You gotta laugh before you cry.... hear me out.
Melo and Phil have it out. They talk basketball and the future. Chris Paul is on video chat. Cp3 wants to play with Melo.... With conditions that they scrap the triangle and let Hornacek do his thing.
Phil frees up some cap via trade and signs CP3. We put out Melo, KP, Lee, CP3.... Phil also gets out there and adds help via trade and free agency to round out the roster.
It would wall have to start with cp3 wanting to come here and then Phil being convinced to give it a try one last time.
Keep in mind Melo and cp3 are injury probe and old by nba standards
If Melo convinced Paul to come NY I doubt they are going to Phil for anything. They'll likely go straight to Dolan and demand Phil be fired.
Another 5 years of sucking. We will get drilled in the playoffs 3 or 4 years in the first or second round.
This is the worst possible outcome for the Knicks.

Ahhh yes... best believe if Melo really wants to stay, look out for the Dolan factor
OK, what if Paul AND Durant went to Dolan, and told him Phil can stay if he ate a live goldfish and drank a bottle of Hawaiian Punch or a bowl of Captain Crunch. With Crunch Berries!!
Guys, this is fun talk but a "StarPhuch Mutiny" highly improbable because of the money. CP3, Melo and KP is not a championship trio. We don't have the bench or the glue guys.
There's talent on this team
No doubt about it
Hernangomez
Porzingis
Melo
Lee
Paul
That lineup will be able to score 110 a night. The issue will be defense, and that's where Paul would be a big advantage over Rose. Will Willy/KP improve their D? I do think that team wins 50 games in the East. Paul is that good a point guard, he can take a 30 win team and make it a 45-50 win team. Take him off the Clippers, they'll be a 30 win team next year even if Blake stays.
Can't see Paul do it even without Phil in the picture. Number one reason is he would have to go through Boston and Cleveland, and he knows he can't beat them and then Golden State. So he would be giving up money in LA for no shot a ring. A good team yes, a ring team, no. If he leaves the Clippers money on the table, it will be for the Spurs.
For us, time to find a good young point guard that can change the dynamic of this team,
Time to trade Melo and change the type of offense we tend to play around Melo (iso heavy).
