox, Collins or OG, and WCS?
